I love the sultriness of her voice and the fact that she doesnt have to go low for this song. It simply flows so softly and like I said, sultry. The most beautifull seguidille I've ever heard.

This is my favorite version of Carmen by far although I like a darker voice like Obraztsova singing the card scene. She opted for the higher throughout and did it brilliantly each time. Only once did I hear a young mezzo at the university concert doing what she did at the end of the Toreador's song. Price as Carmen commanded his attention at the end with the other two women vying for his attention so to speak. Love the way she tossed the note. What a brilliant cast - intelligent conducting!

Leontyne recorded Carmen for RCA in either the 60's or, from that Afro she has on, the 70's. She sang Habanera and Carmen arias in recitals but she never sang Carmen on stage. The recording is terrific if you want to buy it. It's on Amazon.com and includes Corelli, Freni and Merrill. It was conducted by Karajan.

A lo anterior dicho, quisiera agragar; he podido, aparte de Carmen, escuchar y apreciar, en otros roles, tal ves los que no todos se fijan, pero yo me identifico mas con estos, donde he podido apre- ciarla; por ej. Aryadne in Naxos, donde la encuentro formidable, tambien, sus magistrales Porgy and Bess, sea com- pleta, o seleccion, o partes sueltas y en Helene Aegypciake y en Frau ohne Scha- tem, monologos de ambos personajes. Creo, y espero, no ser arbitrario, con mi gusto.

Como adoro esta grab., y la concidero un estupendo trabajo de Price, yo diria mi preferido de ella, y por el grandioso elen- co. Es que quiero hacer una pregunta; ¿Porque tanto que se habla de Price de su Verdi, o Puccini y su Mozart y etc, mu- chos, pero muchos y de verdad, no quie- ren y, en parte, se olvidan, o no hablan, de esta Fantastica grab; Es una sensacion mia nada mas? Mis grab., Fundamentales, de Carmen, y las dos las tengo, son esta de Price y la de Callas.
