  • This is a FANTASTIC film

  • If i had a time machine, i'd go to 1940/41 first and say, haha, yeah, we won. Also, apart from the war etc, Britain was a much nicer place than it is today:(

  • I couldn't hear it over the music, but I love this movie.

  • I lived at the same age in Czechoslovakia, liberated by gen. Patton (the lucky

fraction) and seeing this movie, everything I lived through came back to me.

Great Wonderful UK - what happened to you today? Need another Churchill?

The music on the piano is Mozart "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik"

  • "Thank you, Adolf!" gotta love that little kid :D

  • England before the limping life it now endures... America is Next!!!

Well we are threre.. from Excalibur... it is a time for Asians and their ways...........

Everything cycles through it is the way with things!

  • CAN SOMEBODY PLEASSSE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE SONG THE WOMAN PLAYS ON THE PIANO IN THIS FILM! CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE!!!

  • @MissHolmsey1 If its the one I think you are thinking of its called Begine the Beguine by Cole Porter

  • 2:06, that's classic! "I think you hit him grandpa!"

  • hmmm this seems like a good movie for my project...

  • Hi

Just watched Hope and Glory on Sky Movies and its still a great World War Two Adventure film.

I remember watching this as a kid back in the 80s but not seen it for like 15 years or more.

Am going to keep this one on DVD.

It gets at least a 7 or 8 I think.

  • "In all my life nothing ever quite matched the perfect joy of that moment. My school lay in ruins, the river beckoned with the promise of stolen days."

  • I LOVE GRANDPA!!! HE IS SOOOO FUNNY! I WISHED I HAD A GRANDPA LIKE THAT

  • On which DVD can I find this trailer because it doesn't appear on the Hope and Glory DVD, thanks.

  • What I'd give to have been brought up in that generation.

I'm 19 now; and the majority of people my age, don't have respect for anyone or anything.

Fantastic film! How Britain should be. Fearless.

  • This movie reminds me of all those bold and brassy dames and heroic men of that generation.

My Mum and Dad both being from the generation to save the world.

Thank You for giving up so much for saving the world and keeping us free and safe from harm.

Wherever you are may the gin be cold and the music jumping with Glenn Miller.

  • 0:40 WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE SONG!?!?!??!

  • @dcxloveit It's Mozart: Serenade #13 In G, K 525, "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" 4. Rondo: Allegro

  • ..nice one.

  • Love the location settings used for this movie. The English scenes look so romantic! Especially the grandparents' home by the river. Wonder where they filmed it.

  • Is Billy the youngest kid in his family?

  • My late father was 8 in 1940 and remaind in London during the bombing as his mother refused to split the family up and have him and his sisters evacuated to the relative safety of the countryside. The boy in this film reminds me of my dad and what it must have been like for him. His father was away at war in the Royal Navy, so he did not see him for a very long time. RIP Dad; June 4th 2010.

  • I want the opening "In The Mood" score - WHERE CAN I GET IT ANYONE/C64b?

  • does anyone know where you can find the Hope and glory theme tune itself, I love it!

  • Where can I get this version THIS EXACT VERSION of "In The Mood" from this movie's opening??

  • Where is the location of the family home used in the film?

  • lost count of how many times ive seen this makes me homesick after being brought up in ireland....anyone know where i can the scene where she plays the piano after their house was hit ive just learned to play that..

  • I loved this movie.

And I love this vision of England the way it once was, always was, always should be, but is now no more.

  • couldn't agree with you more. always thought i should have been brought up in the 40's. time was harder but people seemed to work as a team and were proud of their roots. seems a far better world in many ways than how we live today.

  • Yes, you are so right. A beloved time - our kinfolk do well in times of war and rough times, not so well in times of wealth and plenty, corruptions, everyone doing what they want.

    Oh well.

This movie is so good. God bless.

  • @creaton1976

You realize that people in 60 years will say the exact same thing about today? It's called nostalgia.

  • @jonasulrich Exactly. In my day we searched the internet using 'Alta Vista' and actually walked to the phone instead of the phone walking to us.

  • This brings back memories, I'll have to watch it again!

Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, I've always got confused with this film and Empire of the Sun, probably cos I used to watch them around the same time before I made it into double figures. . .

  • I was turning 5 when my family emigrated from England to Canada. Once in Canada I became embarrassed of my accent & English mannerisms.

In the end it took learning about my heritage (Battle of Britain) to make me feel proud of where I came from.

Hope & Glory for me rates as the best movie ever. It is a window into another time when life was simpler & people stuck together.

John Boorman, the director, struck gold with this one.

Move aside Casablanca & Gone with the Wind...

  • Anybody know what song is on the radio when dawn and her mother are fighting at the bottom of stairs???

  • awesome! can you upload the whole movie?

  • It was on itv3 last night, first time ive seen it! terrific movie!!!!!

  • would love to see the full movie

  • Wow!! Thank you sooo sooo sooo sooo much for putting this up here, its one of my ABSOLUTE favorites from back in the days!!! You wont believe how happy this has made me feel!

  • I remember watching this before school. It was good enough to keep a ten year olds attention, must be a good movie.

  • Drop it on Mrs Evans, she's a cow lmao!

  • Did I see you with a soldier Dawn.

Just doing my part for the war effort mum.

This movie reminded me of so many people I grew up with in London so long ago and how odd they were and yet were also so giving to me.

They simply were the best ever and I do miss my Auntie Maddie.

    She was the best ever.

  • 1:44 we saw today in history(we all pissed ourselves)

  • I love this movie! I've seen it many times as a kid, we had it on tape, but I haven't seen it in years so this was a wonderful reminder :)

  • the kid at the end. lmao.

  • A wonderful trailer befitting a tremendous movie. This was one of my faves from the '80s, that's for sure.
