If you're not aware of the speed limit of a section of road you're driving on then you're not driving at the level that you displayed when you passed your test and are a danger on the road. There's enough information at hand for you to always know what the speed limit is.
Safety cameras are a useful reminder to inattentive drivers that they've got room for improvement. And if they don't learn, then they're ultimately removed from the road and the risk to us all goes down. Job done!

@denny174 It's wrong to confuse the speed that a road is driveable on with an appropriate speed for the road, given all the considerations.
Being frustrated by speed limits is a very good indication of a poor driver.
There is no need for any driver to focus on safety cameras.
Speeding fines from safety cameras are entirely voluntary.

You should always expect unexpected braking - if you have to brake sharply because the vehicle in front has slowed - you are too close.
