@gotbapped from an artist named "Wiz Dinero" the track name " Land of my Dreams" .. I believed this track was released in back the year 1999 or 2000. I have a compilation album with this track.
Yep, me too! Heard it on NPR while on a road trip and wrote it down so I'd remember to look it up today. The sound of this song is so haunting. I need to check out the rest of her work! Thanks, as always, NPR!
Beautiful understated style that was all her own. I emailed her about this song and it turned out to be an Aretha Franklin cover. Another hard to find song but totally worth checking out.
Once went to the Mean Fiddler in London expecting to see Anna Dominowith my dyslexic mate, turned out to be Anno Dominii, a wonderful punk band, ha ha!
Thanks for sharing this: any chance of posting the song which starts out "Take that..." and goes on something like "Give me a reason; something to go on...On with the show and..." ? Just love her work.
This song is supposed to have been written by Aretha Franklin, but if that is the case - why can´t I find the original on the net? Does anyone know where I can find it? I´d like to record a version of this one myself and I wish to know the history of the song in all its reincarnations. Thanks.
Hi...yes Aretha recorded this song. Track 12 on double cd Jazz & Soul. Aretha's version is shorter, but unbelievable. I think she made a deal with satan to get her to sound as perfect as she did. Amazing!!! Hope you find it.
I just love this video... one of the best things I've found on youtube... been sending it to everyone I know... is there a video for LAKE?... my favorite Anna song.
Before Portishead, Feist, Charlotte Gainsbourg and any of those chicks who sing with Air (except Francoise Hardy) there was Anna Domino. In 1989 Anna's "Colouring In The Edge & The Outline" EP came with a sticker on it marketing her as Nico meets Pegg Lee. Not to mention those cheek bones! I interviewed her about 10 years ago for BUST and she sent me Chritmas cards for many years after that. What a great artist and person.
pizzipez is great, youtube is great, who could imagine that once I would see an Anna Domino Video... somebody could post a song called "88" ? her best...
damn right. first time ever.she was one of my favorite singers while teenager. magnificent voice. (the video is embarassing - no one idea in it... LOL)
The chorus part of this song was sample in a Hip Hop song many years later.
