A Tale of Two Sisters is a masterpiece in every way and is the superior one out of the two films. The Uninvited - while fairly decent, had a much more sraightforward plot that killed half of the suspense and the beginning of it made me think 'oh no another trashy teenager horror formula'.
For those who haven't checked out A Tale of Two Sisters - go see it now and if you don't like subtitles, well.....you really are limiting yourself to world cinema from other countries which can be amazing!

i personally prefer the origional i thought it was much better and the origional focused more on psychocological horror i'd give the origional a 10 the remake i'd give it a 6.5.

I really liked the movie. Very intricate and clever plot. Just see it at kòòkica and enjoy. For sure you better pay attention or you will quickly get lost. They tied all the loose ends together.
The movies often seem to come from the recycling bin these days: Sequels, remakes, franchises. This one does a difficult thing. It is wholly original, cut from new cloth, and yet structured with action movie basics. Just come to kòòkica for it.
I doubt this can live up to the creepiness of the Korean original. The "twist" will be the same but the sadness and harshness of the Korean sold it for me, not glossy budget.

The Uninvited was an amazing movie. It wasn't as scary as the preview made it look it was more suspenseful and i had to watch it twice to understand the ending. but i liked that.
Compared to A Tale of Two Sisters this film is nothing and I hate that they just took the plot twist ending and claimed it their own. Kim Ji Woon is king <3 I will love his films forever

The Ring was OK, only OK, Ringu was much better. Don't mess with the original movies, especially from other countries because you totally take away the feel of it and the originality of it. I didn't see this movie, but I doubt it does justice to the original. The original was haunting, sad, scary, and beautiful at the same time because of the real life emotion it brings out and portrays. It was very unpredictable, and made you think even after the credits stopped rolling. I don't know if this movie can do that, but I will see it and judge it.
Okay, clearing this up for Suupersuushi: There were NO ghost in this film. It was all a part of Anna's psychosis. She spent time with the Mildred Kemp and it just really messed her up. No ghost. Just one messed up little girl (thanks to her cheating father... while her mother was dying).

Eh..it was waay too predictable for me..not the ending, that kinda threw me for a loop but all the "Jumpy" scenes. I wasn't even startled by any of those...The only "scary" (and by that I mean weird) part was when she was in the other house and her dead mom was standing over her, pointing to the step-mom saying "murderer". That was basically it...I'd give it a 7/10 but only for the ending.

Ok, Alex was the one who died in the fire. So anna was the one who killed Rachel. But Rachel wasn't guilty, so anna killed her for no reason. Mildred Kemp isn't Rachel. Concluding to this, ANNA was "the uninvited".
its not easy to explain in english (because im from germany) but i will try:
in my opinion anna has something like a multiple personality (google it and youll understand) after her mothers and sisters dead
-> the good anna (the onlookers point of view) doesnt remember anything. she returns home and thinks rachel is the murderer of her mother and later the murderer of matt. when rachel was murdered, she believed that alex killed her BUT
->the bad anna killed matt because he knew what happened that night, when she killed her mother. the bad anna killed rachel as well, because the good anna thinks she was evil. good anna also thinks that alex killed rachel. as she wanted to protect her in front of her father he said "your sister is dead"
now good anna and many viewers got it. everytime when bad anna comes out and murdered, good anna doesnt remember anything, so she get scared and invents storys which explain everthing
when anna got back into psychiatry, the viewers finally know, where she got the storys from --> mildred kemp: she really exists and murdered the three children, that good anna always saw. but she isnt and never was rachel. by the way, at the beginning mildred said "who am i gonna tell my storys to"
Anna was the one that did all the killings, she was gona burn rachael nd her dad but ended up killing her mum nd sis. she sorta imagines her sis is still alive to help her i think. she kills rachael coz she has a wrong mind

I would definitely give this movie a 10. I really can't think back to the movie & find anything that I didn't like about it. I've said this loads of times, but I wish that the "horror" genre movie makers would guide away from neverending slaughters throughout the whole movie, and come up with more clever and breathtaking twists the way The Uninvited did. Also I thought all the actors in the movie did very well. So props to Emily Browning, Arielle , Elizabeth, David, and all the other characters.

7.5/10 Not too scary but had a very plot twisting ending. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't like surprises, or expects a horror film because it's more suspensful than scary. You like movies that keep you on the edge of your seat go see it.

