  • The best blues song ever. Period. Oozes feeling, like no other. I've over 250 blues albums and have listened to most of the old blues masters and new pretenders, but NONE comes close to this soulful rendition by the best british blues guitarist of all time. I'm lucky to possess a Yamah MSG guitar signed by Peter Green. It's been re-varnished by Martin Boothe; who designed the guitar; so the signature can never be rubbed off. Priceless. What a player.

  • Further to my comment of 2 years ago:

This record is a masterpiece of passion combined with restraint and control, which is the 'secret' of Great blues. Note that there no guitar fills between the vocal lines, except for Mayall's haunting slide guitar lines. Then, when Peter Green plays his impeccable solo, his use of space and dynamics is absolute perfection.

    So great...

  • @guitarandharp Gary Moore must have copied his vocal vibrato from this tune. And youre right about the solo. Reminds me of a Danny Kirwan song Without You.

  • Aynsley Dunbar brush work cannot be mistaken

  • what a sound he can make, so soulful hats off mr green.

  • My GOD, does it get any better ? I think NOT !!

  • Searing guitar work yet not overdone ,sheer brilliance....few guitarists have haunting soulfull vocalls as greeny does, makes you cry !

  • wow....just perfect

  • @jblackmd1 John Mayall ..... the father of British Blues! Peter Green is awesome!!

  • Vocal sounds a lot like Clapton!

  • @jfaliveno ... except that PG is a better singer. By miles.

  • few songs leave me speechless...this is one

  • muzyka dodajaca optymizmu i radosci zycia

  • One of the best blues pieces i have ever heard. Peter Green in my own opinion was the greatest british blues guitarist, not only did he stepp up to the plate when he was in the bluesbreakers, but did so much of a better job then eric clapton.

  • And also, does anybody know if this is from an album?

  • @penisface66

This one is on the A Hard Road CD. You can easily find it on Amazon, Ebay, all the usual places

  • @penisface66 This is off the album 'A Hard Road'. Peter Green replaced Clapton in the Bluesbreakers.

  • WOW, when he started playing that solo.... no song i can remember has ever made me feel like that

  • Class, just pure class......

  • Which one is singing ..? Sounds to me like Peter Green's voice, but I don't know for sure ...

  • @silkysunshine This is Peter singing

  • @7maxboy Thank you!

  • Great! The bass line is very close with that of an ole Savoy Brown song, as well.

I think the name of it was "I'm tired", but, I could be wrong.

    Nice upload!

    Jerry

  • There should be at least 10 times more views than what is shown. A truly amazing song

  • MayaAtlantis...thanks for posting this. Sure does bring the memories back.

  • who spoiled this with a dislike? must have been a moron

  • @sonicattack77 They shouldn't put the Like and Dislike right next to each other. I've never voted thumbs down except by accident (and , then I feel terrible! ).

  • @donaldnewmanmedone yeah i.ve done that to :0) & i feel like a moron :0(

  • Wow, I am amazed, just an awesome song with so much to offer

  • Fuck... it's so sad.

  • @Psico5 Its the blues!!

  • @Psico5 lol I get what you mean! I love the blues to death, but some songs like this one are more than I can take. Otis Rush's "Double Trouble" used to haunt me in my sleep sometimes!

  • Great electric blues players have come and gone, but the three years we experienced Peter green at his youthful best was the very essence of what depths and heights the sound of his music could be reached and shared by every listener with an open heart.

  • That cuts it...I'm going to buy this album. I know just where to go too.

  • I have witnesed Mr BB King hipnotice night clubs...Caught Jimi Hendrix electryfying the San Diego Sports Arena. Steve Ray Vaughn Knock The Socks Off SDSU amphitheatrer. Santana at the old footfall field at SDSU in 1968. Later Santana also glowed at SDSU amphitheater. Diging the blues of all the other blues greats. I'm somewhat ashamed to be barely dicovering Peter Green, The Great...No...'The Greatest'. This song just can't be listened to one time. Also Listen to Peter Greens Supernatural.

  • I am so thankful people still respect Peter Green and John Mayall...so many don't have a clue how great they are...especially Mr. Green. I heard both men live in separate bands back in 1970...no words can tell

  • This is sooooo fine. Thx for the post.

  • after clapton left mayall just said, "my new guitarist is better"... that and hearing green's recordings are confirmation enough for me...

  • This kicks Claptons ass

  • a shame what befell this awesome player.imagine what he could have done if healthy all these years.

