  • Had heard of ORCA because mom had the book,,,,first saw him on HBO's Camelot....and he was to me King Arthur, til i saw Excalibur...long story short..just saw him yesterday in The Apocalypse ... and just looked him upto see that he had past a while ago..need cable...but just SAW him in The Bible and Unforgiven....he's a friend of the family type of actor....sorry to hear he's gone..HE'S THE HORSE

  • The day my father died, and I drove home, this song went around and around in my head. That was 40 years ago, and I still cry whenever I hear it. For me it was and always will be about irreplaceable loss.

  • what a true icon,He made many films. Some of his best performances in my opinion were This Sporting life, his first real film and The Field, My personal favourite is camelot and the song, how to handle a woman. But he was undoubtable best on the stage and his rendition of king lear was good enough to rival his hero's and latterly his contempories richard burton and lawrence olivier,. And as for Mcarthur park what the hell i love this song ,he didn't wan't to do it but it still got to no 1

  • MacArthur Park......my favorite song of allllllllllllllllll time!

  • I really don't wan't to sound dumb, but what exactly is this song about?

  • Excuse me...I meant beautiful. It's late. :)

  • Wow. That was beauiful!

  • This is a great song and a fantastic video. Richard Harris was one of the best actors. He will be missed by all.

  • When I was little, my dad use to sing me this song when it was time to go to bed. It worked every time. I love it.

  • RIP Dumbeldore

  • @Marlowe..I saw your amazing grandfather in a performance of Camelot and he was spellbinding. I think once your name or a reference to you came up in an interview I caught. In fact, I definitely remember him saying he took a part in Harry Potter because of you.

  • Wow! Thanks for watching my video! He was loved by his fans like me worldwide.

  • @stalzz Dumbledore!!!

  • i was his only grandson i only got to see him in the hospital witch is sad because i saw him die i wish i got to see him more :(

  • yo

  • Richard Harris was a Mans Man

  • I just recently discovered the movie "Camelot" with Richard Harris, and it is now my favorite musical! Richard Harris was truly King Arthur.

Thank you so much for posting! RIP Richard Harris, what a great talent you were!

  • Ninja Terminator is one of my favourite movies of all time. RIP Richard Harrison. ;_;

  • The statue of Richard Harris in Limerick has been vandalised many times because he was a tax exile living in the Bahamas.

  • @JuanMacready Almost ever fucking video i look at you are commenting on it! and everyone doesnt seem to like you..

  • RIP

  • I heard that Richard Harris could actualy suck his own cock just like Milton Berle,Ron Jeramy,John Holmes,Lexington Steele,Mickey Rooney and Scatman Crothers.

  • @yourdickis2limp you sad pathetic person,to put dowm other people you dont know shows somebody who knows they are worthless themselves get a life x

  • @3663coco Im a very happy person fucknuts why dont you worry about your own life and not try to save the world you cross dressing weasel squeezer?

  • he was great as dumbledore, but gambon is great too....

  • 0:24 he looks like Mikhail Boyarsky without hat ;))

  • rip you wer the best dumbeldore eva ;)

  • From the first time I heard it, it struck something in me that only a few classical pieces had ever touched.

  • a love song about a lost one--the mixing of love feelings is long, when that love is lost, that cake will never bake again, it takes two long----a deep song---only one who has lost a love can understand

  • This song was voted the most "hated" song...ever., on a few surveys

  • God how I miss this man and his music. Grew up wearing out all my cassettes of his songs. Fabulous actor/singer. And a fun rebel rouser, too!

  • I was very lucky to have met both Richard Harris and Jimmy Webb. Someone asked me yesterday if I was on a desert island and could only bring one piece of music what would it be? I instantly said "MacArthur Park" by Richard Harris - I could listen to it forever. And I believe that Jimmy Webb was only 18 when he wrote both words and music. Genius.

