So I'm making these own portable speakers of a couple of old computer speakers I had laying around.
I have cut off the electricity transformer and planning to connect it to a battery/battery pack instead.
On the transformer in my speaker it says (among other things): "OUTPUT-AC 10.7V/0.8A".
Now to my question. Is the output energy actually 10.7V? What should I use for this? If I use 12V battery pack, does it only use the amount it needs or does it somehow get to much electricity and overheat?
To the box haters, I made it in like a fucking hour. I'm sure you guys would have been much happier if I used your Tampax box but w/e to each their own. Have a good day fuckers!
@DCProductionz chill... chill... Though i think your mum will be the same as mine: 'Stop wasting scotch tape!' Then you will be like me: 'But I'm recycling cardboard and some old speakers!'
oh my god, are you serious??. YOU DEFNIATLY DONT NEED A FUCKING AMP, you will not need a bluddy amp for those shite speakers. Your box is SHITE and could be done by a 2 year old. Seriously...why!
very good mate, great sound for cardboard, but i really dont think they need an amp coz they are like what, inch inch n half speakers so puting an amp on them would blow them, but still nice
yeah, what virtuvozas said...put 'em in a wooden box...what happens is sound comes from the front and behind the speaker, and the wood surface is hard so the reverb would make it sound louder and better.
you can get an amp from eBay, I got one. It's a china but it works fairly well for one, what hate about it though, you have to buy the home adapter separately. It's like $13, but still, it'd be better if it was included with the stupid amp. look up Mp3, computer speaker amp.
i want to know how to do this ive been searching everywhere and i wired it around the contacts but it is so quiet my ears have to be right next to it to hear it....PLEASE help!
i have som eof those spekers and did something like you did. i would not recomend an amplifire because those are only 1/2 watt speakers. when i plugd mine into my ipod it distorted the speaker.
@metalicpsp OMG are u fuckin kii=dding an amp would blow those 1ins 4 watt speakers to bits..........What kind of fuckin reard would hookup an amp to that
do you guess think if i took the speaker out a nextel phone like a boost mobile or something cause those damn phone r loud as hell and hook it up to a ipod touch
I just built some subwoofer cabinets for my home stereo so I can relate in a way. Its fun to build stuff.
As for what I'd think of your box, well its hard to say. I mean its just a cardboard box mostly so its hard to get excited over that. I'd say that if you got some quarter inch wood and made mini boxes for those 1" speakers, then it would be more interesting and would probably sound much better. Might consider a little sound dampening inside the mini boxes.
Whats the song?

How did you wire them up? I took apart an iMac g3 today and gave one speaker to my friend, so I need a way to wire up the one speaker.

You need an amp so that you can power the speakers from external power source such as batteries.

how did you wire the mac speaker to the headphone jack or whatever
DAHEICHEL 2 years ago
circle it around the contacts (on the speaker). Soldering helps, but not necessary.

You're welcome...and if you ever need any speaker building tips, just ask me. I've built a few things so far :)
svtcontour 3 years ago
you should buy a small amplifier for them (maybe 10x2 watts)
these are pretty good speakers and they should sound pretty good
