  • Pretty cool dude, wish I could make one that looked like a normal box.

  • you could make this a geocach

  • Nice job, bro.I don't know if you intended it but it's really a puzzle box twice. 1) a puzzle to open and 2) a puzzle to copy :)

  • 1:31 = That's What She Said

  • @wmmajt i actually laughed haha

  • 1:31 = That's What She Said

  • I'm gonna stick with tupperware.

  • I like it.

  • could i buy one, like for an iphone?

  • this one is so cool (O_O'')

  • make a vid showing how u did it with meseruments i know i cant spell

  • this is a puzzle box that i made for my girl friend

  • Pretty cool, i like it! But does she appreciate it?

  • Pretty cool, i like it!

  • very nice

  • Awesome job.

  • could you please put a step by step design on how you made the box

  • how does the back one block the front one from moving?

  • @casjahnke1234

The back one only slides left and right. It does not slide forward with the bottom. So you have to slide it over to unlock the bottom and allow it to slide forward.

  • i dont understand why you have to slide the first hidden box joint in the back. it seems only necessary to slide the one the directly lets it open? correct me because i cant see.

    cool box btw.

  • really cool!!

  • i wunna have one

  • im gonna buy one and put my weed in it

  • beautiful! Lucky girlfriend. :)

  • Was that designed to be ring sized? :)

  • Looks like a ½ bread:)

  • lol that tight

  • i want one of these so bad D: but idk where i can buy these type boxes for cheap and im not good with wood working so idk how to make one

  • @quintonbob I don't know where you'd buy one either, haha. I'm sure something like it exists out there somewhere but I couldn't find it so I built it. There aren't a whole lot of non-traditional puzzle boxes out there that I know of. Lots of one-offs (read expensive), but not many I know of that are mass produced. The only way to become good at wood working is to keep trying! This box took about $8-10 in wood and a couple dollars in finishing supplies. The tools were more of course.

  • you made that! was there a plan that you followed. if so can you please tell me!

  • the only thing i dont get is how the fingers slide

  • Very nice! I'd like to see a video of you making one.

  • very well made

    nice job!

  • i would buy this D:

  • 2 questions how did you make the back and front slide back and forth and what does the back one do, like whats the point of it ? thanks

  • @stitchx2796 mabey it locks the front one?

  • @stitchx2796 it locks the bottom from moving

  • That's right! The back locks the bottom from sliding and the front locks to top down. Can't open the top without sliding both. :-)

  • @vipervnm i was having a hard time figireing out what the back tile did

  • Wow impressive. how did you make it? what are the tools?

  • cool but I suggest you to do some graphs sure if you want nice vid

    five stars

  • i want to make on so bad can you tell me what tools you needed thank you please send me back :-)

  • very nice. a very thoughtful gift. good thing you left these instructions just in case your girlfriend decides to poison you and tries to hide the evidence.

  • thats soooo cool! can you make a vid on how to make one

  • great job!

  • could i get the link to the diagrams or the instructions to make this ?

  • Sorry, I didn't make plans for it. I just made it up as I went along. I started by deciding I wanted the bottom to slide forward for it to open. Then I figured out ways to keep the bottom from sliding by adding extra "steps" to opening it.

  • cool idea, you inspired me to make one for my girlfriend

  • Give it to your girlfriend but put a ring in it. Tell her how to open it and then that will give her the best surprise of her life!

  • Was it 100% tung oil that you used, or merely a tung oil finish?

  • It was a 100% tung oil that I thinned a lot for the first coat, then gradually reduced the thinner proportion on subsequent coats until I used pure tung for the final coat. The box has been in use for almost 2 years now and still looks like I finished it yesterday. Tung Oil is amazing stuff.

  • Oops, I meant to hit "reply" and accidentally hit "remove" a comment. The user asked if it was a Japanese style puzzle box. It's actually not. The Japanese boxes I'm familiar with have a skin that slides around on other core box panels. In this box it is just the core box sliding around. So when you slide the bottom forward the actual bottom of the entire box is sliding. I made a small container inside to keep things in place when you open it, but the container is just held in by friction.

  • cool shit bro, is there a plan for that somewhere?

  • Thanks! Sorry, no plans. I kinda made it up as I went along. I made plans for the things I've made since then but I haven't made anymore puzzle boxes yet.

  • Hi, your box is great! but you dont seem to put anything in it?!?

  • thats awesome. great for keeping small things hidden :P

  • looks great, well made.

  • It took about a month working a few hours here and there. The toughest part was figuring out how to get pieces to slide. In the end I decided to use slotted keys. Making the finger joint jig was easy. The finishing process took nearly 2 of the weeks.

  • That's cool man. Where did you learn to make this? I would like to get into that. I can't stop trying to figure out puzzles, and making them is just as fun. I'd love some more information on this stuff if you could. Good job man, peace.

  • So cool!

  • an astounding display of true craftmanship. you should be proud

  • that's tight! no pun intended.

howd u come ip with that??

  • my favorite coler is black MAKE ME ONE!!!!! D:<

  • it doesnt work if u tell every1 how to do it

  • i would so like to make that could you tell me how you made it please? my girlfriend would love me for it

  • dude if you end up proposing you need to do it with a puzzle box she would never even think of it if you give her lots of them

  • dude dont tell her how to open it see if she can find it out on her own

  • Haha, that was half the fun in making it. She's smart so she did eventually figure it out. I was disappointed that it took less than 20 minutes. I guess that means the next one will have to be that much more elaborate. Thanks for watching!

  • pretty cool is your grl a supa genuis? Or she just good?Lol. I wouldn't be able to make that i am craftly challenged

  • Very cool!

  • Nice box!!!

  • really nice box

  • nice job. i could see a lot of people trying to pry it open after seeing the diagonal bit. xP

  • sweet

  • like it

  • Thanks! It was my first try, so I know I have a ton of room for improvement.
