  • seasick steve is one of the few out there making music for the sake of making music!, hes a true inspiration :)

  • Because if real music is so rare, why don't we all just listen to it, rather than think of something hateful to say and, in turn, not hear Steve rip in up youtube land.

In fact, I'll be replaying this video for said reason in the beginning.

  • We don't need to hate on rap or dubstep. The last place I thought I'd see hateful comments was on real music. The place for the hateful stuff is for the music that you're bashing. How about just listening to the music rather than bashing another genre.

I love rap and dubstep but I've been listening to Steve all day.

If you really DO like music, listen to it and stop complaining

  • @ldnycjf same here i love hip hop ,drum and bass and dub people just very closed minded this aint normally my sort of thing but he's a fucking genius and makes some amazing tunes credit where credits due

  • It pains me that no other 16 year old I know appreciates Seasick Steve, it truly is a tragic generation...

  • @everton619 get to south west london, im 17 and got a fat bunch of fans here

  • @everton619 dude im with you we were born in the wrong generation

  • Breath of fresh air

  • How cool is this guy, great stuff

  • The man is awesome.

  • The real thing.

  • This man was born to have 2 black women backing singers, grooving over his shoulder, whilst he does the dawg house thing....impeccable, and the best live act I've seen in years !!

  • looks like he's just doing exactly what he wants......really comfortable and like there's no pressure. love it!

  • It's the devil's work, 666 people like it :-)

  • @magnum9987 no question about that, but the other instruments give his performance an even better atmoshphere in my opinion. not taking anything away from this one, its still a fantastic performance

  • "That's the thing..." Well said, well said.

  • dissapointed to see no diddley-bows or 3 string guitars in this............

  • @PUSmtb Why? Its still kickass

  • Thank you Jack White. Nice to have this guy come back to the States for a bit.

  • its like what i imagine jack white's dad to be. this dude is so great.

  • Keep on keeping on steve, love your work

  • Awsome music

  • what a pleasure :)

  • Brought here by Gavin Harrison. And I sure am glad he did! Great music!

  • @Volentry me too!!!

  • @Volentry What did Gavin do to promote Seasick Steve (they are both of one my favorite muscians)

  • it is so brilliant. a foot on a box and a guitar. love this song.

  • I listen to rock hard rock and metal...but this...thisa..ladies and gentleman....os some serious fucking music. ANd the guy.....fucking amazing. Just look at his eyes, like he feels the music with every fucking bone of his body. Keep it up m8!

  • 2 people think that lagy gaga is best "musician"

  • @NativeWarezForum Lady gaga is not a musician, just all image and no talent...

  • two people were seasick...

  • And so many 'artists' rely on backing bands, model dancers, strobe lighting, writers and intense facial surgery. Yet Seasick Steve can do it all by himself and better. The man's a genius.

  • i started out with nothing and i still got most of it left what a great title

  • He stays in Norway!

  • I think what makes Seasick Steve so unique is he plays blues music like classical guitar. Sounds amazing.

  • @EurynomusBH thanks, I'll give it a try.

  • Anyone know how this guitar is tuned?

  • @Billbobaker I'm pretty sure he's tuned to drop D

  • @Billbobaker open E

  • @Billbobaker It's tuned D A D Gb A D. (strings 6 5 4 3 2 1)

  • I can't even find this cd in the USA..

    That's just wrong.

  • @Billbobaker

records in the uk where he lives half of the time, other half i think is in sweden, though he is american,

    amazon is the answer matey...

  • @Billbobaker i had the same problem,im a dublin lad livin in memphis, and these wankers had to order it for me..fuckin birthplace of rock and roll my fuckin hole.im spreading the word to these yokels..i hear his new one is being produced by jack white..that's what i hear.

  • @keithoyoung34 fear maith! Good on ye brother. Real music is dead in a lot more places than Memphis - fucking talent(less) TV shows and lowest common denominator crap for the non-hinking or feeling masses have poisoned art and integrity since time began. This guy is an old fashioned breath of fresh air! Sad to hear places like Memphis have been infected too. True prophets and poets are never listened to or looked at in their own land. If you're from Dublin you know what I mean. Slan a chairde!

