  • WC2010SA was brill!! on paar with WC2006DEU!

  • Why don't they take all that fucking money they spent on the world cup and use it to actually BETTER their country???

  • hahaha - what a stupid ad... FNB sucks

  • people act like SA has the most crime rate...like people only rape n high jack thats it.. o n rob bt dnt mean other countries dnt do it too...people dnt kill each other for no reason like they do in the states we dnt child traffic n all those other bad ass stuff...u people act like ur countries are so much better...people look down apon us just cuz we in africa other wise SA is no different than America...

  • A porno is more real than this commercial.

  • fuck fnb & the wc

  • Good advert its true, its easy to criticise...

SA will get the job done its a givvin but i dont know how well the bafana bafana will fair???

  • Relax chaps. Who cares about 10 or 15tourists getting killed - do you know any of them? NO, so who cares. The football will be great. Spain stand a good chance of winning.

  • yes, who cares? certainly not the liberal west who brought all this mayhem on south africa in the first place, that's for sure

  • -that's following year.

    that's a typing error.

  • People were probebly apprehensive about the rugby world cup being held in SA a year after the majority rule, but SA pulled it off; and the folling year we hosted the Africa cup of nations it was a success, we've hosted the Cricket World cup in 2003 and that went without a glitch. Bearing in mind throughout the mid 90's to 2003 the crime had always been high so why would it be different for the FIFA world cup?

  • Because the FIFA world cup is WAY bigger. 400 000 tourists expected. Not a chance they are gonna be able to avoid the crime. Even us that are used to it and take precautions cant, so how are the tourists going to be able to? Especially since they'll eager to see as much of the country as possible

  • ArionSA, South Africa is visited by nearly 10 million tourists every year, they come and go in one piece, why would it be different for a measly 400,000? even if you devide the number of tourists we see by 12 months it would still be double the number we expect from FIFA fans.

I concede tourists do get mugged but this is not anymore likely in SA than it would be in Spain or the UK, or Australia, etc.

We will pull it off, just you watch.

  • LOL, not anymore likely? Look at the stats.

What do you mean "we", i see you are in the UK, r u from SA? U being in the UK should know how much safer it is than SA, if youve ever been to SA that is

  • And the stats show that robbery is not even our greatest problem, I think Australia tops that.

I am south african old chap, I just came to the UK for University and to be honest I don't feel anymore threatened in the UK than I do in South Africa.

In Germany there were people who were mugged, had their stuff stolen from hotel rooms, and it happens in the UK too tourists are urged to look after their stuff because they could be stolen. So yeah, it is not any more likely in SA.

  • Why arent u studying in SA?

  • Crime in South Africa is not like it is absolutely everywhere, it is confined in certain areas. Like most crimes (90%) happen in poor areas, tourist attractions are rarely hit by this crime wave, and a 10 million strong visitors can attest to that. Tourists in SA are no more safer in SA, as they would be in Brazil or even Australia, they come and leave in one piece and have been doing so for years and now all of sudden they will be killed in SA. Are you in the business of scare mongering ArionSA?

  • South Africa is the worst for VIOLENT crime. Also, if what you say is true, that crime happens in the poor areas, then explain this to me. Why do middle class citizens have high walls around their houses, and many with electric fencing above that? Ive been to Australia and it is WAY safer than SA. You can park your car outside ur house and not worry about it being stolen

  • You can't read can you? I said most (90%) of the crime happens in poor areas, it's just that media makes disproportionate noise about the crime in middle class areas.

I can park my car in my area in SA without fearing it will be stolen, you just need to know where to park old chum.

And I'm not about to tell my life story to a complete stranger.

  • Exactly, that means even that 10% that occurs in middle-class areas is high, so high that you need high walls and electric fences, and even then you are not safe

  • And no not exatly, it cannot go up or down because most of the crime would still be in poor areas.

  • I dont understand ur comment, please explain more clearly. What cannot go up or down?

  • And if you say we have so many tourists, why then is there concerns about accommodation?

  • You strike me as a person who thinks it's a myth, this big tourism indistry we have. Read statistics, read news articles that say SA is currently bucking the trend in global tourism. The tourist hotspots are Table Mountain, Safari, Sun City, Robin Island, etc.

And the soccer is not held near those areas, so they may need more accomodation in Nelson Mandela Bay, Soccer City, Randburg, PE, etc.

  • All the tourists dont always leave in one piece. I remember reading about a french tourist that was raped on a beach, in durban I think. In how many countries does this happend?

  • You are quite the myopic one, aren't you?

In the UK french students were killed, in Italy a British student was butchered while there for an exchange programme, in India a british girl was raped and killed on the beach.

Things happen all over the world, you are just one of many who are on a crusade to paint South Africa as a terrible country.

millions of people come to South Africa and millions leave in one piece.

  • Even high up South African political figures wouldnt say SA is safe for tourists. Look at the vid "New Zealand News report on crime in the new South Africa" in youtube if you dont believe me.