  • @lesliecunnian Very good choice! No matter how many times you listen, you'll find something new - an overlooked nuance, a hint as to its meaning. MacArthur Park is like a great novel that one reads over and over and always comes away with a little more understanding and a desire to go back for more....

    Sallie

  • a man's man.like lee marvin and ollie reed. the world's an emptier place without them. and sadly ther's no REAL STARS LEFT TO BOOZE AND BRAWL LIKE THE OLD GUYS DID.

stars Mr Harris in "Wrestling Ernest Hemingway" with Robert Duvall and Shirley

MacLaine......... VHS version only for some reason?

  • The role of Bull Mc Cabe saved Richard Harris from acting oblivion and should have won him an oscar but he had butted heads with too many big Hollywood players over the years. There is a magnificent life size statue of Harris as King Author in his native city of Limerick where, as is usual for Ireland, opinions about the man differ greatly. Many dislike him for claiming to come from the 'mean streets' of Limerick when his family was, compared to most at the time, very well off. Big deal!

  • Ill always remember him as Bull McCabe in the movie 'the field'. Or as Burton's side kick in the classic movie "the wild Geese"

  • From the bare knuckle streets of Limerick to the sound stages and theatre stages around the world...a class act with one fist and a Bushmills chaser!!!!! Atta boy!!!

  • Rip From Canada

  • My mother passed away when I was 16 and I am now 54..but this Richard Harris song was her most favorite song ever......I had them play it at her funeral....

  • R.I.P From Powell River. Canada.

  • RIP I loved you in gladiator and count of Monte Cristo

  • @Shadi1007 Actually, it was Patrick McGoohan, if I am not mistaken, who was in Gladiator. He was an equally interesting and colourful character, and I believe he was an Irishman, as well. Read about what happened to him when the ending to one of his most popular series, "The Prisoner" was changed, or not to the liking of the series' faithful viewers

  • Actually it is Richard who plays the old king in Gladiator Patrick McGoohan played the king in Braveheart both great actors but Richard will always hold a special place in my heart

  • @GEROIDIN You are so RIGHT. I thought that Braveheart was so recent that Richard Harris must have been dead by the time it was made. WRONG! Braveheart was released in 2000, and Richard passed away in 2002, Both events seem like only yesterday. You're right about Braveheart, too. It was Patrick McGoohan. And they were both great actors. Hope Shadi1007 gets to read your comments and disreguards mine.

  • @sikorskiS55 u are mistaken.

  • Excellent tribute. Forever one of my favorite actors.

  • Rest in Piece professor Dumbledore

  • I wish I've met you in another life....you were the greatest.......

  • never got HP - its for kids - spoilt kids

Harris - u rock man - have a good one

  • Agreed! Richard should be remembered for This Sporting Life, not HP.

  • Comment removed

  • Adrian, have you ever read the books? They're at a higher intellectual level than many so-called books for adults. The fact that kids are main characters does not mean that they're exclusively for children. As for the "spoilt" comment, I have no idea where that came from, but all I can say is that I enjoyed them both as a child and as an adult, and I am as unspoiled as they come. I had many chores and responsibilities growing up, worked hard, and put myself through college. You're ignorant.

  • Hail the true dumbledore! Dumbledore really died with Harris after the second film. The HP series truly lost something special with Harris' death, its such a shame.

  • Good job hunting down all this history,

    WELL DONE!

  • someone left the cake out in the rain,

and I don't know if I can take it,

because it took so long to bake it

and I'll never have that recipe again

    OHH NOOOOO!!!

I love Richard Harris, this song is so Dumbledore-like ;D

    R.I.P

  • He was a true great!! Its very rude to argue about who played a better Dumbledore on a tribute website to Richard Harris! Miss you Richard, you were a legend!!