  • this is just fucking amazing..

    thanks mayaAtlantis

  • The Human emotion of melancholy so sublimely expressed......

where words fail music speaks...(Hans Christian Andersen)

  • Try the 2-disc version of the Mayall album 'A Hard Road'. It's a Decca label release, not a bootleg. In addition to the actual album, the 2nd disc contains what was originally a Holland-only release (I believe) called 'So Many Roads.' It's all stuff like this and other Green tracks including instrumentals 'Greeny' and 'Rubber Duck', with the likes of Mick Fleetwood and Aynsley Dunbar on drums. Absolutely worth owning, and, I believe, easy enough to purchase online.

  • Virtually unknown, this track is a perfect example of how brilliant PG was - there is more silence than sound, but each note is searing. Nothing is unnecessary and he leaves you hanging out there, just waiting for the next note or phrase. Genius. Pure genius. Just listen to that final short outro.

  • it's true... aint the best sad blues track ever....

  • This is evidence without a doubt that Peter Green was the greatest blues player, singer and writer of his and anyone else's generation. Love everything he ever did. Magic.

  • Yeah it's almost scary how great Peter Green was. It's music from the beyond.

  • mmmmmmmmmm so cool!

  • After 42 years I just heard my favorite song of all time, this song. I'm done, I'm not looking anymore. It would take me a 100 years to find something like this.

  • @seandeyoung01 Do people actually feel this way?

  • @seandeyoung01 Yeah... people actually do feel this way happens to you on the streets.. with drugs.. evil people.. you got to litterally get away

  • I thought I was alone until I heard this song. I've had my share of life experiences - in the context in which you speak - and evil people are especially noteworthy. Life can beat a person down to a pulp, it really can.

  • agreed

  • @seandeyoung01 Yeah it does happen.. on the street.. happens with drugs.. evil people.. youve got to litterally get away watch City by the Sea

  • @seandeyoung01 The track is still available on CD. It's on a John Mayall compilation called 'Thru the years'. I agree - it's one of my all-time favourite PG tracks.

  • @seandeyoung01: Well, no offense, but if that pace is you favorite pace for your life, then you’re a pretty boring dude. ^^

I prefer the… let’s say “faster version”. To understand what I mean, wait until you feel a bit emotional (like while there’s a thunderstorm outside), but also like you could rule the world right now with all that energy. Then listen to this: watch?v=k7x51zWOBBs

  • @seandeyoung01 Amen!

  • @seandeyoung01 you should have a listen to 'Without you' by Fleetwood Mac before your done buddy...something tells me you may like it too!

  • @Paulfieldz Thanks buddie, you are right "Without you" is sublime. Liked it very much.

  • Peter Green IMO is the best ever Blues Player .... incredibley soulfull and blending of the right notes ..and his 'out of phase' tone ..is simply delicious....amazing..tks for posting this!

  • @nyctom21 This isn't the "out of phase" tone. You need to hear "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac" (album).

  • @nyctom21 Right on! Peter Green & Rory Gallagher. The best ever.

  • @Gallagherfreak100 dont forget PAUL KOSSOFF!!

    LONG LIVE ROCK 'N' ROLL

  • @nyctom21 If you want to get close to PG's sound, look for the Vintage V100mrpgm 'lemon drop' guitar. It's not all that expensive (around £270 in the UK) and has been wired up out of phase and provided with specially designed pickups which combine to let you emulate PG's classic sound. But as for playing like him - well - that's something else altogether!!!

  • @ARTOONIXUSER I bought a Vintage Paradise and had the pups wired out of phase. Sounds spot on. Did the same with my Tokai LP and that sounds cool too. But to play like PG youd just have to be PG!

  • Play that shit Peter !!!

  • like you say....Play that shit Pisolaté pete!

  • this song is on the movie city by the sea.... one of the greatest movies ever...one of the best songs ever....

  • Hi 2rated

I wasn't aware that this record was part of afilm; I can imagine that it works well!

I bought it on vinyl over forty years ago. It still sounds great. Everyone on this recording plays respectfully, with restraint and a relaxed yet intense feel. This is the 'secret' of blues performance, which many seem to overlook...And Peter staked his claim to greatness.

Best wishes to all fans of Peter Green & Duster Bennett - the real Blues Brothers!

    Thanks for posting this.

  • man, i wish i was you...

  • Superb blues

  • piola

  • love the blues
