  • You should put the WAR ON TERROR right next to TERRORISM. That should put it into perspective for the sheeple

  • Elect HIM as the next president. He knows what the hell hes talking about. Pretty unique for a government official!

  • i wonder where government tyranny/oppression would measure on that chart?

  • Those people piss me the fuck off. bunch of assholes give away our individual freedom for "Security" from the molesting government. Im so fucking sick and tired of the fearful cowards in this nation who jump at the sound of "terrorism" on tv.

  • This guy is awesome.

  • The number of hands raised for terrorism is a measurement for brainwashing success in America.

  • Any logical thinking person can see that Stossel is correct and the facts back him up. Yet, if you tell this to the average American they simply don't have the capacity to understand or believe it. Until we Americans change the way we think about our lives and our government, nothing substantial will ever change in this country. Be prepared for many more years of misery at the hands of politicians and the main stream media.

  • Stossel is the man!!!!

  • I think that the reason we fear terrorism is because it is not a choice we make, like smoking, driving, or flying, etc. It is a choice that is made for us by murderers.

  • Bring this information into schools!

  • Alio, look, I congratulate you for your valiant efforts at distorting the truth. I suppose someone has to do it. However, the simple fact is about 40,000 people die in car accidents every year in the US alone, and many more are injured. Practically no one died from flying, even with those "dangerous" takeoffs and landings. Nothing you do can bridge that very wide chasm, and everyone who reads your spurious claims should be reminded of that refrain regarding lies, damned lies, and statistics.

  • Genius!

  • Do you think Bill O'Reilly would ever do a show like this? I pointed out to a fan of his that he's probably *never* done a show that doesn't hype up the "terrorist threat". I certainly haven't seen a show of his that doesn't talk, in serious and hushed tones, about how the 'terrists are coming to get us. Considering his unfortunate popularity, Bill O'Reilly is as responsible as anyone for hyping up the terrorism non-threat.

  • Stossels my homeboy

  • Some very good points are posited here. It's nice to see that some people are still willing to sit down, establish a sound perspective and disseminate it.

  • John Stossel is awesome!

  • damn stossel, did you ever not have a moustache?

  • @Nothingizm I imagine him coming out of the womb with a big old bristly bush.

  • Stossel is pimp. I want to grow a cool stash cuz of him!

  • The MAIN Fox News Channel's primetime lineup should be Stossel(instead of O'Reilly) at 8, FreedomWatch with Napolitano(instead of Hannity) at 9, and a Reason/Fox Special with Nick Gillespie(instead of Greta) at 10.

  • @physicalgenius

Let me correct you on that:

    Dennis Miller 7pm

    Stossel 8pm

    Freedomwatch 9pm

    Reason/Fox Special 10pm

    Red Eye 11pm

  • @hellofaname I can live with that. :)

  • @physicalgenius Pull Rick Santelli from CNBC and I'd be a regular viewer.

  • @physicalgenius yeah, it could be called the ''triple bill'' of freedom

  • @jffryh ....rrrright.

  • @jffryh

Perhaps it will but doesn't answer the main question, which treehuggers fail to realize: is man responsible with his CO2 emissions, or is it a natural process that has been happening since beginning of Earth?

  • The problem with Terrorism is the media REFUSES to say who is doing it because they're being politically correct. Muslims. Just say Muslims. If we stopped Muslim immigration Terrorism would be reduced to Bill Ayers type college Liberals. If we were able to read the Koran and ahadith as Muslims have agreed upon for 1000 years we'd know why there's still a vibrant Muslim slave trade in Africa. We'd know why we needed Letters of Marque and Reprisal. We'd know why there are gang-rapes in Malmo.

  • Hey, LP, what music did you use this time?

  • @selfrealizedexile It's Magic Sound Fabric - Levitation Groove

  • awesome video. But, he happens to be wrong about the flaying thing. You have to compare deaths per-mile since a lot less people fly then drive. Driving as actually safer per mile traveled then flying.

    But, still, some great points.

  • @Aliothemage

How would that be the case if driving was more dangerous and flying covers more miles? Deaths / Miles; anything with a higher denominator is going to be lower.

  • @selfrealizedexile

You can measure the safety by how many people die on planes VS cars every year (which is absurdly biased), or by per-hour traveled, per mile traveled, per trip traveled, ect. Depending on which way you measure it, planes can be thought as being safer or more dangerous then driving. For example "For airplane travel there are approximately 2.4 deaths per million hours of exposure; for travel by car the figure is 0.6 deaths per million hours of exposure."

  • @Aliothemage, stop being a fearmongering shill. The only relevant comparison and measure is this: which form of transportation gets you to your intended destination more safely? It is flying, hands down, as Stossel shows. Even if your claims regarding deaths per hours of exposure is correct (and no source was cited), who cares? Since flying is faster by at least an order of magnitude, you spend less time flying to get where you want to go, and are hence safer.

  • @WelfareRobot

"which form of transportation gets you to your intended destination more safely?"

