  • i hope that only shadows see me cry , what a line bbd are still my fave band

i just cant listen to the shit thats around today

  • Thanks for posting this. Late 70s, used to listen to this album just before heading out to gig with my friends in the dive bars of Phoenix--always hoped it would help to "Make the Music Magic".

  • I had JnR get this is special because Scott Muni played it on Things From England-- WNEW Where Rock Lives! Stunning work here.

  • 'when those steel guitars begin to play'- this is music that is as necessary to the soul as air is to the body.

  • Fantastic fucking record, criminally ignored

  • i used to listen to wnew fm back then remember alison steile the night bird

  • I remember being in field exercises as a soldier in Germany in the early 80's and the AFRTS dj played this whole album...where I was one of maybe three out of 300 that heard of BeBop Deluxe, imagine my surprise when this comes to me over the airwaves like an old friend offering up a cocktail and a handshake....very good memory!!

  • WNEW New York that is.

  • First heard this song on WNEW 102.7 when it was a real rock station. They actually used to play the whole first side of Modern Music. Something about that medley that captivated me to the point of no return.

  • This was truly a gem of the times, really had to hunt down a copy of it on CD,seen them play this release in it's entirety, they opened up for Blur Oyster Cult, awww those were the days when real musicians perfected their craft...

  • Dont forget Charlie Tumahai , his fat bass sound was paramount .

  • still good

  • Alert! ITV Legends TV show, featuring Bill Nelson, 26 March, Metropolis Studios, London. Full band, Be Bop Deluxe songs, recorded live for a DVD release, once in a lifetime show.

  • i still cant believe Bill was in Chas and Dave!!!!

  • Its a shame that EMI not pay Bill royalty for all BBD records at all.

So if some of you who works for EMI read this, SHIT IN YOUR PANTS :(

  • One of my first albums. Sitting in my room, playing this over and over, hearing my parents fight and turning it up. I imagined growing up and falling in love for the first time...thanks for posting!

  • Ultimate music for me...so many hours playing my guitar since this album , thanks Bill for giving me a life of melody's and dreams..

  • THANKS!!!

  • Its not hard to be a fan ....such great music....

  • turned on to this album by my bud Mike Kozak's brother Tim... thanks for the intro brothers.. Bill and band rocked my world for many a day.. to include this one.. thanks for posting.. MIck Maag.

  • Bill iz the shiznit! Be bop deluxe TOO ahead of their time!

  • Bill iz the shiznit!

  • Charlie Tumahai's fretless bass is stunning-

    RIP.

  • I had this album in "the 70's" and lost it somewhere along the way. I haven't heard it in years! thanx

  • luv the axe victim watch bills wearing so cool what a guitarist he produces a sound like no other guitarist can brilliant man . big b fae scotland .

  • @17Mandz Actually, it's a TV watch. The Modern Music album had a futuristic theme. (Released in 1976)

  • One of the best songs EVER............TOP TACKLE , THIS.

  • @ohfergawdsake ya it is , wish the intro was there to , all surfing the radio and stuff with all bebop songs popping up

  • First rock album i ever bought after seeing them on the old grey whistle test. Their performance had me hot footing it to the old Virgin records in Manchester and listening to the album on the padded headphones before buying it and playing it to death. Now the cd has regular airings. Still sounds as fresh and vibrant as it did then. A criminally under rated band, Thanks a million Bill and co for your wonderful inspirational intelligent music x

  • What A Great Song!!! 5*s Thankyou...Anita...

  • one of my favorite albums back in the college days in the 80's bill nelson rocks....this band deserved a lot more recognition..great stuff a lost classic album

  • this was my first exposure to Be Bop Deluxe, this album blew me away, its still one of my favorite gems,Kiss Of Light,Orphans Of Babylon, the Modern Music suite are fuckin amazing, great guitar tones and amazing musicianship, sad they werent bigger

  • @metalzboy

    the guy is fantastic........

  • @metalzboy JUST AMAZING JUST GOT FIVE CD FUTURIST MANEFESTO SAVES RUINING THE LP'S

  • I first saw BeBop in 1975 ish? when they opened for Heart. By the time they were done with their set no one wanted to see Heart anymore. Modern Music had just been released and they did the whole album. I had never heard of them prior to that, but became in instant lifelong fan.
