  • this is bad guitar, but Super player and Marshall xDDD

  • I've had name brand guitars costing thousands and I've recorded them next to my economy Seagulls and other guitars. I like the cheapos better, sold all those xpensive axes and banked the cash. It's all in your fingers and what you're going for. I think these are pretty good sounding guitars. A strat like that w/distress would be outragous

  • I'd played in one of these guitar. Sounds really nice and it's very lightly

  • i actually like the badwaters they could improve the tremolo and whammy bar my whammy broke in the bridge wich really sucks but im planning on replacing it with a floyd rose other than that its awesome

  • I bought it from a authorized dealer and it sucks.. It stopped working a year ago the whammy has snapped of the whole insides screwed up. It's easy to play tho.I don't even remember how it sounds like plugged in

  • I bought it and it is good, but I had to fine tune the bridge. I mean, I had to regulate the bridge for all the harmonics to sound right. And I had to change the strings. It sounded perfect after I did it. But it is not an "easy" guitar to play. It is a bit hard to play

  • Problem is Paul recommends everything. Has there ever been a piece of gear Paul does'nt like?

  • lol this dude can make broomstick sound fuckin awsome :D

  • @Dav1ta You got that right. This guy is the best player I have ever seen demo a guitar on YouTube. I just bought one of these Axl Badwater SRO strat copies on Amazon for $90 and I would think I died and went to heaven if I could make it sound as good as this guy does.

MIne would not keep tune for ten seconds when I got it a couple a days ago. I tightened the tuners and it is better. If it won't keep tune through a full practice session a week from now I will send it back.

  • This is one cool guitar, played em, love em, great class and style, well worth the money.

  • This is one cool guitar, well worth the money, with a lot of class.

  • "distressed beyond belief". LOL

  • is pretty decent for 199

  • @flrider7 I just got a $300 Dime V that blows away my previous guitar, an $800 Fender Jaguar HH. :/

  • i have got axl stratocaster for 95 $. it is cool. not bad axl !

  • these axl guitars are very hit and miss, luckily I just bought one and it is awesome, the looks and sound of it compares with my strats which cost about 3 times as much

  • У меня такая!!!

  • how distressing

  • @flrider7 most of my expensive guitars ive sold lol ive played jay tursers that are better then some usa fenders ive played.

  • Its Is Awsome..With Alnico Magnet With Emg. I'll Buy this one shortly..after i earn some bucks..better than squiers N ass good as Mexican!! Damn Nice!

  • AXL Badwater Basses & Guitars are all "AMAZING"! x0]

  • I just bought one of these :)

  • @xane3 Are you still happy with it ?

How much does these weight, the body is relatively smaller than fender strats rite ?

  • @ace41r Yes im happy with it .Had it about just over two months. My guitar teacher really likes it and hes been into music for 20years + so it must be good. The bodies pretty heavy ,bodys bigger than a strat. Its really well made.

  • @xane3 hmm kie, ty

I was planning to buy it, as i needed a lightweight guitar.

  • How are axl guitars, are they good?

  • @dieandgoaway I picked up an Axl Badwater 1216 in off-white early this week for $200 with a hardshell case. It's construction is great and it sounds quite good. I love it's distressed look. Definitely in a class of it's own. The antiqued tuners look cool and are decent, better than what you'd normally find in it's price range. I've got mine strung with D'Addario .10's and it stays in tune rather well. Give it a proper set up and you'll be set with a vary playable and unique looking guitar..

  • @dieandgoaway my opinion is there awesome undertated but awesome cheap for some reason they dont sound it i recommend

  • hi. can you give me a list of the songs you played pleaspleaseplease? i really wanna learn them

  • @goryskull being paul i would say it was all improv.

but...try it out learning by sound if you havnt learnt a song by ear before this little combo of licks should be a good start. combine you knowlage of notes with the video and you should have it in under 45 minutes:P good luck have fun:P

  • I have a axl guitar bit I think it's am older version cause it has a single coil in the bridge and is cherry red with white pockguard plays metal great but it's really noisy mine was a starter guitar so I guess I have a lower lower model

  • these guitars look awesome i have a fender made in usa strat and if these guitars were avalaible in my country i would buy one

  • Whats the song that you played for rock setting..?

