  • I LOVE YOU WINTER!!!!!! KEEP LIVING SWEET DOLPHIN!!!!!!!

  • I love winter

  • Winter is the cutest dolphin ever!

  • I'm hoping to go there in the summer :)

  • she is one lucky girl love her I am planning a trip with my husband and son to come see her soon

  • winter is so beautiful!!! i love her!! i just watched the movie. im scheduling a trip to see her

  • Oops. Sorry, my previous 2 posts were supposed to go to a different video about Winter. An excerpt from "The Bonnie Hunt Show". LOL not sure how I landed here, but oh well.

  • Unfortunately , I suppose it is just in some peoples nature to be negative. To try so hard to find everything that is "wrong" with something is just ridiculous. This is because misery loves company. People who are miserable just love to "TRY" and bring the rest of us down to their level. For the miserable people out there, try not to spend so much energy looking for all the negatives when the positives are staring you right in the face. Look beyond to something bigger than yourselves.

  • You may just find that life is not so miserable after all. LOL . Ok, all that being said, this is truly one of the most amazing animal stories ever. I think we could all learn a great deal from Winter.

  • How cute

  • This was a great movie, very interesting story. Glad to see Winter is doing well. Your website better be prepared for the millions of hits its going to get with the movie release.

    Good luck to your centre.

  • Just saw this movie on phone. Its was a heartfelt feeling. Good thing it has a happy ending.

  • oh my gosh i saw the movie and it is so sad

  • why is her back kind of hunched up?

  • @KingsProduction50

I belive that dolphins hunch thier back up to help them swim better. She will hunch it up when she pushes her tail down. It is very interesting but, thats how dolphins swim.

  • @KingsProduction50 I believe it may be an illusion of a "hump" .Winters trainer Abby Stone commented on "The Bonnie Hunt Show" that the prosthesis is quite heavy.

So it may be weighing down her tail section behind her dorsal fin. Or quite possibly (and probably more likely) The deformation is a result of her injuries or from the 2 vertebrae the were amputated along with her tail. Or perhaps a combination of all.

  • @jimeeb1967 The hump is caused by her irregular muscle use, dolphins swim in an up and down motion, Winter swims side to side. This has caused her muscles to form differently which is why we use the prosthetic tail as therapy to get her to make the up and down motions.

  • I wish the two trolls would go somewhere else. They're certainly not wanted here.

Such talk, especially when most likely kids are looking a this clip and reading the posts.

  • such a good movie friendship btween boy and dalphin

  • I LVOE THE MOVIE DOLPHIN OR WINTERS TALE ITS AMAZING !!!! SEE IT

  • she is so cute and i am so glad she is ok!!!

  • Oh poor winter

  • she's so adorable just wondering if the prosthetic tail stays clean? or do you have to make new ones for her regularly?

  • Will you release WInter to the wild?

  • She looks sweet! You know she inspired me to face my fears when I was 9!She inspired me to do what I thought I couldn't!You know why?.............Because I lost my legs when I was 3.But I will never, ever,EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!Forget about you Winter!I love you!

  • I saw Dolphin Tale 2 days ago and the film has inspired me so much that when i'm older i have decided that i want to become a marine biologist and work with marine life or dophins such as winter <3 dolphins are the best aniamls ever <3

  • @FluffyBearTeddy Same here! I'm going to be a Marine Biologist when I grow up!

  • so is winters spine okay, i mean is their now less stress on her tail?

also how is she doing now?

  • A final point must be made, that in September of this year, several marine park companies came to Taiji, Japan to purchase dolphins for their shows. Several were taken from their families. The remaining dolphins are slaughtered for their meat, which is not safe to eat. Last month thousands of dolphins died so that tourists could see a few in captivity, living in a small chlorine/salt water tank. Is this what we want? Is this loving dolphins? • @yarpyarp85 k seriously why would you saying that be funny? you obviously cut off your brain

  • @SoJustCool Yes, you are correct sir.... I obviously did just that.........? winter= lame you= stupid and me= awesome ; )

  • @yarpyarp85 you just made yourself sound stupider.

  • @SoJustCool nice come back looser,, i call you stupid, you call me stupider.... sounds like your the stupidest. Second only to the "great" "Winter"

  • @yarpyarp85 you want a come back? you watch a video about a dolphin with courage, and you say "fuck winter"...what kind of a sick twisted loser are you? why don't you go out into the real world and try and say shit like that, and have the shit kicked out of you. you probably have never been laid, and whack it all day. how is you saying what you said justified? it's not. you obviously have nothing better to do. and how am i stupid for disliking what you said? everyone here seems to agree w me. FU

  • @yarpyarp85 creative you little shit. looks like you're educated.

  • @SoJustCool I'm glade this ended well.... for winters sake..... well, I'm off to write idiotic and inappropriate comments somewhere else. Wish me luck.

  • how long did it take her to stop doing that snake motion to swim?

  • Winter made me cry and made me realize a lot of things. I wanna see her :( am just too far. Ill pray for her fast recovery and for her to be used to her new tail.

  • And what about the other dolphins and marine life at the CMA? Are they not releasable? If you buy a ticket to see them you are in favour of taking dolphins from their home in the wild and putting them in small prisons. They will not live long and have gone through the trauma of being taken from their natural families. These creatures need their social connection to family and the habitat of the ocean to survive and live a natural life. Our love for dolphins is actually harming them.

  • @sonar2voice How is it a prison? They are fed, given, medical care and treats all the time. What about dogs, cats, and other pets? Should they be release into the wild? In fact, dolphins are more likely to live longer and healthier lives then in the wild. I know because I have read marine books and was once thought of becoming a marine biologist.

