I think your yarn braids are very cute on you. I did some a week ago, and I used Brown and Black yarn..I wish I could show you...they turned out cute!
I wash them like you do regular braids...well I section my hair in four section then I do the baking soda rinse/acv rinse. I also do a baking soda scrub with a tooth brush then rinse with the baking soda rinse then do a lite conditioner rinse that then acv rinse.
I did mine the same way Blackonyx77 showed us how she did hers. I did do the chair method wrapped the yarn around the two front legs of the chair. I used three strings for the back and two strings for the sides and part of the front.

You look so cute. Purple is a good color on you. Locs are a big committment so this style is a good idea so you can switch it up. I understand about cutting your hair when you go thru things. i first got these braids in '07 and i loved it, the only bad things is the yarn soaks up alot of moisture