  • Well I don't know about this model, but I purchased 2 Les Paul's awhile back and experienced major humming noise with both of them. At first I thought it was a ground loop issue, but that was not the case. So finally I took one of them to my guitar man and we discovered that the guitar has no shielding inside. Add the low quality pickups to the mix and the guitar is virtually an antenna, sucking up any and all electrical interference that is around. Bottom line: you get what you pay for.

  • @jnelson16701 I hate sniveling idiots like you. Cry like a bitch because the $200 guitar you bought didn't have any shielding. Plunk down the $5 for a roll of shielding and put it in yourself you fucking whinny fag. And if the guitar sounds like shit it's your playing not the guitar. Give me 25 minutes with a Walmart First Act guitar, and I'll even play it through the cheap First Act amp that comes with it, and I'll make you think your hearing the voice of angels.

  • Don't let the presentation fool you. With the right tweaking to your amp setup, this bitch can keep up with most metal guitars. I tried one of these with a Marshall MG series mini full stack, and it just tore it up,lol. Great guitars and I recommend them to EVERYONE!!! They are that good.

  • If you own a marshall dsl-401, buy 1, incredible sound! Great backup guitar

  • What is better this guitar or squire bullet?

  • @TheXDman999 this guitar has better electronics and playability than my old bullet

  • @TheXDman999 The great thing about these "cheap" guitars is that even if you don't like the hardware it comes with for about $130 at Stew-Mac you can replace the tuners, nut, trem, and even the knobs. And when you only spent about $225 for one of these with a nice HSC, for around $350 you'll have a guitar that would rival just about any USA Strat, and look way cooler to boot.

  • what is better this guitar ro squire bullet???

  • it cant sound any better, i sure that im going to buy that guitar.. it sounds awesomeee, its greaat

  • i have an axl tuning is a lil problem but i love my axl though its just plain red with a pickguard and 3 single coils with the bridge being slanted.i run it on a peavy vypyr

and is sounds awsome even when i play kse

  • @129jasaxos You do know that for less than $40 you can replace the tuners with some good Gotoh tuners? You may have to do a little work but if you're not a complete moron you should be able to do it in under 20 minutes.

  • I don't know about this guy but every time he does a review I learn a couple of new cool riffs.

  • cool guitars! where are they made? who did they have to whip to get this guitar made?

  • I've never had a problem with my AXL guitar. The frets are fine, the action is great, the sound is amazing, and I love the neck, super fast for shredding. I love these guitars. Money doesn't mean quality. I used to have nothing but Ibanez and Jacksons, not going that route anymore, sticking to the AXL's for now on. They're great.

  • I heard these guitars were absolute shit quality- frets popping up, strings buzzing, awful nuts, etc. Confirmation from someone other than Guitar world?

  • @superlou1s I have a black strat, lefty it was cheap and that's exactly what it is CHEAP. couple Frets buzz horribly. the pickups are tinny sounding and its really hard to hold a note and just let it ring--no sustain. The headstock is like scooped back from the neck which makes the low e angle hard--like so hard that you think its gonna pop off the post, their's not enough post because of the way it is scooped. The design was made purely for looks and functionality is an afterthought.

  • @GoatLaddy it stays in tune pretty well and it does have some weight to it so it is solid wood---its a good guitar for just pounding on, loaning to friends who you no will mistreat it and spill beer on it. Abuse may even make it sound better--For 109$ you really do get what you pay for.

  • myspace cooperpop XD

  • at 2:36 he starts going into something that sounds like smashing pumpkins.

  • i find that they are quite shity for staying in tune

  • I got the same guitar the off white color its has a great sound to it but i would like to no the song in 2:36 - 3:00

  • lol he says the axl thing should be branded in and now it is xD

  • I have An Johnson AXL its not bad water but sounds the same it can play classic rock but it can also play metal seriously i can play slayer, metallica, A7x, ect.

  • that guitar sounds awesome!!!

  • I made that same mistake...its not the guitar by itself but also the one who playing it

  • mmhhmm ....well all i'm saying is that ... if it's as good as a strat... then why is it cheaper than it?... i only know little bout this guitar so ... i try to learn

  • Made in China. They use a plastic Nut instead of Graphite or bone. The wood is probably really inexpensive.... But mostly because it's made in china. Things are just so cheap over there. Not necessarily bad, but they don't pay people as much to build it, so they don't have to charge a lot.

