  • nice tank! your cichlids are lovely. the prob i have with mine is two of the cichlids became huge and boss everyone around and it turn into not a very nice habitat for the others.

  • Bristlenose would be a good addition. Not only do they look weird and cool but they love eating algae. I have 2 in mine, they work hard. hah. Nice tank.

  • what kind of rock is that ? and how much $

  • looks like texas holey rock, but not 100% sure

  • Cool tank with all cichlids. Very nice!

  • do you have a jack dempsey

  • nice tank :D

  • thats a really nice tank you got there, i have a 75 gallon acrylic tank also,my problem is that algea grows really fast so i have to take out most of the water every week what do you recommend to make this better cuz i already had one of my cichlids die from being stressed out from having to take him out to take out all the water every time.plz let me know what you recommend

  • Is it getting too much sunlight? That makes algae grow. Having a filter might help.

  • its in my living room right across from the front door maybe 15-20 from the front door and the way my house is built the sun hits the sides of my house not the front or the back so i have a canopy with a light system for it and i used to leave it on most of th day but my cousin told me to try leaving the light off for like 2 days and it might clear up and after 3 days the water is crystal clear again haha who knew that would work hu but now i only turn the light on maybe 4 hours a night

  • african love algae the more the healthier they are

  • Try a few Bristlenose Plecos, they will keep on top of the algae as the eat 24/7.

  • nice

  • where did you get those rocks? I can't find good ones for my tank.

  • I found the majority of them at at LFS but I also bought some on eBay. It's really a maintenance free tank with the Labeotropheus in there - they love to munch on anything growing on the rocks. Nearly all of these fish are still around - a couple years and moves later.

  • I like his tank, because he doesnt have too many fish in there that just make it look overcrowded I love this tank!

  • dont add 1sp per 5g. thts the quantity for brackish tank. but adding enough salt to a tank can defenitely result in clean and crystal clear water.

  • very nice setup. how do u keep the rocks soo clean. ive got the the same set up but my ocean rocks get dirty quit quiclky

  • Well first of all i would like to say I love your tank its quite beautiful...I myself recently bought 3 african cichids that aren't even an inch long yet and I put them in a 5 gallon tank....but one of them is a bit bigger than the other two and tends to pick at them and run them out of the two hiding places I gave them...they also have trouble getting food...do have any idea of how I can stop this?

  • you should put them in a bigger tank! and give them few more hiding spots so the bigger one diesnt pick at them.

Dont worry about the eating part. In few weeks they'll grow and eat untill they can lol

  • u culd put way more fish in there if you wanna

  • how did you get your water so clear?? also, are you using any sort of special lighting?

  • beautiful

  • we just got a 55 gal tank, put two oscars in it and a pocostimious, u can put one oscar every 25 gal. is a good rule of thumb when habitizing oscar fish.

  • i don't know who told u that, but a 55g is only big enough for one oscar. you should at least get a 125 to house two oscars and a plecostimus. if u have a common pleco it will get big. i owned one for 6 years until i unknowingly sent it to its death housing it with predatory african cichlids. good luck!

  • but sometimes u can succesfully keep pleco with African Cichlids. i dont kno wat % success it is. i had pleco wit my AC and he did fine till my cousin decided to clean my tank for me.

  • What kind of cichlids do you have in your tank?

  • i love it, well done

  • hi there... uhm i also have a 75 gallon tank.. how many oscars can i place in there? currently got 1 4" albino oscar... and what do you think can i place more?

by the way, your tank looks good

  • is that limestone rock

  • do you use a canister fillter?

  • very nice tank... good to see someone else creating a "natural" habitat