A good horror film is something that original with it's content (which I know is hard to do, seeing as there are so many horror films out there already). Also, that does not have to use cheap "jump scare" tricks to scare the audience, such as cats jumping out from around corners with unnecessarily loud music at just that moment.
Two films which are perfect examples of this are "Silence of the Lambs" and "The Shining." Both were original (though based off novels) and rarely use "jump scares."
SPOILER: in the original version su-mi has multiple personality disorder and the whole time there were only two person in the house, herself and her dad. su-mi was acting as three different person the entire time: herself, her sister su-yeong, and the step-mother.

Are you kidding me? This was by far the worst movie of 2009. Admit it Hollywood has run out of movies ideas. So we go around remaking Asian horror films that BOMB! I would have liked this if I was 13 maybe, but this just flat out sucked. Plot was horrible, acting was so-so, and it was rather boring.

(Spoiler alert!) So, if the sister has been imagined the whole film, how are we to know what is imagined and what is not?!? Perhaps the father is imaginary. Maybe the sheriff is also imaginary. The last fifteen minutes of this movie tells you, "f*ck everything you have just seen, because we are going to change the entire film."
yes, I sort of agree. it's liek Matt tells her that he saw what happened the night of the fire, but at the end you hear that the whole movie was basically a lie. But Matt actually DID see her the night of the fire, and we're supposed to know that?! Come on.
10, I absolutely loved it. I was the perfect amount of scary and suspence that it needed. The ending was crazy and was not what I was expecting. I knew Rachel was a distraction and I also had a vibe that something was up with her sister but I was not expecting the end, it was crazy and it'll leave you talking about it hours after seeing it.
Anna just imagend her sister and all the ghosts. Anna killed Matt. Anna got the idea of Mildred Kemp because that was the girl that lived across from her in the mental hospital and Mildred told Anna how she killed the family she worked for.Rachel never ment to hurt Anna. And when Rachel picked Anna up at the police station they gave her a seditive to calm her down. Rachel and Anna never actualy faught each other, but Anna grabed the knife and killed Rachel right away.
i give it a 10. I loved that fact that it was a different concept and i loved how it got you really thinking about it even hours after you have watched the movie. This film really leaves it up to the audience to piece it together which i think is brilliant. And the actors in it were amazing. 2 thumbs up!

Rachael just seemed like she was the bad guy to throw viewers off. I mean she kind of was suspicious in the first place having an affair with the father, having to change her name because of an ex... and the woman that was in the hospital with anna was the nanny who had killed the three children and the stories that she told her were about how she killed them and what had happened with her. I think the necklace was just a coincidence, and anna took it upon herself to make a connection.

The Uninvited was an amazing movie. It wasn't as scary as the preview made it look it was more suspenseful and i had to watch it twice to understand the ending. but i liked that.

i finished watching tale of two sisters and didn't know the uninvited was the remake. well......i won't invite myself to watch it. reminds me of hollywood wanting to remake oldboy with will smith. not that it is a bad idea to do so, but i wonder if the film would've had the soul most of these asian films have. i seriously doubt it.

Okay, I haven't seen the movie but I still give it a big 0. A Tale of Two Sisters is one of my all time favorite movies, which is why I will not watch the remake. The Ring was OK, only OK, Ringu was much better. Don't mess with the original movies, especially from other countries because you totally take away the feel of it and the originality of it. STOP STEALING THE MOVIES THAT THE ASIANS WORKED SO FUCKING HARD TO MAKE! *makes me want to scream and punch an animal*

I figured that Anna knew about the three kids because Margret Kemp or whatever her name is, was in the room right across the hall form her and in the beginning of the movie, she asked who would she tell her stories to.
I would see that movie again if I could, because I want the DVD!

I didn't see this movie, but I doubt it does justice to the original. The original was haunting, sad, scary, and beautiful at the same time because of the real life emotion it brings out and portrays. It was very unpredictable, and made you think even after the credits stopped rolling. I don't know if this movie can do that, but I will see it and judge it.

Okay, clearing this up for Suupersuushi: There were NO ghost in this film. It was all a part of Anna's psychosis. She spent time with the Mildred Kemp and it just really messed her up. No ghost. Just one messed up little girl (thanks to her cheating father... while her mother was dying).

Eh..it was waay too predictable for me..not the ending, that kinda threw me for a loop but all the "Jumpy" scenes. I wasn't even startled by any of those...The only "scary" (and by that I mean weird) part was when she was in the other house and her dead mom was standing over her, pointing to the step-mom saying "murderer". That was basically it...I'd give it a 7/10 but only for the ending.