  • anyone tried the badwater 1216 les pauls? they look killer any feedback

  • why are people posting GW vids that are already on youtube in better format?..please explain

  • i want you mister axl, and i want to know how to play the stuff he plays at 3:20

  • paul is one of my favourite people in the guitar world. is there any guitar he cant make sound good with his playing? needless to say im buying this git, i need a cheep knock around.

  • Unbeleivable for $200!

  • i bought a fender strat for $500 dollars and then played a AXL basic sro and it sound just as good as my startocaster so i bought it. the sales man charged me $91 dollars and i took back my stratocaster to guitarcenter, buy a AXL you will be blown away.

  • In the Bass Player Magazine, the AXL logo is actually ironed on the headstock :P

  • They must have upped there advertising dollars with guitar world.

  • if it won an award why is it so cheap?

  • what are they like when you whack the volume up?

  • are these good for blues? or do they have a good range? i have an ibanez rg i love it but i need something that has a better clean setting and can give me what i want

  • @deathcannonx If you want to play blues buy squier bullet!

  • I'm kinda mad I got my Epiphone Special II now lol.

  • best guitar in the world just got one

  • I think I'm gonna buy one of those.

  • Haha looks like the guys at AXL took a listen to this guy. All their badges ARE branded now.

Way to respond to customer feedback!

  • yea they said in an interview that they got the idea from paul (in the video) who called them up and suggested the idea. This is an amazing company that really shows how Gibson and Fender fuck you up the ass with prices for a guitar thats not even as good as an AXL. If only they made acoustics...

  • That's neat how Paul called them up. I remember seeing this video a couple months back and then just recently I noticed how their logo is branded into the headstock. Reminded me of Paul. Wish I could get to a shop where they sell these. I like the El Dorado with the Western chick design.

  • @thejman10 I remember when I first started playing guitar about 18 years ago. You really needed to spend $500 or more to get a decent new guitar. The great thing is that over time technology gets cheaper so those Chinc bastards are able to pop out really good guitars for cheap. Even Gibson changed the design of the Epi's because the Korean's and Chinese were able to make them just as good if not better than the Gibsons.

  • can you change pickup in these guitars

  • Of course.

  • my badge is branded in :)

  • i would buy it if they had a floyd rose with this body style..

  • haha 0:53 i think they listened, cuz i got one a few weeks ago and mine was branded on ther! XD so cool

  • Great sound. I bought 2. Crackle brown and off white. Both needed slight set up and new strings--which all "cheap guitars" need. After that, it's all good. A.X.L. is owned by Johnson. I bought the Johnsons from Costco for $119--with shipping!!! Check out Costco's web site. I love the humbucker.

  • Comment removed

  • very nice guitars, different than all guitars, but it's look great, and have nice sound..

  • i played this today not a bad guitar very good for the price

  • hows the tremolo on this guitar? can you do climbs and dives with them?

  • yes, it sounds in every direction

  • no thats a standard trem to dive you need a pro seris on ibanez or a floyd rose

  • I bought my Axl based on the Guitar World review. My Axl Badwater is the worst guitar I've ever owned. It came, new, with three sprung frets, about five uneven frets that need to be leveled, action you could drive a car under and because of the aforementioned issues if you lower the action it buzzes like crazy, sloppy routing inside, and stripped saddle screws. And the best part? Axl will absolutely not return any of my e-mails. I've been trying to contact that for more than a year.

  • @guitardbucket Hey dumbfuck if you read their website it says that the shop you bought it from is where you need to go to have any warranty issues taken care of. If you bought it from some shithead on EBay where you can't do that well that's just your dumbfuck luck, and a lesson learned. And if you can't do a little fret work and a setup on your own guitar then your a useless piece of shit and shouldn't be allowed near a guitar ever.

  • @proudtobewhite14 My you're an intelligent one, aren't you? Regardless of that, I did buy it from a regular guitar store but it also shouldn't matter where you buy a product from. The manufacturer should always answer e-mails and talk to customers. That's just good business sense.

