  • I have some LP that spell his name as Pandit Shanta Prasad. Is his name Pandit Samta Prasad or Pandit Shanta Prasad.

    Could someone clear this misunderstanding.

  • @penta15786 Its Pandit Samta Prasad Mishra.

  • even sound is not clear at all..

  • First in right side is Sukhwinder Singh and forth Yogesh Samsi... I'm I correct ?

  • @76harap76 I believe you are indeed correct. I see them as well.

  • Tabla played by Pandit Samta Prasad in the bollywood song "Nache Man Mora..." seems divine. I am a Tabla buff myself who has spent a whale of a time listening to tabla but this tabla is simply divine. A noble soul that Pandit Samta Prasad has been in his life can be the recipient of divine blessings to have this stature.

  • Pt Anokhelal Mishra Ji. He was so far beyond normal human capabilities. He used to walk past my Tabla teachers house every morning on his way to Ma Ganga to bathe, then he would go back to his house and practice for 18 hours every day (so my tabla guru told me). He was a poor man, it was only politics in Hindustani music that prevented him from being more widely known.

  • gudaii Maharaj improved alot of his technics with guidence of Pt Anokhelal Mishra Ji from Benares. History doesn`t mention this...

Infact these tabla players where are children @ the time and they where inspired by The tabla samrat Pt Anokhelal Mishra.

  • he was way ahead of his time, many famous Tabla players of today play his creations and try to play his style.

  • is this pt samta parsad gudai mahraj ?

  • laya is phenomonal

  • U wish this was in Amritser mate. This Siri Bhani Sahib. in the Partab Mandir.... The headquaters of H.H.Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji, who is present in this video. This was a program organised for the bhog of Late Avtar Singh Namdhari an amazing tabla player. Ustad Allah Rakha present, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Imrat Khan and many more. I have also have the full recording to this.

  • Sat Sri AKAL ji. Can U please mail me this recording?

  • So why be Hankaari about it.? If your so called Satguru is H.H, why isnt the artist covering his head out of respect? Musicians who perform in Darbar Sahib respect the true Satguru who cover there head when performing. Notwithstanding, OUR Gurus never believed in IDOL/Mandir worship as your so callled H.H does.

  • Pandit Samta Prasad is sikkkkkk! and he doesn't wear a rammala because he knows this isn't a holy place and "NO" Guru is present. i repeat this "NO" Guru is present Pandit knows... He was Bhai Gurmeet Singh Virdis teacher wasn't he?

  • i think so yes he learnt from Ustad Bahdur Singh also

  • thats baljit singh keeping ler on the vajja, where did you get this video from if i may ask?

  • nice nice

  • this is classic tabla, the kind you can listen to and learn somthing.

  • sonofthedestroyer do us all a favor and jsut STFU...and one how the hell can u critisize a musician such as zakir??!?!?! YOUR WACK!!!!...just plz keep your thoughts to ur self

  • The moguls may have influenced the music and its structure but that is all that can be said. There is a vast difference in arabic and hindustani music today.

The argument is not about the origins of indian music according to connoisseurs or layman, it is not about tamils or northeners, it is not about ustads or pandits, it is about respecting greats and their beliefs. u are under attack because you called Pt. Samta Prasad an idiot. Hear me now, BUMBARAAS, red red wine an ting.

  • Sonofdestroyer, most of your posts in any clip with excellent music are derogatory in some way. Keep your thoughts to yourself.

  • u know sonofthedestroyer, i dont even know you but i really wanna kick ur ass!!! I see your post on every good clip that i listen to, and its always the same thing. You say something stupid, and everyone else replies on how annoying you are. So i suggest that you either go with the flow or dont mention any of your opinions.

  • I wont waste my energy arguing with a 15 year old child. I say stupid things? Everything i say is backed up with EVIDENCE. A fifteen year old baby is not going to stop me from expressing my opinions.

  • sonofthedestroyer, don't u think u r speaking too much.apani aukad main reh sale......samta prasadji ke bareme kehane ke bareme kam se kam 10 bar soch.....

  • Write in English Bitch!

  • essentially he is saying think 10 times before saying anything about Samta Prasad-ji. I agree, he is a big Ustad, and the music itself is older and more advanced than anyone, all generations considered

  • near the end of the clip, i love the way he plays fast so effortlessly, its incredible, just a question about Pinky ji, did he learn from Samta Prasad as well as Kishan Maharaj?

  • Nah only Pandit Kishen Maharaj and Ustad Nihal Singh before he went to Benaras

  • I feel fortunate to see him performing..Thanks for posting this rare clip whereever he is performing is no consequence to what he is performing..

  • this is no way the golden temple. so change the dam text that goes with this video. and, there is pinki ji in the background aswell!!

  • Shame about the sound quality but its great to have some evidence of this great player on youtube. Its appropriate this is at the Golden Temple as he is the master of the Golden "NA" He brought a new and exciting sound to the art of Tabla.

  • This is not the Golden Temple but a place where hundreds of the worlds greatest musicians have performed

  • Sonofthedestroyer you are a complete knob! the tabla is very old and is dipicted on some very old temples of india, you in any life will never beable to play like Samta prasad ji, have some respect he was one of the gretest tabla players ever.

