Direct Acccess is supported by the WIndows Server 2008 R2 Technologies base, and will require manual configuration and in this case a further server to support it.
Remote access is cool, but what I really want is Direct Access. That way my users can use their laptops to seamlessly sync with and get files from the file server's shares. I did this in my previous (enterprise) company and it was the perfect way to work--you didn't have to establish a VPN. Internet connectivity? Check. You're good to go!
active directory and group policy is not the same in essentials?
