  • R.I.P MARAVICH :'( he is my IDOL!

  • he could have still been playing in the NBA in 84. sad he had to retire

  • At least people would know what the old-timers were. They had some flash, but more class, style, and true skill than the stars of today. No discredit to Kobe, Wade, or the others. but YES DISCREDIT TO TE LIKES OF JAMES!

  • lol awkward basketball :D

  • 1. This video needs more views, so im posting it up on everything.

    2. Even though all the old-timers were getting hurt, I would much rather watch this than the NBA Skills Challenge. The old-timers game was the shit.

    3. RIP Pete

  • seeing red on the bench made me think, somebody should ask him what it was like to coach pistol in the 84 old timers game, but he's not around any more. one of the great minds and story tellers of basketball. Glad there's still a lot of footage like this and interviews out there on the interwebs though.

  • "Hal Greer grabbed my right knee" LOL...RIP Pistol!

  • the nba should do another old tymers game like barkley pippen michel hemp stockton malone eddie jones alonzo hakeem patrick kevin johnson, all them cgris mullin wilkins mugsy...

  • @timones9 dont frgt Mchale

  • the big o really is the BIG o here, looks like pete was the only one who didnt let himself go

  • id love to see pistol at his prime vs koby..

  • Pistol was stroking it!

25 pts a game average with a defective heart: absofuckinglutely amazing.

    The best of all time.

  • Yes! 1:50 Classic "Pistol" still had it. You young guys dont realize he'd been doing this stuff since he was a child. By age 12 he'd mastered and created some things that only Jason Williams has done in the NBA. give respect to those legends of the courts and the playgrounds who deserve it. Pete was revolutionary like Bob Cousy, Hot Rod Hundley, Connie Griffin and todays And1 stars. Keep the context of the times in mind when you speak ill of the those who made the game great. Thanks for posting!

  • i always wondering where is bob cousy?

  • What the fuck 1:31 shittiest fuckiun form ive ever seen how did he even get in the NBA

  • @jbauer2 YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BASKETBALL...HE WAS RETIRED HERE...HE LED THE LEAGUE IN SCORING 3 YEARS STRAIGHT AND IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE TOP 15 PLAYERS OF ALL TIME....HE AVERAGED 44 PPG IN COLLEGE WITH NO 3 POINT LINE..IT WAS CALCULATED IF HIS SHOTS OUTSIDE 3 POINT RANGE WERE COUNTED, HE WOULD HAVE AVERAGED A STAGGERING 58 PPG IN COLLEGE AT L.S.U. ...JORDAN, BIRD, MAGIC AREN'T EVEN CLOSE..HE WAS THE BEST..PLAYING IN THE 70'S ON SUX TEAMS..IF HE PLAYED TODAY. HE WOULD DOMINATE

  • what the hell did u see john kerr shoot a free throw!!!????? terrible i say!

  • They should bring back the old-timer's game but limit it to players who have been retired less than three or five years. Nobody wants to see fat guys playing basketball, but would be fun to see guys who can still play.

  • Bring this back NBA!

  • At least they have something like it in the All-Star game today. Im talkin bout the Shootin Stars Competition.

  • :D PP

  • Y dont they have these Old Timers game no more??

  • ya i want to see michael and magic and bird and others it would be unreal

  • Because the last old timers game, 2 of them blew their knees out so...

  • haha something funny is that Pete isn't really even trying

  • If he only stayed a few years with the Celtics ;(

  • 2:13..brilliant!

  • If you could upload this game, that'd be great. I wish they still did this. I'd love to see MJ, Pipp, Magic, Barkley, Isiah, etc play again.

  • Yeah I would love to see David Robinson, Hakeem, Dumars, Wilkins, Drexler, too.

  • you said it man that would be insane.

  • @bullzman23 That would be awesome! The problem is those guys wouldn't do it. The big paychecks have killed the spirit of the NBA. I seriously doubt Jordan would play. Magic might. Larry Bird maybe, but he is really out of shape. Barkley would if they offered him free Krispie Kreams for life. lol I don't know, it would be great, but it will never happen.

  • @wonderbread1 yeah, i don't think MJ would play, but guys like Magic, Pip, and Robinson have done that shooting stars challenge, so maybe they'd be game.

  • @PrisonBoatTV Yea, that's true. I don't know if those guys could run the court at all anymore though. lol Pippen probably could.

  • @bullzman23 They had to stop it because people were getting hurt, these guys forgot that they were old.

  • If SportsCenter had its Top Ten Plays back then that Havlicek/Maravich play would stand out above the rest.

  • Havlicek a lil' tribute to the Pistol in that clumsy recovery... Good footage. He was def. sandbagging.

  • pete maravich for me is like the Maraadona of basketball. he dazzled people with his skills that were heaven made

  • GREAT PISTOL

  • Pistol Pete was the best there ever was and ever will be. He averaged 44.2 points per game in college and was probably the best shooter and defiantly the best ball handler.

  • yeah i thought so too but dont forget about the time he was playing in. but i think that if he were to have played during the time of michael jordan magic johnson larry bird, during the 80's through the 90's he still would've been able to do what he did. dont you think so?

  • John Kerr? His free throw shooting..

  • Get YOUR info right. He died in 1988.

  • The irony is a team that started play after his death retired his #7.

  • ummm ohkay i dont care

  • and u look it up he stoped playing in 1980 but if ur right good for u

  • xyz2 you're a dumb..

  • ohkay whatever u say

was confused until I read your message here

  • wow u r so funny i dont care what u really think

  • LOL haha

  • youre a dipshit stay away...from old school basketball cuz u dont know didley

  • @XYZ2theTY fail lol

  • Thumper Newman, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan the 3 best players of all time

  • thumper???hahhahahahaha...so funny ..go eat shit

  • 84 didn't he die in 1980?

  • never mind i got bad info

  • he retired in 1980

  • he retired in 80 and he died in 88
