I think he will be a solid NFL DE. His numbers don't give him enough credit, as he is the type of player that collapses a pocket and forces the QB to think fast. He may not get every tackle or sack, but he causes mayhem on every play ! He is a good stunter, and I think he will continue to improve as a pro. If he stays focused, humble, and dedicated, he will become a playmaker in the NFL.
@heismanboy34 Kiper said that? Yes!!! That means the opposite of what he said is true. Remember when he said Brady Quinn should've been taken no.2 by the Lions?
Derrick, congratulations on being selected by the Tennessee Titans in the 2010 NFL Draft. I know that you are excited and looking forward to August 14 when you all travel to Qwest Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks. I live in South Carolina and we get Titans games occasionally. I look forward to watching you. Best of luck and peace out.
You know, people keep mentioning that Morgan got manhandled by Iowa's offensive line...I didn't see that in this video. He may not have sacked the QB but he definitely hurried him up and flushed him out of the pocket on several occasions. That bull rush on Bulaga was classic...he was close to getting several sacks that game.
nahhh screw the haters.....derrick morgan is gonna be stellar for us also considering that we have one of the best dline coaches in the league in washburn
To all u HATERS The last time the titans took a DE AT PICK 16 his name was Javon Kerses and if u are a titan fan you know how many times we went to the playoffs and made it to a super bowl. Jeff Fisher knows good talent
@elsephen he's already slow? he was 7th in the 40, 4th in the shuttle, and 2nd in the 3 cone drill at the combine for DE...that doesnt sound slow to me and for a DE the shuttle and 3 cone drill are more important and if you watch his film he gets off the line of scrimmage crazy fast and blows past or through O linemen
@ecksploshun he's already at his peak though. That's the problem. He's not going to gain any speed (he's already slow). He'll be stellar in run support, but we need someone to pressure the QB so our terrible secondary looks like it did 2 seasons ago.
Morgan isn't going to add any pressure. He'll hold his blocker up and wait for the RB.
@elsephen It's easy to guess when a guy has peaked, but you should look after his career. The kid just turned 21 and will continue to have his body mature. Let alone Washburn, is known to be one of the best dline coaches in the league so he may be able to bring out alot more.
@countrylunatic Why is Washburn so praised? He had Haynesworth in a contract year. Outside of that, who has he "coached up"? Senderrick Marks? Nope. Jacob Ford? Nope. Jason Jones? Not really. Last year the D-Line was about as average as could be. Wash is like anyone else- he needs a lot of talent to earn his hype for him.
@elsephen Washburn is a solid coach.....hworth, vanden bosch, laboy, odom and pretty soon we will see the production from jason jones, ford, hayes and etc
@elsephen Vanden Bosch dummy, check his stats before he showed up... Antwawn Odom got another contract because of him, Travis Laboy, both those guys got big pay days after leaving Wash and the characters and have amounted to nothing on other squads. Tony Brown was on the Amsterdam Admirals before coming to Tennessee. Do you even watch the Titans?
@big2033 KVB was injured his entire career before coming to TN. It's not like he was some bum in college that had no potential. He finally got healthy, and did what he was expected to.
Antwan Odom, Laboy, etc weren't anything special in TN, either. If Wash was such a great DL coach- wouldn't those guys be good once they left?
Or is it just the scheme? Maybe Albert Haynesworth? Hmmm...
@elsephen Odom was a beast this last season with the Bengals until he got hurt.....he was leading the nfl with sacks bro. Get your facts straight and Laboy was one hell of a pass rusher for the cardinals i believe. He was hella beastly too. We all know what Washburn did with Haynesworth and now hes doing it with our other DT Tony Brown. He had like 5,6 sacks this last season as our DT. Next season you will see our D-line coach at his best with a lot of young players having to step up
Is anybody count how many times he has been tackled or held by the O Lineman. That why he wasn't able to tackle the running backs. He is good against the run.
Titans will get joe haden if he isnt taken we will take him, but if he is we will take either Jason Pierre-Paul then Derrick morgan, Haden would be too good to give up, but i wish we could get eric berry he is sooooo good
hes a Tremendous pass rusher...looks like he can make some big plays against the run but the run is definitely his weakness...i look for the titans or the giants to pick him up
@Tecomoconhielo Brandon Graham is way more ready than Derrick Morgan. Graham is a top 5 player in this draft. Mark my words you look back a couple years from now and you will know that Graham was the best linebacker prospect in this ENTIRE draft.
@flippnbricks2o8 I totally agree. Graham will be the best out of the pack. I find it really stupid that teams like Miami are going to overlook him and get a bum like Kindle or Morgan because getting Graham at 12 would be "a reach".
no we still will i believe. babin is kinda like replacing vanden bosch and still when we had KVB we were still going of a DE in the draft. I would be surprised if we didnt go for DE and only other possibility im thinking of is corner opposite of Finnegan, which in case i would love to see Kyle Wilson fall there. Then if i want to expect the unexpected we will see Weatherspoon go to us at 16
@carlosZ1981... i agree. morgan can rush the passer, but doesn't look as good in the run game. Brandon Graham is a beast either way. However I'm a Michigan man so I may be a little biased.
If he bulks up in the NFL and maintain his speed he might be the second coming of Freeney. He's the type of player a team like the jags could use to help their pass rush.
@risingglory You do understand that Graham has been graded as the best pro-ready DE because of his awareness against the run, right. Derrick Morgan is mediocre to bad against the run, Graham lacks size but could very well be a 3-4 OLB like James Harrison or a Tampa-2 DE like Simeon Rice or Dwight Freeney.
I love these kinda of videos. They show you the impact of the player in the game, not just highlights. It's good to see the overall pitcure. I say Morgan is a top 10 pick agter watching this.

@avilesnba Odom was ALWAYS great... until hurt. That's the knock. The guy gets injured putting his shoes on so he'll never be worth anything.
And what Wash did with Haynesworth? What? Made a GREAT college DT underachieve until it was contract time? Yeah- Kudos for that!
Our D-line is going to be terrible this year. And Washburn did jack shit last year with what we had.

Great Job Titans!
Most Complete DE in the draft. Doesn't have the huge bust potential of JPP or the size disadvantage of Graham. Can play the rush or the pass.
Shart38 1 year ago
@Shart38 there is no "size disadvantage" of Graham. That's silly Kiper-talk, and he has no effing clue 90% of the time.
He's the exact size of Dwight Freeney, but better vs the run.