  • @Beforethedawnbreaks This comment is simply not true. Everyone from J. Cousteau to Jane Goodall to Ric O'Barry have shown that no artificial pool can replicate the natural habitat of dolphins. If you are reading marine books that favour captivity over the wild, then that is kin to saying God got it wrong and we are getting it right! It is arrogant and blind. I am sure you love marine life, but if you do why not leave them alone. Dogs are bred for a domestic life...dolphins are not domesticated.

  • @sonar2voice I am debating facts, not feelings. All you did was give me names of scientists. Until you give me actual proof, this conversion is over. Its is obvious you haven't done your research. And those books I read, they do advocate it better to leave animals in the wild where they belong. They just stated that dolphins live longer when living in captivity.

  • @Beforethedawnbreaks It is only when these businesses do not treat dolphins correctly that they become ill. Besides, its costs a lot of money to release captive animals into the wild then maintaining them. It's simply better to prevent people from capturing them in the first place.

  • @Beforethedawnbreaks This is a moral issue, facts AND feelings are required in order to make the right decision. You say facts, but all you are saying is that you have read "books" which says nothing at all. I at least gave names. I can direct you to sites if you like. Your argument is made weaker because you suggested that dolphins live "healthier lives" in captivity. But this is false, they incur great stress and die young in captivity. Captivity kills dolphins. See savejapandolphinsdotorg

  • In this video, it appears as if Winter is alternating between a side-to-side swimming motion and a more natural up and down motion. Is this what her trainers have observed? Is she beginning to relearn a dolphin's natural locomotion?

  • I loved the movie "Dolphin Tale" starring "Winter." ( I'd love to have Harry Connick Jr. as my vet any day.) Winter is an ambasador, teaching humans to love dolphins and protect them.

  • Does Winter have other dolphins to keep her company?

  • This is not fair to the dolphin. The aquarium is making money off of an injured dolphin and nobody sees that because they love dolphins as much as we all do. What should have happened I think (all do respect) is rehabilitate Winter in a sea pen and then try to release Winter to the wild into a pod where they can look out for each other. To me that is showing more respect to Winter then profiting from his injury. Credit for rescuing him, but dolphin captivity is very debatable here.

  • @sonar2voice So you'd like her to die out in the wild? A dolphin without flukes will die out in the wild. She can't be released, no Dolphin or Orca in captivity can be released. Get over it.

  • @IAmADalek I realize that once a dolphin is taken from the wild and held captive against its will it must be released back to the wild only after it has been properly reintroduced.

Why not have Winter occupy a sea pen with other dolphins in similar situations.

At least its in its natural habitat and has more room. I celebrate rescue efforts, but the goal must always be (as the law says) to reintroduce them back to the wild. Profit from dolphins is wrong - many are becoming aware of this.

  • @sonar2voice Winter was declared "Unreleasable" in 2006... she will live out her days in captivity... CMA is a Not for profit organization... it is run on sponsorships and donations... It also serves as a rehabilitation hospital for marine life as well as an educational facility... The best thing for Winter and the other non-releasable animals/fish is for them to remain where they are... BTW... Winter is a HER... not a him!!!

  • @PrincessJEC Decleared unreleasable by who? The owner of CMA? He sells tickets for 14.95 for adults and lesser prices for children...it is for profit, don't lie. Capturing dolphins from the wild, which they do in abundance, is not showing our love of nature! It is educating children that nature must be used for profit. Should we not be teaching kids to restrain their desires to see dolphins and instead teach them to protect them? Why is nobody responding to my argument that a sea pen is better?

  • @sonar2voice 1. Lesser isn't a word. 2. They don't get random dolphins and just come and cage them up! They take care of SICK, and HURT animals, but when they do bring animals in they make it feel like home. 3.Why is nobody responding? NO ONE THINKS ITS A GOOD IDEA!

  • @sonar2voice That is impossible. She would be able to survive due to her missing tail. Dolphins depend on their tales for defense. The prosthetic isn't permanently attached to her. That is just plain cruel to release when she has no way to defend herself.

  • Beforethedawnbreaks My argument was that the goal should always be to release injured dolphins back to the wild AFTER they have been helped. In Winter's case, she must remain captive I agree, but why not place her in a sea pen? Why...answer is simple, the CMA would not be able to advertise her to people to make profit. They are a profit making business. They would not go with a sea pen cause nobody could see her...therefore no profits. Sea pens are better than pools. Winter is being used!

  • omg she is so amazing thank god she lived i had the pleasure to meet her i wish i had the nurve to touch n hug her

  • Wow she sure seems to be enjoying herself and having fun...I love that there is a place where people can help wildlife...

    Jim :)

  • it looks as if she can swim properly, but does she have to make a bit of effort just to get it to move??? Since it is not directly connected to her spine??

  • So how old is Winter In 2011 . Oh and is that boys real name Sawyer how old is he now .

  • Anyone else reminded or Dory here? Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..

  • this is an amazing story! i am awed by the human beings that spent countless hours trying to save and rehabilitate this dolphin. the love that went into this dolphin and project are just incredible! there is a place in heaven for people like those who helped save winter!!!!! (perhaps beautyis30 and fluffy duck213 should smoke another joint and go to the dumb and dumber u tube video collection.)

  • is there anyway to keep it on permanently?

  • @GrippinLipps She could keep it on permanently, but she's still learning how to use it. We have daily excercises and rehab sessions with her. Great question!

  • @ClearwaterAquarium still learning how to use it since 2008 dolphins are smarter than that

  • @ClearwaterAquarium Do you think she likes it?

  • @ClearwaterAquarium will she ever be released back into the ocean?

  • so loveu love it

  • @galaxypa They only keep it on for 30 minutesca day because they don't want it to irritate her skin.

  • Do you know why they dont keep it on at all time besides fixing it and what ever else they have to do with it?

  • Absolutely love this!

  • Cool!
