Obama still hasnt confirmed where he was actually born. He was not born in Hawaii. He was just given a birth certificate for there. I don't get it. You must be born in the US to be the president.
Ohh no! Not Clintonistas! 'Cause it really sucked having a higher GDP, increases in middle-class wages, higher stock dividends, less unemployment, more new home purchases, a budget surplus and all those other totally sucky things. Damn those Clintonistas!
Obama says he is all about CHANGE in Washington. If he is filling his cabinet with people from the Clinton Administration than that by definition is not change
Gee drew8269 - I wonder which side of your mouth you'd be talking out of if he had just filled up his cabinet with people from some temp agency - now THAT would be change. And frankly, by definition, rolling back to some Clinton policies is change from the crap we have now. What were you expecting? A black Ron Paul to wipe out Washington and all Federal Agencies? What, seriously, is his hiring pool? Where would you find qualified candidates?
Don't forget: a privileging of Science as opposed to superstition, cooperation with our allies (instead of some fake coalition of the willing), a strong, effective justice department, etc., etc..
I am a canadian and i like him, but i also love to play devils advocate. So here is a scenario!
What if he is acting, i mean what would be anyone's goal to be a president?
Power/Goal/Influence/Challenge/Legacy
What if his goal is not to better people but legacy and he is using the humanitarian ideas because it is the best way to move his agenda forward? Sure he might be nice and all but he could refine that idea till he appeared too nice.
i think i am just paranoid he might fail as a role model
be glad you figured this out early - yours will be a VERY popular question within a year.
This guy is all smoke and mirrors, and public opinion of him has nowhere to go but down. The sooner people start "playing devils advocate" the better - idealistically and blindly buying every word he says will become something people will be ashamed of having done.
This is really spooky. I'm not sure how to react to a president who is thoughtful, consults with qualified people who have differing opinions, and takes responsibility for policy. It's just.... weird.
I can relate to your comment. The first time I saw Obama at a speaking engagement I was stunned that a politician so personified characteristics that I value and identify with and are more akin to free thinkers than politicians - so in the sense that I can truly understand this 44th President of ours - I'm spooked as well.

Yes, Obama has confirmed where he was born, you just refuse to accept it because you're a fucking MORON. End of story.