  • Sukh64 the tabla is several hundred years old. There are drums in india which are thousands of years old. Tabla was created during Islamic rule in Northern India. If you read what i posted above i clearly mention 'Fantastic Tabla player'. You didnt see this did you. I criticised him for what he said. The journalists in Tamil Nadu were laughing at him. It was in the papers.

  • this is a sign of humility and beleive, just because people laughed at him doesn't mean his theories are wrong.

  • chhoor thoo aa? if it is not Chuup GET OUT.

And you sonofthedestroyer, BUMBARAAS and have respect for the greats, to be a legend one must be so immersed into the art that it becomes a religion and these myths do not seem so far fetched to that person. if shiva split his udukk into two or medusa had snake for hair leave the myths alone, turaas. besides what do tamils know about the origins of north indian music, BUMBARAAS.

CHOOR THOO AA? LET ME KNOW TURAAS.

  • Tamils follow CARNATIC MUSIC. It is common knowledge that Carnatic music of Dravidians is much older than Hindustani music. It is ridiculous to suggest that Tabla is older than Mridangam etc. All the mathematics in Hindustani music were derived from Carnatic whereas the melody of Hindustani came with the Moguls from Persia etc. Carnatic rhythm structure is much more complicated than Hindustani system.

  • their is no such thing as Dravidian and Aryan. go read the Vedas. That is a flawed idea brought up by Europeans to to force the western religion on the people who lived in the Indian subcontinent, and somehow they still teach that shit in schools

  • @sonofthedestroyer So please tell us, what were the North Indians doing before the Mughals came. We are all years unless you believe that classical music didn't exist in North India before the Mughals.

  • @r8rdarklord,

Original Indian people were dark skinned. So the concept of 'North Indian' did not exist back in those days. So prior to all the invasions, people living in Northern India would played classical music similar to south. Because the people were the same. After invasions, the older culture was pushed to the south and redesigned in the north.

I know this as tamil people lived in Indus Valley (Pakistan) and there were black Indian who built Angkor Temples in Cambodia in ancient times.

  • @sonofthedestroyer This is just theory there is no evidence of all this. If you think this is true then why do our scriptures refer to fair skinned people unless you think it's a figment of there imagination. The fact is the Dhrupad-Dhamar style of singing pre-dates Mughal or for that matter any invasion. Why, because of compositions, constructions and structure of Alaap. Most big gharana Ustads can trace their lineage back to there fore-fathers, who were originally hindus.

  • @r8rdarklord Unless you are saying that Dhrupad-Dhamar is similiar to Carnatic style of singing. There are similarities but there are also major differences.

  • @r8rdarklord,

We can sit here debating what is fact and fiction forever. Much of India history has been falsified and rewritten by invaders once they took over. Many of these impostors created the caste system and set themselves on the higher rungs of the social ladder so they can continue oppressing and lying to the original Indians whom they pushed down.

The systematic destruction of the original black Indians is ongoing to this day, thankfully some still fight it.

  • @sonofthedestroyer I went to Goa on holiday and some peopel was telling me about indus valley and mohendro daro great civilisation in india before the tamahu came to rob and destroy. Yes I agree the Ancient Indian was all 1 peopel and not the division like they is today

  • Fantastic tabla player. It is a real shame that he spoke like an idiot when he performed in Chennai (Madras). He said that the Tabla was formed when Lord Shiva split his Udukka into two. Therefore it is the oldest drum on earth. This is complete rubbish

  • Yo where u get this recording from?? U got the full thing or is this all of it?? reply bac Jas

  • Thank you very much! This is Golden Recording :)

  • I was told it was at the godlen temple, but now that you bring it up, I think ur right! Thanks for the heads up!!! Good catch

  • Trsut me, it's not called "golden" temple because of the paintwork, it has other reasons too ;)

  • Are you sure this is golden temple? It may be amritsar though.

Those are naamdharis not sikhs. Thought i would let you know.

But thanks for the brilliant video

  • I don't know....there is golden temple in vanaras too.

Also there are many live halls around there..

  • Namdharis ARE sikhs. 100% Sikhs.

  • No.

  • No... get your facts right... Namdharis are "classed" as sikhs but, a sikh doesn't go around idoling other so called Gurus.

  • oh dear.. here we go again.. Why don't you just carry on believing what you want to believe and let others believe what they want to believe? Unless, of course, you are at such a stage of enlightenment that you are qualified to judge others. Peace.

  • there's a right way... and there is a wrong way, yh? i have no objections with them. just a true simple fact...

  • what is right and what is wrong? my friend, the only thing that we can say is that there are many many ways.. an infinite number.. end of..

  • end of? and what is right and what is wrong?

  • end of meaning thats the end of my statement.. this quote sort of says what I mean ""Let go of your attachment to being right, and suddenly your mind is more open. You're able to benefit from the unique viewpoints of others, without being crippled by your own judgment."..

  • lol... ok ok... i am very sorry for what i said, but i'm intitled to my view but don't get me wrong i like namdharis they do very good kirtan

but as i said im sorry for causing conflict here.