  • @lisduggan64 Howya! Fear iontach! Is as Gailllimh mise but I'm with ya! He's fantastic live and recorded- always look forward to next time I see him! Real old style gent and legend- and one funny fucker!! :-)

  • Still rocking with 2 strings missing. Try THAT you self-absorbed rock-pansies.

  • @MetalGuru9 No, this guitar has all 6 strings.

But yeah, you're right about the rest - he can get more sound from a 3-string guitar than most people can from a 12-string!

  • Simple Genius. I watched it over and over and over and over.

    Walking man. Mesmerizing

    Come tour my town Steve

    Perth Western Australia

  • Simple Genius

  • Seasick Steve should do a tour of America with Bob Log III. It might make me explode.

  • CLAPPING LIKE A MANIAC which is making my dog look at me funny sitting here

  • Seasick Steve is the guvnor as they say! A breath of fresh air! I first saw him on Jools Hollands New Year Show while suffering on the couch with man flu. This guy cheered me right up!

  • The real thing!

  • think steve is amazing ......been bored with music for some time now ......want to thank for those involved to bringing him to the world ......great artist .....an original

  • just found him, he is amazing! i wish i know him earlier.

  • i just found out about this guy in a magazine... looking around here i guess hes really big in europe... just goes to show how stupid us americans are lol =)

  • love the lyrics and the sound is better than any of the artists out there today. hes in a league of his own

  • I could watch him play the whole day

  • Check out my Seasick Steve - Hobo Low (bass cover)

  • See, this is why I always make a point of watching Later with Jools, he has musicians from all over the world, could be a guy from Senegal playing Senegalise music, or Seasick Steve from the USA here playing the blues. He doesn't care if it's considered cool, or trendy, or hip, he's a musician himself with his own band and there are two types of music: good and bad. And this is good.

  • Steve is one of my biggest inspirations, he is just so epic, he tells the truth.

  • top gear brought me here

  • Blessings to you for this one...

i started out with nothin' and i still got most of it left

i started out with love and i still got most of it left

    be well, happy, and peaceful

    nothin else to do

    Bela Ray

  • Amazing...a real ARTIST...he don´t need trucks full of gear to show us in a concert his great gifts...........

  • From Mississippi to the world

  • this guy live pshh! awesome

  • Just gotta keep tapping my feet to this

  • Muy copado

  • SSS- The Genuine Article

  • a rich and nice man singing

  • Man and his tool. We mere mortals can only appreciate.

  • This is the first video I've seen of him with backup singers. This is good music right here.

  • This man is AMAZING!

  • even my one and half year old started clap and swing his head after hearing this. saw him live last week at hop farm. brilliant. we need few more steve to make music what music should be like.

  • Wow.. amazing rock on

  • Where you been all my life Steve that's the coolest licks I have heard in a long time!

  • Unbeleaveable. This guy is so tallented.I,ve been playing guitar for 30 years and for all the right reasons i still do.Your heart is in the right place steve keep those tunes comming.XXXX

  • this kind of music would be way too much fun to play live! he must have a ball!

  • I've seen Seasick Steve live. He has this very genuine feel to him, like he truly appreciates his fans. And good for him, he deserves them C:

  • As soon as he starts playing it's impossible to stop watching until he's finished

  • Who is the one person who disliked this?

  • makes me tap my feet

  • great song.. one of them you xan listen to over and over

  • The other day I asked my granda if he had heard of Seasick Steve and he said no. Throughout the day he saw every Seasick Steve album in the shops!

  • This is me and Toby joe , loving it down here ! xx

  • I love hip hop and pop but this is just so natural i think i love this stuff better than anything. This should be classical music because it is a classic!!!

  • haha just heard of him n top gear n had to check him out.... glad i did :)

  • This old boy makes some pretty good noises

  • Brilliant

  • Its a shame that American classics like Steve can only make a living in Europe

  • @grampabaldy . All the better for us European's matey

  • Agreed. I'm from Texas, I'm wondering what the appeal is for you brits. My fav music is the regurgitated blues from england in the 60's and 70's.

  • @ejlister the appeal is simple..... seasick steve is great.... allso us brits pray for the day that hip hop and that whole genre dies, the sooner th better.its not music, its product..... what d'ya rekon?

  • @pitkinator What do you mean us brits? Don't forget that the majority of brits like hip hop and rap. so when you say brits you mean yourself.