Umm, no. That actually doesn't work. This is because you have to take into account distance traveled. You can fly from France to Singapore and statistically be much safer then driving that whole way, but flying from Paris to Orleans is statistically more dangerous then driving because the take off and landing are the most dangerous parts of the flight. Thus short trips are safer by car.

  • @WelfareRobot

And please, don't call someone a "fear monger" or a "shill" just because they have an appropriate grasp of the relevant statistics.

  • Where can I See the full show on the net?

No one seems to be posting the full show anymore.

  • Love the Stoss!

  • I agree that we should not worry and protect our liberties but it should not be "because terrorism" is not likely. It should be because liberties are more important. Even if terrorism was highly probably it's not right to force people to be scanned or patted.

  • @StopFear Wholeheartedly agree

  • In terms of quantifiable and measurable damage, our own policies, which are as misguided as they are well intentioned, do much more harm to our civilization than any of its naked enemies, from Soviet Communists during the Cold War to Islamic terrorists nowadays.

  • Enough is Enough! That's a thinking we have to have now! That's a slogan of Victory!

    Turn off TV.

Benjamin Fulford, Bill Cooper, David Icke, G. E. Griffin, Bill Hicks, Rafael Correa, Paul Craig Roberts, Carol Rosin, Jeff Rense, Alex Jones, We Are Change, Luke Rudkowski.

Try to reach those people who don't know The Truth, like reality show watchers.

  • And THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is why I laugh my ass off when I hear some public official talk about how serious a threat terrorism is. Fuck that; My own government terrorizes me more than any kook with a bomb strapped to his chest hoping for 72 virgins.

  • @MagnusIan Tell that to an Israeli.

  • @MikeTMerciless if I did it would not make a difference because we are not in the same situation AT ALL as Israel. Look, I'm sorry that they decided to reestablish their sovereignty and it just so happened to be in the land of the midst of the people who hate them most, but that is their problem. WE have too many things to worry about now, terrorism is at the bottom of the things we have to worry about. The power of our government however should be top priority right now, oh and journalists

  • @zanariot Well, the difference between the problems that Stossel cites and terrorism come down to what can you personally do about them. You can stop smoking. You can avoid driving if you want. Most of those risks involve what you can do to avoid them. But Terrorism is out of your control, and that's why it's scary. What makes it scarier is that it seems that our government is not doing enough about it, having to resort to passive means to do what they don't want to do pro-actively.

  • @MikeTMerciless If you're walking, then you can still be in a car accident if someone hits you. Other than smoking, all the comparisons he makes aren't things you can avoid. You might as well argue that you can choose to avoid terrorism by avoiding anything significant enough to bother destroying.

  • @zanariot Also, it was Britain that gave sovereignty to Israel over a territory that was largely stateless to begin with.

  • @MikeTMerciless It was U.N. member states that voted to recognize Israel as a sovereign country, I think Britain abstained from voting.

  • @MagnusIan - So you live in Saudia Arabia? Yeah, your a fucking liar.

  • Excellent!

  • Im worried about my own government...screw terrorism.

  • @helltrackrider On the "graph" "Days off Your Life", terrorism should read .666 of a day, NOT 2 days...You are more likely to be killed by po lice then terror ists.

  • That was sooooo well put. Bravo Stossel!

  • One of Stossel's best

  • God-fan-damn-fucking-tastic!

  • Bad news sells.... and negativity affects our attitude in a horrible way. I love Mr. Stossel's shows on Fox!

  • This is truth. I wish everyone would watch Stossel. Maybe then our country could enjoy a better climate. People just don't understand. If they did? We would be a much stronger and proud country

  • I don't worry about dieing, I worry about living in tyranny.

  • I literally Love Stossel.

I can only hope that there are more who try to be like him in journalism.

He is such a rare figure.

  • Absolutely marvelous. This has been one of my favorite bug-a-boos for a long time how we worry about the wrong things, utterly distort the magnitude of what we pay attention to and how it has calamitous repercussions. It is extremely rare to hear anyone mention this, especially in the media. And yet here Stossel has done an admirable job of stating the case. Bravo to him.

  • Sad Onion? (aka the baby-warning-symbol). It looks like a sad onion.

  • powerful stuff

  • Amen Stossel. Amen.

  • HA!!!! My answer to what I fear most is Government! And who or what has the most power to put us on the path of overwhelming poverty in our country?! :)

  • @AlyssaLovesLife "The ten most dangerous Politicians" ? any topic LOL

  • @manoman0 And your thoughts on Governor Chris Christy and your thoughts on Donald Trump as President? :)

  • @AlyssaLovesLife ...let's say, the USA would face a very interesting future.... =D

  • @AlyssaLovesLife

    Ron Paul as President.

  • Statistics are like hookers.

Once You get them on the sheets you can do what ever you like to them.

    John Stossel proves this brilliantly

  • @americanbandwidth That is only true when you are using them to address people who do not understand statistics.

  • JS ... I like this one ... you expose a really important truth ... more prosperity and less regulation for everyone on earth!

  • Stossel is doing a great job.

  • truth as always