  • he was a better doumble dore then the new guy, but i still like both

  • i like gambon betr for 1 reason..harris wouldnt be able to do half the stuff gambon duz in harry potter so i like gambon more anyways

  • he used to drink in my granda's pub in co.clare, one night he hit his head and my granny stiched his head up lol

  • damn thats pretty cool

  • i liked Harris play Dumbledore better then when Gambon played Dubledore.

  • Yes, much better!!!

Gambon has a complete different style playing Dumbledore, it' too far away from the book.

Harris was much more like the real Dumbledore.

  • I would very much like to have been your close friend

  • great

    actor !

  • It's missing on purpose. I didn't have enough photos to make a whole 8 minute long video, so I faded the song out.

  • the end of the song is missing!

  • When this song came out I LOVED it, - a child of the 60s. It has no meaning but for the exceptional actor who sang it (adequately at best) - God rest his soul.

He was caught up in the times.

HOWEVER, not including his spectacular career, he was the penultimate Dumbledore, in ALL aspects!!!

I will always respect his genius and his adventure. Not many English actors would have considered the role of a "Man Named Horse."

A GREAT actor and the best of the Dumbledores.

    MissyFlutterby

  • HE WAS THE AWESOMEST DUMBLEDORE EVER!

  • God what a GREAT! ACTOR!

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaaay richard harris.

classic......... your haunting voice on the long playing of khalil gibran's the prophet............

  • Take a look at my name and you know i have Irish in me... although i was not born there. Mum English, Dad Irish what a combo. Ive been brought up in England and ive never been to Ireland... but i want to go there some day soon when i get some dam money. He makes me proud... im proud that i have some Irish blood in me. He lived his life the way he wanted and didnt give a shit about what anyone thought and for tht i admire and respect him and the life he lived. RIP SIR Richard Harris

  • sexy human and fab human!! love u R!! xx

  • Man called Horse, God was that a movie and in the right time, (4me)

No one can do that but him, NO ONE

    RIP Sir

  • God Bless the Bull mccabe !

  • Great tribute video - thank you

  • I knew him well and miss his phone calls.

    Pat Frost.Limerick

  • @boherbouy

He is missed in the States. His words from Too Mny Saviours on My Cross, have been an inspiration for me, much more than any priest's lecture from the pulpit. So too has his narrative in the photo montage from the Album Slides. He was a character, but one who lived life fully with a heart and mind that never forget his soul. And that for me was the essence of the man. Pat Frost you are lucky man to have such a friend and to be a friend!

  • @MCM54

     AMEN!!

  • R.I.P Richard

    We'll miss u man

  • Aparently when he was young he got a job in his Fathers factory and on his first day he had everyone on strike. What a legend.

  • I hope (as no doubt you do ;-) ) that is accurate and true spateeight -- as I THINK i can just see him doing it !!

    I said, "Yes Terry."

    "This is brother."

    Terry went white.

  • Best.Dumbledore.Ever.

    Very talented!

  • shite song. great man

  • im guessing your saying that cuz you dont understand the lyrics and think the song is actually about a cake. its an awesome song

  • I was about 17, when I heard this recepy-song for the first time. And I was astonished. Afterwoods I learned he was an actor too. But for mee, he is Mr. Mac Arthur Park.

  • stalzz; Thnx for another op to listen to this greatest rendition of Richard Harris' version of 'MacArthur Park'!What a voice! What a real MAN! What Soul in his voice & a gift to us all!

  • A beautifully done tribute to a singer and actor I have loved since childhood. Miss him greatly but he has left so much behind. A Tramp Shining!

  • Fine man,

  • Thanks for the tribute. If anyone has posted "Didn't We" please let me know! I can't find it.

  • rirover, the quote only one thing brought meaning to my life... he said that?

  • what I remember him for is MAN IN THE WILDERNESS where he was left for dead in the wild. RIP

  • jimmy webb was a great lyrics man, but this needed the voice of richard harris to get the song delivered to your heart. if you listen close to the words, there is a macarthurs park in each of out lives.