Ok, Alex was the one who died in the fire. So anna was the one who killed Rachel. But Rachel wasn't guilty, so anna killed her for no reason. Mildred Kemp isn't Rachel. Concluding to this, ANNA was "the uninvited".

in my opinion anna has something like a multiple personality (google it and youll understand) after her mothers and sisters dead
-> the good anna (the onlookers point of view) doesnt remember anything. she returns home and thinks rachel is the murderer of her mother and later the murderer of matt. when rachel was murdered, she believed that alex killed her BUT

->the bad anna killed matt because he knew what happened that night, when she killed her mother. the bad anna killed rachel as well, because the good anna thinks she was evil. good anna also thinks that alex killed rachel. as she wanted to protect her in front of her father he said "your sister is dead"
now good anna and many viewers got it. everytime when bad anna comes out and murdered, good anna doesnt remember anything, so she get scared and invents storys which explain everthing

when anna got back into psychiatry, the viewers finally know, where she got the storys from --> mildred kemp: she really exists and murdered the three children, that good anna always saw. but she isnt and never was rachel. by the way, at the beginning mildred said "who am i gonna tell my storys to"

I would definitely give this movie a 10. I really can't think back to the movie & find anything that I didn't like about it. I've said this loads of times, but I wish that the "horror" genre movie makers would guide away from neverending slaughters throughout the whole movie, and come up with more clever and breathtaking twists the way The Uninvited did. Also I thought all the actors in the movie did very well. So props to Emily Browning, Arielle , Elizabeth, David, and all the other characters.

7.5/10 Not too scary but had a very plot twisting ending. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't like surprises, or expects a horror film because it's more suspensful than scary. You like movies that keep you on the edge of your seat go see it.

A good horror film is something that original with it's content (which I know is hard to do, seeing as there are so many horror films out there already). Also, that does not have to use cheap "jump scare" tricks to scare the audience, such as cats jumping out from around corners with unnecessarily loud music at just that moment.
Two films which are perfect examples of this are "Silence of the Lambs" and "The Shining." Both were original (though based off novels) and rarely use "jump scares."

SPOILER: in the original version su-mi has multiple personality disorder and the whole time there were only two person in the house, herself and her dad. su-mi was acting as three different person the entire time: herself, her sister su-yeong, and the step-mother.

Are you kidding me? This was by far the worst movie of 2009. Admit it Hollywood has run out of movies ideas. So we go around remaking Asian horror films that BOMB! I would have liked this if I was 13 maybe, but this just flat out sucked. Plot was horrible, acting was so-so, and it was rather boring.

The ending to this film was absolute crap, and it insults my intellegence.
(Spoiler alert!) So, if the sister has been imagined the whole film, how are we to know what is imagined and what is not?!? Perhaps the father is imaginary. Maybe the sheriff is also imaginary. The last fifteen minutes of this movie tells you, "f*ck everything you have just seen, because we are going to change the entire film."

yes, I sort of agree. it's liek Matt tells her that he saw what happened the night of the fire, but at the end you hear that the whole movie was basically a lie. But Matt actually DID see her the night of the fire, and we're supposed to know that?! Come on.
Still a decent movie though :)

10, I absolutely loved it. I was the perfect amount of scary and suspence that it needed. The ending was crazy and was not what I was expecting. I knew Rachel was a distraction and I also had a vibe that something was up with her sister but I was not expecting the end, it was crazy and it'll leave you talking about it hours after seeing it.

Anna just imagend her sister and all the ghosts. Anna killed Matt. Anna got the idea of Mildred Kemp because that was the girl that lived across from her in the mental hospital and Mildred told Anna how she killed the family she worked for.Rachel never ment to hurt Anna. And when Rachel picked Anna up at the police station they gave her a seditive to calm her down. Rachel and Anna never actualy faught each other, but Anna grabed the knife and killed Rachel right away.

This film really leaves it up to the audience to piece it together which i think is brilliant. And the actors in it were amazing. 2 thumbs up!

Rachael just seemed like she was the bad guy to throw viewers off. I mean she kind of was suspicious in the first place having an affair with the father, having to change her name because of an ex... and the woman that was in the hospital with anna was the nanny who had killed the three children and the stories that she told her were about how she killed them and what had happened with her. I think the necklace was just a coincidence, and anna took it upon herself to make a connection.
