The current marriage laws only existed for about 350 years. Marriage initially was a contract between two fathers. People need to be respectful of one another. We all have straight and gay family and friends. I agree with those who hold that American's have the right to express their opinions. This should be done with respect for all sides of an issue; however, if we no longer can respectfully express our personal opinions, we have lost our basic freedom. And if our opinion differs from another person's, we should not curse or degrade them. Life is too short.

Carrie claimed that "she was brought up that way", which means her faith and her convictions were instilled by her parents. Since her family tree is full of gays and lesbians (including the loving parents who taught Carrie to have anti-gay views), her "convictions" seem rather shallow.
Carrie has the right to her opinions, however biased and backwards they may be, but she has no right to the Miss America Crown. She is milking her 15 minutes and has very little of a "life" to look forward to.

I participated in a tea party because I paid $8000 more in taxes in 2008 than in 2007. I have threatened no one. I have used profane language towards no one. I do not need to use sarcasm or feel the need to defend my actions as this is still America.