When they asked him if SA was a safe country to visit as a tourist, he said "he wouldnt want anybody's blood on his hands by saying it is safe"

BTW, they also mention that there are more murders a day in SA than there are in New Zealand in a year.

  • Well it is now a well publisized fact that SA is one of the most murderous countries in the world. So I am not surprised.

When I said most of the murder in south Africa happens in poor areas, and largely confined in those areas, I knew that SA was the most dangerous.

But even in the wake of this news, even during the recession, SA still gets millions in and millions out. Make of NZ news what you will but I am saying tourists are the least affected group by crime in SA.

  • What to you causes people to be so desperate as to commit crime?

  • I dont know, Im not even going to try and understand the minds of SA criminals. I mean to steal is one thing, but why still kill? I think there is a hatred in many of them toward to white people, which is 100% wrong. And being poor is no excuse to steal or kill. It also doesnt make sense to me because SA is the richest country in Africa, and SA does not have the highest difference between the rich and poor in Africa

  • @ArionSA it happens everywhere in the world! gosh where do you people live? in a bubble? its so naive and pretty stupid to talk the way you guys do.. watch international news... you will see and learn better

  • as much as i would love to be there in 2010 or hope it goes ahead, from first hand experience, sa has far too much to sort out. Never say never though, it can still go ahead as a massive success, but there is plenty plenty work to do.

  • yes let the aussie guy get his wife raped at knife point then talk shit, SA what a joke, it will be a miracle if all the players come back alive.

  • you're the joke man of constant sorrow, what person uses this as a name on youtube. you clearly have issues! SA is ready and will host the world cup ini 2010 - DEAL WITH IT!

  • sure it will host the games, but you obviously don't think about all the murders and poverty, crime and corruption, and don't forget the false government propaganda! you can tell a lie, but you can't hide the truth

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!

    Nice one!!

Just look at South Africa 2day!!

    What a JOKE!!!

  • Olympics??? This is the one sporting event that brings the world together, even if it's only for a month.

  • What is the song that plays at the end?

  • Wonderboom - Africa

  • ArionSA: The background song is "Africa" from "Wonderboom"

    (Sorry, YouTube doesn't embed replies)

  • there is NO COMPARISON between australia and south africa.

    It is worlds apart.

    stupid ad.

  • obviously... u compairing a 3rd world country to a 1st world country! This ad may not have changed my perspective, but its made me think!

  • think about what? media propaganda spreading lies about south africa? who will be accountable for each tourist that dies there, who already HAS died there before? definitely not some liberal left wing anc regime, believe me.

  • You obviously have not been to south africa recently. you need to get over it! SA is hosting the world cup. Not sure where you are from but if you are South African you should be ashamed of yourself!

  • and i like the caucasian man at the back response - he may a southa african positive about his country. and the native african man - smiling & lady clapping.

oh yeah-although south africa is a great country, Australia does play better cricket! Up the Aussies:).

  • Up the Aussies!Yay-trust us to speak our mind with the good old positive "she'll be right mate!" attitude! And it is so true-if South African united work together to pull together it has the potential to be an even greater country that what it is currently-the best in Africa.Go South Africa Rugy 2010 is your time to shine-and you can do it.Being at ex-patriate although I love Australia, I fully believe in South Africa to be a great country that although has fallen from grace a bit can soar again.

  • work together? start by trying to convince the racist anti-white ANC corrupt regime.

the rest is not the problem. Start at the root cause.

  • 96aburns1ramnat- i totally agree =)

  • ans so should every 1 else :-)

  • S.A all the way, time for some positive attitudes in South Africa.

  • Im glad some people still have a positive attitude and belief that S.A can become a better place.

  • There is no reason they cannot do it im sure it will be one of the best ever come on south africa

  • positive thinking, what a crap . Exactly the kind of thing we dont need in SA. Positive results that is, we need

  • we wil try to go to this beautiful country. from portugal!!!!!!!!

  • plane ticket to SA: $1500

Purchase of world cup ticket: $700

Getting robbed while going to game: priceless

  • You said it.

  • Lived here for 30 years .Never been robbed . Never even think about it . What a drana queen . Stop scaring the good people with your propoganda and white agenda... white government is gone and the black one is doing a great job . Now go cry yourself to sleep or get over it .

  • Learn to laugh it's a joke. You tell us to cry ourselves to sleep but if you truly believe that there is no crime problem then you truly are deluded.Pick up a newspaper you deluded, ignorant idiot.

  • Great job? Poverty rate per capita is higher than during the apartheid years (among all races), the infrastructure is falling to pieces, racial tensions are building up again, the next president is a corrupt racist (and tribist), crime is rising (don't you dare say it isn't), and somehow the government is doing a good job!? Ha, I bet you think Bob next door is doing a great job as well, seeing how SA supports him so much..

  • Damn Straight.

  • Lol, i knew there was going to be a cricket gag at some point - we aussies can't help ourselves.

  • so true

  • One word...perfect

  • beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
