I always got the impression that BF were satirizing those people back in the day who would simply blitz out to the latest crap on television--no mental stimulation, no sense, just mindless pap (though I liked a lot of it, but then, I was 8yrs old at the time). And by the end, the guys who ultimately had no TV could think of nothing better to do with their time because they didn't know (and didn't want to) anything else.  Very clever of them.

Well I lift pretty much every day of the week, read, etc- I don't think I'm necessarily lazy or lack mental stimulation...but the area where I live (the closest towns with anything worth doing are each 45 minutes away)...when you live in the middle of nowhere drinking- whether it be at a bar, someone's house or in the middle of the woods- is the main "entertainment" for the weekend
