And actually there were talks that they would bring it back but it was a craptastic version of race cars with consumer car skins (not unlike nascar). I miss the days when we raced with REAL production cars, races that gave auto makers reasons to build these cars for the public, real cars bought off the lot and tuned to ground pounding racers.

As a man who feel out of love with drag racing because of the Trans Am series. That being said the poster of this clip thanks, but why have music and not the sounds of big V8s which is much of the draw to the real car guys.
After this series ended I then was forced to switch to other forms of road racing, I ran a Datsun Z cars in SCCA events for many years.
t. My last days racing was at Bridgehampton course.
A modern day form of this series would be great using current cars.
Well if you watch any of the SCCA series you will be delighted to know that the Camero, Mustang, unfortunately we have yet to see any Pontiac's, or Dodges. There will be Jaguar, Porsche, and I believe BMW. Jaguar and Porsche have been racing in the Series for some time now. I would expect if the Camero and Fords do well, Dodge will want to participate with its Challanger, and Pontiac is coming out with a new Trans-Am, so maybe 2011 will be better for Muscle cars in the series.
My grandfather had a 72 Javelin with a 360. God, I love those cars. I'm keepin my eye out for the right one. This vid is awesome. Nice to see clips of the old Trans Am series. It's bitter sweet to watch.
God I wish they would bring this back. It was great to see this racing series at the Coronado Speed Festival. I even saw a few picture in here from the event. All three of the Trans American AMC Javelins took the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Great race...