  • jimmy webb, the greatest, but he needed the voice of richard harris to make this song felt. if you look deep you will get YOUR meaning, your macarthur park in you.

  • his role in count of monte cristo was fenominal and this song is great.

great as he played in harry potter also.

  • I first heard MacArthur Park at least 40 years ago. For me, there was a MacArthur Park, men playing checkers, and a girl in a yellow dress that fell on the ground around her knees. The imagery is overpowering. His face had such character and his personality something else. In one of his last interviews, he was asked if his career had taken off again from playing Dumbledore. His reply, "Oh yes! I am at the pinacle of my decline." He was such a wit, such a man, and I miss not having him around.

  • @sikorskiS55 Here's another one...just before his death, he was being wheeled away from his hotel where he lived and he yelled " its the food" to people looking at him. What a card!

  • @stevemartindesigns

Was it the food? makes one think :-)

  • Since 1968 this song has been a part of my life...thank you

  • It's brought a whole new meaning to my life.

  • listen to every word...and you will know...

  • only one thing brought meaning to my life..and she wore the moon and the stars...

  • only one thing brought meaning to my life..and she wore the moon and the stars...

  • Yes,he certainly WAS a sexy King Arthur.

  • I liked him most in Camelot and Count of Monte Cristo

  • Jaysus, there was a bit more to Richard Harris than Dumbledore!! come on kids!

  • Never watched a HP movie(true) but I saw his last live interview where he said he only did it 'cos his gddaughter called him saying she would never speak to him EVER again if he didn't accept, she was 5 at the time!As for what he meant to me, there are many reasons but mainly because I finely understood the WHY of Ireland in The Field went to Connemara 'cos of his work.Bless him and us to have had the privelege of knowing such a fabulous human being hE will always be with me in my heart.

  • he was so gd he was soo gd, i can't believe he died,evry1 thinks of the new dumbledore when sum1 mentions dumbledore, i wished he lived longer, but he did say that he didnt want 2 be remembered cuz of wat he did in Harry potter

  • He was the best Dumbledore! The new one should be shot for ruining the part

  • woah dumbledore in real life!

    what and awesome dumbledore!!

  • Frail and grey you mean! The man was alegend, ok serious booze problem and womaniser, but he made use of the 72 years. No procastination, just got on with it, like the Irishman of old, not the modern irish celtic tiger mortgage ridden clown of 2008!

  • I met Mr. Harris during his last tour of Camelot; he was frail and blonde but the following night he shined on stage....he is immortalized as KING ARTHUR...in my mind, anyway!

  • Lucky you, iloveshoesdoyou!

  • I MISS RICHARD HARRIS!!!! :( He and Richard Kiley were the sexiest, most talented males EVER to hit Broadway!

  • when I read the harry potter books. I see Richard Harris, not the new dumbledore.

Richard was the best dumbledore ever!

  • Great music - Great video

    5*****stars - thanks - stalzz

If you love Richard Harris (actor) you must

see the movie "Wrestling Ernest Hemingway"

Its only available on VHS video.

  • I loved his Abraham performance, R.I.P. Richard Harris, you were one of the kind actors we've ever seen

  • HE WAS SO HOT! IS VOICE! :CRIES: I miss his voice

  • He was the best Dumbledore ever. R.I.P.

  • Yeah he was perfect Dumbledore

  • His version of this beautiful song is perfect. Jimmy Webb, the writer, and a friend challenged each other to write a nonsensical song that would be recorded. That's what I heard.

  • He is my hero always a vivid personality a skillful actor a good singer and always in one scrap or another.

There will never be another Richard Harris for me and I miss him so.

  • man this video is so awsom and i loved richard harris in harry potter. we all miss him so much. man the guy sthey replaced him sucks no offense to the people who like him. i personally liked richard harris better. i only knew him as dumbledore thoguh.

  • Only know this guy from Harry Potter, but he was the perfect dumbledore. Michael Gambon sucks