  • I just picked this bad boy up as my first guitar. It sounds GREAT! The design I have does have the logo burned into the wood, which was a nice touch. It took a little getting used to, because the pickups seem to be super sensitive, and I've got a cheap amp. And for an electric it's surprisingly LOUD unplugged. I love the bright notes and sounds I can get out of it, so pushing the amp into overdrive is almost a crime. I recommend it :).

  • lol this sounds like my expearience wth mine

  • good guitar im thinking of getting one but i bought a guitar once for the same price and it had fret buzz if anyone owns this guitar could you please let me know if the badwater has that problem

  • Awesome!

  • I put a dimarzio dp-100 in mine,it can keep up with any strat with a humbucker. Its almost scary how good it sounds, guitar 130.00 pick up 60.00

  • own one of these the dark brown and up side is played thru marshall 15w bought for sgd200 bucks

sound - 4/5 pts (best position btween the 2 single coils best from clean tone blues to bluesy rock but too thin for harder rock)

    very surprising emg pickups

neck - 4/5 better than alot of guitars out there

    workmanship - 3 / 5 can't expect much u need to setup

downside - bits of fret buzz here and there

  • this is what convinced me me to buy that guitar accept in blue crackle

  • These are surprisingly good guitars (I own one), The pickups sound crisp and full-bodied, clean and dirty - especially the Humbucker, which really wails when you crank it up. With the wide variety of sounds it puts out, it doesn't need coil-tapping. The satin-finished neck feels great, the frets are level and smoothly finished, the intonation on mine is bang-on, and... best of all... you don't have to worry about accidently putting any 'dings' in it. It already looks nice and beat up!

  • the new ones come with the brand like u told them to do. nicce

  • when he starts cycling through the pickups in the very beginning it sounds like octopus' garden

  • who has this guitar? how tall are the frets? are they tall enough so your fingertip doesnt rub the fretboard on a wide vibrato?

  • Does the bridge pickup have the wires to coil tap it?

  • very good sounding guitars for the price, i played 2 months ago just to try and i was suprised at how good it sounded

  • Neck pup sounds best here....

  • I brought one of these a couple of months ago and its become my main guitar (before then ive only ever had one guitar a Vintage SG which was my first guitar, pretty damn good fir a first guitar)

It matches up to my SG in playability and surpasses it with sound quality, i don't worry about getting chips on it or body damage because it already looks distressed.

Also because of its lightness and the fact that it was fair cheap i take it to college.

Id probably even replace it if it was stolen.

  • If Paul like it, I like it.

  • With me being a piano player and my bro being a sick guitarist at 15 years old I have learned a lot him and applied that to my guitar, anyway I picked up one of these bad boys in a shop for myself and me and my bro are very impressed with the sweet pickups and great all round tone and for £180 (UK) you cant beat it! remarkable sound! if you don't want to spend £500+ I think this guy is spot on with the review if your looking for a new lecky see if your guitar shop has one in and cheack it out!

  • or try squier classic vibe :D

  • I kept seeing these in guitar world and thinking, these look badass. I used to hate the look and feel of fenders but now i'm obsessed w/ them, but fenders arnt cheap and this looks way kooler(just my opinon) so I'm totally but this. I found one online for like $179, thats unbeliveable.

  • I bought one. Had to mill the frets, they were sharp on the edges.. like cut your fingers off sharp. I am changing out the tuners.. they suck and slip.. the back of the neck is great.. the C shape is perfect. .I play it all the time.. I don't care for the pickups.. they will be swapped out as well.. but for the money , it is just plain fun.. better than a squire.. but if you want a cheap axe.. buy a Tradition.. they are the best made cheapest out there.

    Boogie on Chilluns

  • BRIDGE PICKUP FTW! But seriously, if I buy this guitar, will I play like him?

  • what is the "ROCK SETTING"???

  • Distortion

  • is this guitar top quality for begginer guitars?

  • Yes this guitar is great for beginners as well as more experienced players. Definitely better than a squire strat. My band plays Speed Metal and i used this while my ESP was getting a tuneup. A+

  • Speed Metal? I guess its a shredable guitar.

