Well it is Hideki Kamiya who created the DMC IP and being developed by Platinum Games, -a studio known for being inventive when it comes to action games.. However, the only similarities I see is that its 3rd person and has an armed character doing combos against monsters... nothing exclusive to any series.

Nah, the story goes as following, The makers of the first DMC, kinda quit/left CAPCOM and after some time they were hired by SEGA, now they're making it for them.

OR

According to some others, the game(DMC) was never directly by CAPCOM but by an independant studio, which later on got hired by SEGA to do Bayonetta.

I just hope that DMC4 will be atleast this good, since the past games have been just "reinventions" of the first one...
