This was indeed the first non-filmy song prepared for the launch of Vividh Bharti. Another exquisite Anilda-Mannada No is from Hamdard, a raagmala with Lata..Ritu aaye ritu jaaye sakhi ri
Truly a beautiful blend of words, music and class singing by Manna da. There is another song : "Nach mere mor jara nach jara nach " from the film "tere dwar khada bhagwan"" in bahar raag.
I recently heard Amin Sayani's 15 Volumes of Binaca Geetmala Ki Chhaonmein and I think he mentions there that this song was relayed on radio when AIR's Vividh Bharati program first hit the air waves. Words fail to describe Manna Da's genius and brrilliance!
extraordinarily beautiful song with the magical composition and perfect rendition by manna dey to match . ghungroo could not sound better . i now remember hearing it in my childhood on vividh bharti non film afternoon prgrm or a dd prgrm on manna dey . absolutely fantastic ! i found this while looking for another non film manna dey song ''saawan ki rm jhim mein '' i have always remembered . thanks a lot for this precious delight .
Could I please add one more lost gem to yours and Kalyanisunil's nomination? It is "Yeh Kaun Chala, yeh kaun chala" most likely by Madhukar Rajasthani
And I thought MD's Laga Chunari Mein Daagh in Dil Hi To Hai was his most virtuoso performance! As breathtaking as that was, this one sounds even more melodious and has at least as much technical sophistication as Laga Chunari Mein Daagh. Thanks to dear Ritu for the forward, and thanks to sgtalageri for the upload.
Oh what a delight! :) I grew up listening to & dancing on this mesmerizing music GEM! :) Beautiful! I was fortunate to have such Musical Gems at home that my sweet dad loved playing on the humble record player! :) NO words can express my utmost delight in finding this! THANK YOU. I felt *this* delighted B4 ONLY on finding the Ravi Shankar/Yehudi Menhuin Sitar/Violin of 'East Meets West' album on YT that represents equal Nostalgic Musical Treasure Value & JOY to me. ! :) Ritu, USA, April 13, 09.
The further charm of this song is that with the help of the exquisitely synchronized ghunghroo sounds(that you pointed out in your message,Ritu) the listener can visualize an enrapturing dancer in front of the singer. That engagement with the performance comes in haiku fashion- -not by what we see but by what our imagination can summon. Very special.
In fact I think one of the reasons I've had such a passion for dance as well throughout my life, in particular Katthak is because of the beautifully synchronized ghungroo to the taal of the tabla in *this* song played often that got etched in my very young mind as an inspiration to dance to, to my heart's content due to the positive encouragement I got from my dear dad, who saw & knew all too well he had that spark in me he could turn to passion for dance & classical music early on. Worked! :)
Just ...delightful....