  • @pitkinator

i reckon you have a point in most cases, esp these days, but that you are being unfair to some of the rootsier hip hop that has as much basis in blues and "real music" as early funk and rock.

check out Heavy Rhyme Experience (there is plenty on here) for a live hip hop album that is pure soul and done for real. Then check out the jazzmatazz series.

Its not ALL bollocks, or ALL amusical is i guess my point, even though most of it IS over produced over sampled shitty rubbish.

  • @ejlister There's been Brits into blues since the 30s, with the records brought over here (illegally) and sold in the cities. Most found them while looking for US Jazz, but were taken by the unique sound, which sounded alien to most Brits. Some musicians tried to imitate it, and made it their style, performing songs by Johnson, etc, in small clubs, creating a sort of cult. By the 60s, it was popular, and Rolling Stones made it to #1 with Little Red Rooster. Joe Bonamassa liked UK blues.

  • Yeah a big girl with a pocket full of change.

And a guy with almost all of nothing left :)

    Nice down to earth blues

    great

  • Whats with all the blues in Britain vs. US shit? Who cares?!

  • brilliant :o)

  • Anyone know what guitar he's playing in the vid?

  • A breath of fresh air

  • I cant stop smiling when I listen to this. Kinda blows a hole in the whole digital thing for me. Its so innocent, natural and pure. Music fans have been crying out for some one with real talent to grace our barren musical age. Was really starting to believe real music was on its death bed. Thanks Sea Sick Steve. Can't stop tapping my feet.

  • @Pocketwatchable couldn't have put it better myself

  • @Pocketwatchable

I couldn't agree more! This is so amazing! Steve's got such feeling! This is too rare nowadays! Real music is on it's deathbed. People like steve are the last of a dying generation!

  • 0:57 that big chick on the right has got a pocket full of change

  • you cant beat a bigchick with lots of change.

  • True... You need to use a baseball bat instead.

  • LOL!!! XD

  • @squealyparsuperstar haha nice

  • aaaah wanna learn to play the blues : )

  • learn the 1-4-5 rule = got your rhythm, then you blues scale = you solo.

  • what a genius!

  • This dude is soo f-ing cool! Hes done all wrong, stood up and still got new wrongs to do XD, with a big as*smile on his face hehe.

  • yes yes and yes

  • only desent musician from american and he was a ahobo lol seasick is awsome

  • @foofighterzfan well said friend!

  • but your a foo fighters fan? there american too!

  • @foofighterzfan what about jimmy Hendrix

  • If your looking for REAL good American music then you have to look beyond the mainstream groups that you have mentioned. There are soo many independent record label bands out there these days that blow away the mainstream. Not to mention the old blues legends who have obviously influenced Seasick Steve, Stevie Ray, Jimi Hendrix and just about every other guitar player in the world!

  • I was responding to foofighterfan. This guy is pretty good

  • @foofighterzfan, I think i understand your attitude towards the US. But I have to admit they have more very good musicians, like a lot of the old blues legends, Robert Johnson, Muddy but also less old for one I have to mention Bruce Springsteen. Never the less SSS kicks ass that is for sure, a legend

  • @foofighterzfan ... thats a strange statement.... im taking a wild guess you are a foofighters fan..... so i guess their not very decent in your opinion.

  • @foofighterzfan its "decent" .............

  • his own lyrics, makes music out of anything, cares about the music ,not the money..

He is a full on artist!!!

  • That's what all music should be like....none of this stupid commercial bs.

    Awesome artist.

  • what a man!!! amazing :), best artist ive come across in a long time!!!!

  • absolutely love his music. such a talented man :)

  • Brilliant - Six String Steve.............

  • nah more like 3 string steve on his earlier pieces

  • I love Seasick Steve. He's so amazing.

  • mmmm, this IS music :) omfg thx steve, and uploader:)

  • This guy is the real deal.. No fancy gear. Just him and his music.. Sings it how he sees it... Brilliant.

  • They are his own lyrics, check out his website, you can order his cd's

  • this is indeed all writen by seasicksteve

  • brilliant , he really knows what hes saying - hes been there and done it

  • Jools Holland is essentially the reason he is now famous. So I would say it's just that he returns!
