@Airz94 Martyn? Underrated? You have to be kidding. I'm a big fan of his work, but everyone is talking about him and his music is not really _that groundbreaking. Everyone's churning the same dubstep-house-techno crossovers these days.
@nyarlathotep99 hahahaha all these unwashed kids think they know what dubstep is because they heard benga at a club. you got lots of mind expanding to do young ones.
It's not impotant what it's called, I can understand you can call it 2step because of the kick on de 1st, the snare on the third and the tempo that's a little bit higher makes it sound like that. But actually everyone makes his own discription so it's not really usefull to argue about that. However this music really is nice, nice&deep . that's more important to me. big up to martyn!
@timsurftim i WISH more people agreed with that view. I try to tell all these kids around here that same thing! They all say i'm full of shit, but I HATE when all these new little hipster kids just jump on the dubstep bandwagon and listen to rusko ,datsik, and modestep shit dubstep. It's fucking ruining the genre.
I agree dubstep can and should exist w/o all the damn warble bass. Such a traditional Junglist attitude to have a single bass timbre define an ENTIRE genre (i.e. Reese bass anyone?!?). Sheesh enough homogenizing the f'ing sound already you tasteless, uncreative, copycat morons. That and sampling movies. Ugh
Having said that this imo is not dubstep. There are really zero dub fx or dub/reggae elements in the song. I feel those must exist on some level for a track to be considered a dubstep track.
@Kdnce dub just means stripped down to bass and drum which is why el-b and horsepower productions the starters of dubstep didn't really have anny reggae elements. it was just dark 2-step without mid-range
@djredi2step "dub just means stripped down to bass and drum"
No, you're wrong although it can seem like that.
Actually dub is the term for an instrumental version of a song. The term comes from reggae. It has blossomed into a wonderful genre but that's where it started. Don't get it twisted. I don't care what people label their music until I am browsing YouTube waching videos and I see a title that intrigues me due to the specific choice of words they use. Next I open it and find it is false
@Kdnce fair does but the word dub doesn't mean reggae influenced. and dubstep doen't have to have any reggae effects or what ever to be dubstep. btw listen to a dub remix of a garage song like Monie Love - Slice Of Da Pie (El-B Dub Mix)
watch?v=TKjd5wu8NCQ
and tell me if there are any reggae influences. and see what i mean by dub just means stripped of mid range leaving bass and drum

Totally. This is not dubstep really at all. It's like a slow two-step on some chill vibe. The open hi-hat placement is what does, or doesn't do it. Dub-reggae emphasis on the upbeat.
such an underrated producer, can't say ive ever heard a bad tune from him
