Sadly this is true,i build and install windows on many pc's and on every single one vista loaded much faster with less hdd usage upon boot...weird i know but its true.On my PC

I'm using Vista and 7 . On different PCs. And I still prefer Vista. But, at the end 7 may win, because the support will last longer due to 7 is younger.

Some functions like TRIM for SSD were only available in 7 already.

i too thought this and bought 7 but did not notice any significant improvement.only the boot time is faster but at welocme screen it keeps welcoming, it has minor updates ,it has eyecandy features like superbar,complete transparency compared to vista etc. so my point is dont start whining that vista is great or 7 is bad or vice-versa(i remember people yelled the same when xp came out).at now vista is at an edge but when 7 gets service packs it will surpass vista.

@unverofalso yeah i agree dude,totally.7 is really an improvement over vista but some people who haven't used 7 and who are expecting that after migrating to 7,a pentium 4 will work like a core i7.it's not possible that was my point but yes 7 is an improvement and just asking one thing to people who have used 7-how many of you are annoyed by the preview pane resizing itself in windows explorer.i hope microsoft fix this and if there is a fix tell me one.

amazing! seeing the comments,i think people are now fighting over operating systems that is what we call digital age.someone says its 7,another one vista,xp,linux,osx & it goes.just one thing to you all vista is approx. 3 yrs. older than 7.vista has service packs and that gives it an edge.windows 7(vista in disguise) was released by microsoft (in a hurry) to combat with the failure of vista and increase its sales because people who didnt bought vista will buy 7 thinking that it had something new

@SendeRukr Yes Vista was terrible at first. With Vista SP1 some improvements were made... I have Vista SP2 x64 for 1.5 years and kicks Windows 7 ass all the way to China. Vista SP2 is more stable , and you can do anything to it and don't have to worry that you get BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). I have Windows 7 RTM x64 and it is bulsh*t. On Windows 7 i got 3 BSOD in 2 days!!!! But Vista needs dual-core CPU and minimum 2 GB RAM for optimal performance.

the difference is ram, vista 64bit supports slightly less than win7 64bit, yet so much it wouldnt make a difference to most people. both are good, vista sp2 is more compatible with most hardware at the moment and very stable i give it the edge over windows 7, but soon enough win 7 will be the leader.

Learn how the fucking memory manage works twat.. its not about avoiding using the memory you have, which some people think, its about using it! Vista/7 uses the memory that isnt being used by any other programs to do things like prefetcher, etc. Shut the fuck up with the whole RAM thing, ITS NOT AN ISSUE!

vista is fast,stable and very good,it is the best operating system i've ever used.you people don't talk shit on it,the problem is your shitty 4 or 5 years old pc that doesn't have at least 1 gig of ram wich is the main reason it is slow.so go a buy a new pc and test it and you will see the difference.by the way my pc specs are:intel core 2 quad cpu 2.4 ghz(Q6600),3gb ram,ati radeon hd 3850 512 mb and of course 32 bit not 64.and i am very happy with it,windows 7 is shitty.