  • since they made this vid all badwater guitars have the logo burned in to acentuate the disstressed look. and now they have eldorado and jacknife badwater guitars.

  • ight, i let my friend borrow the CD to this issue of guitar world. and he watched it, and thought this thing sounded awesome. so of course he got it. and im better than he is, so he let me play it to see wat i thought. and the only thing i don't like about it is the neck. its to thick. but other than that its pretty tight. i would buy it and fix the neck.

  • how much bigger is it ? i play wierd and im looking into them i think there awesome.

  • well, if you shred....it's prolly not the best thing. but if you just do kinda easy stuff usually like chords, and lil simple riffs. then it's all yours. I don't know exactly how thick it is....but i play fast, and it's just to thick.

  • i also play fast but ill probably be able to adapt to it i got big hands:P

  • then the best thing to do is prolly just find someone who has one, or just look around. other than that...i have no idea wat to do:P

  • I bought one these in the distressed brown. One of the best purchases I've made. I can't believe that this guitar only cost me $150.00. Pickups are made by EMG, and sound great. After a setup, this guitar playes like a dream. I will buy another one soon.

  • I have a doubt: That pickups set are really to the original guitar??? Because it sound awesone, like seymour duncan. What you think guys?

  • EMG-designed

  • Badass solo setting...YES.

  • It has great action too. Now I just to get money and go buy one...

  • where can i find them???

  • internet. it's a wonderful thing. look them up.

  • this isn't the sound of a guitar that you pay for 200 bucks, nice I just might get myself one...

  • can anyone please give me a link where he does a review of the fender deluxe strat hss? plz anyone!!!

  • How does this compare to a Squier strat? I'm thinking about getting either this one or a Squier...

  • all sqiuers suck and these prob arent that great. you get what you pay for with guitars

  • @Guitarguy46599 Let me guess you're one of those fucktards who think you custom shop Les Paul is really custom built? News flash you dick sucking fag your "custom" guitar is no more custom made than any other guitar out there. All the parts are made in a machine and then some retard puts it together by "hand". That goes for the $50 Walmart guitar all the way up to the $5000+ guitars. The only way you're going to get a true custom guitar is to build it yourself or plunk down a lot of cash.

  • Squier strats are actually just fine. The pickups on these guitars are better though because they're EMG.

  • No, they are EMG design...like Duncan Design...they arn't Seymour Duncans...they are cheap models of them.

  • There's nothing cheap about these pickups. If you don't want to believe me that's fine, pick one of these guitars up and try it for yourself. Or, just read the reviews of in Guitar World and Guitar Player. They both said they were surprised by how good these pickups really are.

  • dude the pickups say emg on them...lol

  • I like the Mayhem series jacknife. best v ive ever played

  • That's cool, I have the marquee SRO in mint green, it sounds great.

  • I bought one of these guitars (The White Crackle, actually ordered the Brown - but got this one). I bought this guitar because I'm addicted to purchasing guitars (12 now). I'm extremely surprised by its playability. It sounds and plays great. I guess they listened to Paul, because mine has a "Fire Branded" label on the head stock.

  • Im getting one of those guitars. any recommendations??

  • does this guitar stay in tune well?

  • nope, mine is untuned in one day

  • I'm betting you're having the same problem as I am. It's the guitar nut. It pinches the strings (do you hear a "ping" sometimes when you tune up?) so the tuning will slip all the time. You can get a new nut for around ten bucks, it's an easy fix. But other than that, for 150 bucks, these things sound great.

  • you could just use graphite as a lubricant, all luthiers do it. just rub some pencil lead on the nut, should be good to go.

  • Yeah, I use pencil graphite on all my guitar's nuts, and it works great. It's just that on the Axl the nut was cut so poorly it doesn't help.

  • ahhh... oh well. what can you expect from a 200 dollar guitar? still seems like a good buy. i might get one a couple years from now.

  • that sounds wrong :) LOL

  • Just for you all to know the name AXL, is pronounced A.X.L.

  • lol, i've been saying "Axel"

  • you're right you do pronounce it axel.

  • nope, on a tag found on quite a few of there products "AXL [pronounced A.X.L] is a...."

  • i mean guitar ;p

  • dude i have been looking for a viedo on this song

    first comment

  • what the ? what song lol
