  • go get a rickenbacker then talk to me

  • @NickHill668 Go get me thousands of dollars then talk to me.

  • y does every 1 hate pick bass players dave ellefson from megadeth is one and lemmy from motorhead is a pick bass player aswell

  • With this song the tone comes from the pick, so all you fucking trolls can fuck off

  • why do people bitch and moan if you use a pick or not when playing?! it don't matter as long as you can play. and you, sir, can play.

  • You've got good tone, sounds very similar to Newsted's actually. Nice cover too.

  • pick GAY

  • @OlaWie Troll GAYER.

  • nice work dude...it would be better if we could see what your left hand is doing

  • Pick user.....mmm....but the song is supposed to be that way. Good job anyway.

  • @Iolous Correction: finger picker, song is played with pick = use a pick. I despise picks :P

  • Sounds good!

  • @gnisnot yea man it wouldnt be right if no one gave the original props......

  • NOT a Metallica song........Give proper credit..BUDGIE also wrote breadfan...

  • @gnisnot

thumbs down since he didn't give proper credit. Good job though on the guitar

  • KFC!!!

  • @JuanSandmanBass What?

  • @NickRicc7332 Kentucky Fried Chicken!!!

  • Awesome cover, once I figure out how to record my bass *and* a song together to where they don't sound like crap, I'm gonna cover this on bass too. I love playing this tune, especially that down-low, meaty bass solo - I really dig in when I start playing that :)

  • fuckin ace! i bet you would sound like a right beast through a massive stack!

  • @cookie5455 Dude, I know! I was playing at this all-nighter for my church last week and we put two bass amps together for me. It sounded INCREDIBLE! Next bass investment: a stack, definitely! Or a Warwick... :P Thanks bro for watching; this is an old cover, too, so I've gotten way better!

  • Good job. Jason Newsted was really big on playing 5-string bass. Much easier than alternate tunings on a 4. Glad you were able to keep the low end on that.

  • im learning this one! its really awesome and this vid helps alot btw nice cover bro!

  • great man, nice cover of a great song. i'm lookin for a guitar amp, i have seen a cheap fender amp. i guess that one is good

  • nice one!!!

  • dude down stroke plz

  • whats with the mountain ad in the corner of your room.

  • No reason but poor decoration. It's an ad for MD Game Fuel my dad picked up when it first came out. Pretty sweet when it's actually hanging and not slouching if I do say so myself.

  • well don't drink to much mountain dew

  • Liking your bass sound.

  • this song is fun to play. awsome job. the problem I ran into when trying to learn it was that the solo is so muddy on the original recording you cant really hear what he's playing, then all the tabs I looked at sounded wrong, so now I just play something that sounds close to the original and continue living my life.

  • Woooo~:D

  • try to down stroke more...you sound good mannnnn...

  • GIVE ME YOUR KFC

Oh and uh, nice playing btw.

  • SICKKKKKKK 5/5 \m/

  • I like how everyone has somthing to say that you should improve on. Yet most of these assholes don't know there neck hand from their dick hand. I think you did a nice job. Keep up the good work.Jason definatly put alot on the table for Metallica, but Cliff was the heart and soul of the bass.Jason's new shit, Echobrain? Its such a baby consistered to Metallica, and the reason for his departure is he thought he had no input in the creativity and coulden't express himself.

  • jasons been in voivod since 2002

  • January of 2001.

  • your hitting the E-string too hard. and if you want true newsted sound I suggest a brand new energizer battery (if active), brand new set of ernie ball strings, and a sansamp tech 21 pedal set just to the right settings for that late 80's newsted sound.

  • Unfortunately:

    1. Is there too hard in metal?

    2. I don't want a true Newsted sound; I want my own sound. This is just a fun cover, not a srs biz copy or something. But note taken :)

  • Well, its not that theres too hard in metal but there is too hard in general. You were hitting it pretty hard but it still sounded good. There is a too hard in any music and thats the point where your hitting it so hard that it starts sounding bad because of string slap and rattle on the fretboard and if you do it enough too hard your string will actually stretch and it will go out of tune, especially when your playing an open string it can stretch.

But what you played did sound good though.

  • Ah, ok, thanks for clarifying, and I agree. I was just getting into the song ;P But you are right, and with my awful amp, it does sound very sharp, both in pitch probably and in how hard I'm hitting it--it makes it even louder. Thank you for your comment though :)

  • show your fret hand next time, im guna make a cover for this song and post it soon, but im not guna pick it, i dont use picks ,lol, any tips?

  • woooooo! nice!

  • not bad... not bad

  • Nice

  • use your finger and ditch the pick man cmon ur a bassist

  • Alright, first thing's first. Jason Newstead recorded this with a pick, and I want my covers to be true to the original. Second of all, finger and pick are PREFERENCES. Yeah, I think bassists should stick with fingers only, but you know what? It doesn't frickin' matter, it's just whatever you like. Plus, each style gives a certain sound, as highly recognizeable in this vid. Also, if you were smart you'd see some of my other videos & see I play with my fingers almost all the time.

  • who cares bout jason he's such a disgrace i can't even stand 2 capitalize his name LOL

  • Hey, you should look up stuff from Newstead's original band. He's actually quite the great metal bassist, but Metallica didn't really let him "explore," so I've heard.

Also, to the other dude: just cause it's metal doesn't it has to be played with a pick. Just look back to Cliff :P

  • and trujillo. that dude crazy with his fingers.. and yeah.. it also has to do with the amp.. those smaller watt kustoms pump out more raw sound.. i have one and i need an upgrade soon. lol

  • douche bag. This song is meant to be played with a pick. This is heavy metal

  • Plz tell us about that bass..you get a nice heavy modern sound

  • not bad, but you need to downpick more, rather than alternating up and down strokes. Downpicking is key to getting a tight heavy sound.

  • btw great job.

  • how do you play the intro roll?

  • It's not too difficult, you just need to move from 5-6-7 across the higher 3 strings. IT's easy with practice.

  • I've been playing bass for 2 months (guitar a little longer) and I can do it. You just need to practice.

  • great cover dude!!! and awesome KFC bucket hehe =)

  • Thanks, man, greatly appreciate it! :D

  • hey man r u in a band??

  • Nope, but I'm looking like crazy for one.

  • Very nice RiC! lol

    you only left out 1 thing...the headbanging...lol

    \m/0_0\m/

  • Haha, you wouldn't have been able to see it anyway :P. I headbanged a lot in my Seek and Destroy bass cover, but you can't really tell.

  • fucking sweet man
