simple past tense : 陈述过去发生了

例：I (loved) her for ten years .(即过去爱，现在不爱她）

present perfect T : 表过去和现在仍继续的事

例：I(ve loved) her for ten years. (即现在还爱着她）

past perfect T : 表示站在事件的过去讲过去

例:He had parted with her wife ,yesterday（过去的过去）

Lest anyone get confused, simple past tense is: I finished my work. A) You did not finish your work when I asked you to. B) I did finish my work. 'Did' must be stressed and is used here only to refute the negative 'did not'.

Imagine how you would say 'it is very expensive' in Chinese. Now imagine how you might say the same thing in response to the statement 'it is not very expensive'.

In Cantonese it might be something like this:

taai gwai la

m'hai taai gwai

hai taai gwai: needs this context.

表達很好, 但係past perfect 個度可以講得更簡明一點. 例如, 兩個以上過去動作, 最先發生的動作用past perfect，等人明白係邊一個過去動作先發生. e.g When I came home, I realized that I had lost my wallet. 發生既動作有came home, realized,lost my wallet, 而lost my wallet 係最先發生所以用past perpect tense.

& I have finished my work是过去完成式,即系中文意思系我已经完成工作
