The best blues song ever. Period. Oozes feeling, like no other. I've over 250 blues albums and have listened to most of the old blues masters and new pretenders, but NONE comes close to this soulful rendition by the best british blues guitarist of all time. I'm lucky to possess a Yamah MSG guitar signed by Peter Green. It's been re-varnished by Martin Boothe; who designed the guitar; so the signature can never be rubbed off. Priceless. What a player.
This record is a masterpiece of passion combined with restraint and control, which is the 'secret' of Great blues. Note that there no guitar fills between the vocal lines, except for Mayall's haunting slide guitar lines. Then, when Peter Green plays his impeccable solo, his use of space and dynamics is absolute perfection.
@guitarandharp Gary Moore must have copied his vocal vibrato from this tune. And youre right about the solo. Reminds me of a Danny Kirwan song Without You.
PLEASE EVERYONE CHECK OUT A FEW OF MY GUITAR VIDS INCLUDING SOME ORIGINAL JAM/SOLO STUFF AND AN ORIGINAL SLIDE JAM. I REALLY WANT YOUR FEEDBACK!!! CHEERS!!!!
One of the best blues pieces i have ever heard. Peter Green in my own opinion was the greatest british blues guitarist, not only did he stepp up to the plate when he was in the bluesbreakers, but did so much of a better job then eric clapton.
@sonicattack77 They shouldn't put the Like and Dislike right next to each other. I've never voted thumbs down except by accident (and , then I feel terrible! ).
@Psico5 lol I get what you mean! I love the blues to death, but some songs like this one are more than I can take. Otis Rush's "Double Trouble" used to haunt me in my sleep sometimes!
Great electric blues players have come and gone, but the three years we experienced Peter green at his youthful best was the very essence of what depths and heights the sound of his music could be reached and shared by every listener with an open heart.
I have witnesed Mr BB King hipnotice night clubs...Caught Jimi Hendrix electryfying the San Diego Sports Arena. Steve Ray Vaughn Knock The Socks Off SDSU amphitheatrer. Santana at the old footfall field at SDSU in 1968. Later Santana also glowed at SDSU amphitheater. Diging the blues of all the other blues greats. I'm somewhat ashamed to be barely dicovering Peter Green, The Great...No...'The Greatest'. This song just can't be listened to one time. Also Listen to Peter Greens Supernatural.
I am so thankful people still respect Peter Green and John Mayall...so many don't have a clue how great they are...especially Mr. Green. I heard both men live in separate bands back in 1970...no words can tell
Try the 2-disc version of the Mayall album 'A Hard Road'. It's a Decca label release, not a bootleg. In addition to the actual album, the 2nd disc contains what was originally a Holland-only release (I believe) called 'So Many Roads.' It's all stuff like this and other Green tracks including instrumentals 'Greeny' and 'Rubber Duck', with the likes of Mick Fleetwood and Aynsley Dunbar on drums. Absolutely worth owning, and, I believe, easy enough to purchase online.
Virtually unknown, this track is a perfect example of how brilliant PG was - there is more silence than sound, but each note is searing. Nothing is unnecessary and he leaves you hanging out there, just waiting for the next note or phrase. Genius. Pure genius. Just listen to that final short outro.
This is evidence without a doubt that Peter Green was the greatest blues player, singer and writer of his and anyone else's generation. Love everything he ever did. Magic.
After 42 years I just heard my favorite song of all time, this song. I'm done, I'm not looking anymore. It would take me a 100 years to find something like this.
I thought I was alone until I heard this song. I've had my share of life experiences - in the context in which you speak - and evil people are especially noteworthy. Life can beat a person down to a pulp, it really can.
@seandeyoung01 The track is still available on CD. It's on a John Mayall compilation called 'Thru the years'. I agree - it's one of my all-time favourite PG tracks.
@seandeyoung01: Well, no offense, but if that pace is you favorite pace for your life, then you’re a pretty boring dude. ^^
I prefer the… let’s say “faster version”. To understand what I mean, wait until you feel a bit emotional (like while there’s a thunderstorm outside), but also like you could rule the world right now with all that energy. Then listen to this: watch?v=k7x51zWOBBs
Peter Green IMO is the best ever Blues Player .... incredibley soulfull and blending of the right notes ..and his 'out of phase' tone ..is simply delicious....amazing..tks for posting this!
@nyctom21 If you want to get close to PG's sound, look for the Vintage V100mrpgm 'lemon drop' guitar. It's not all that expensive (around £270 in the UK) and has been wired up out of phase and provided with specially designed pickups which combine to let you emulate PG's classic sound. But as for playing like him - well - that's something else altogether!!!
@ARTOONIXUSER I bought a Vintage Paradise and had the pups wired out of phase. Sounds spot on. Did the same with my Tokai LP and that sounds cool too. But to play like PG youd just have to be PG!
I wasn't aware that this record was part of afilm; I can imagine that it works well!
I bought it on vinyl over forty years ago. It still sounds great. Everyone on this recording plays respectfully, with restraint and a relaxed yet intense feel. This is the 'secret' of blues performance, which many seem to overlook...And Peter staked his claim to greatness.
Best wishes to all fans of Peter Green & Duster Bennett - the real Blues Brothers!

Great! The bass line is very close with that of an ole Savoy Brown song, as well.
I think the name of it was "I'm tired", but, I could be wrong.
Nice upload!
