My 2 yr old is in love with trains she loves this veideo and related ones, there is also a railroad crossing by my home, its across the street from us and everytime she hears the train she runs to the window screaming The choo choo train. We both wave a the train saying bye train bye train.
@southern4501isawesom The Valley Railroad has an SY they are rebuilding to a New Haven 2-8-2. The Boone Valley Scenic in Iowa has the JS 2-8-2, the in-between SY and QJ model.
@CSX6000 hahha well yes but is it an actualy similar to an american prototype or did they just paint her with some random roadname? im not familar with eastern railroads
@HUTCHtopher - It does get used during the weekends the train operates and the Maintence of Way crew usually takes care of the track - Again, this video dates back to 2007, so the line has been cleaned up somewhat, I believe :)
In the late 1940s, the Chinese government bought one of several types is American locomotives then reverse engineered them just as they still do with American products. Saves on engineering costs.
this is a Chinese SY type steam locomotive...built by Datong Locomotive works in China...these locomotives...are based on American ALCO and Baldwin steam locomotive designs...several Chinese built QJ type locomotives have been imported to the United States...Chinese steam locomotives are generally smaller and less powerful than comparable American steam locomotives
,,I'm sure all the old Chinese laborers from the American west copied the blueprints from the locomotives at the rail construction sites and sent them back home to China where they were copied for years,,,lol
@thersaholycow One of the 2 other sisters to this locomotive is now located on the Valley Railroad in Essex, CT(now numbered 3025)..as for the other sister. Well it is sitting at the bottom of the ocean somewhere last i heard.
@thersaholycow At the time ,China was still building new steam engines from scratch. Only recently within the last 10 years did they retire them from regular work. Coal is still a big mining business there. There are also two 2-10-2 engines that were brought here to the USA from there. You'll see footage of them here on youtube if you havent already.
@smoothie6ft3 I have photographs of one of these SY class 2-8-2s builders date 1999 when I was in China in 2009 still running and several others in service on mine runs yes China rail no longer runs them but they survived as late as 2009 in regular service in the coal mines at least when I was there they told us that was it though there was plans to dieselize the rest and or electrify most the lines
I was gonna ask, was there any tracks in the grass or just riding on the dirt? LOL

i love the chinees whistle
trainman551 1 year ago
You BLAST the WHISTLE LONG AND LOUD for non-signaled grade crossings! Full grade crossing whistle sequence. What was this meek nonsenese?
Slowing down accomplishes nothing.
Love the grass-covered track.
Glad you replaced the POS Chinese whistle.
Nice video! Well done!
Rich died a happy man bringing a locomotive here.

@robertgift There's nothing wrong with dat Chinese whistle.
nyc3001 11 months ago
@nyc3001 Chinese whistles are absolutely horrible.
Have heard them in China and here.
Chinese whistle makers could not care less how they sounded. No pride. No effort to make them sound better.
THEY DON'T CARE.

can it be a safe bet that's the only train that still runs on that line? lol. great vid.

how long is the branch line?
MiLLwallpaul231258 2 years ago
the line was very long but now it has only 5.5 miles of track that is able to handle trains
devins1234 2 years ago
@devins1234, but they are going to extend the line to Riegelsville, and that's about 10 miles of track.
boberttrain831 2 years ago
It's fitting that 142 is wearing a Pennsy 3 chime whistle on this trip along former Pennsy trackage. Great video. Five stars!
