  • love this.....

  • i think of so many people when i hear this..

  • thumbs up for the smiley clouds

  • Katy uses the word Gay like a metaphor. She nearly means the guy she dated was more feminine than she was.

  • The video is quite kookie which I like, but seriously -homphobic much?

  • What Katy Perry actually sang in the studio - 'Ur So Gay and you really like c*cks...' But it was cut for obvious reasons. Bad Perry! lol

  • PEEEEEEEEEEEENIS

  • And you don't even liiiiiiiiiiikeeeeeeeee...penis!

  • Awkward moment when she goes straight from Christian Gospel music to "Ur so gay".

  • How the fuck did she go from this to California Gurls?

  • @Uxoriouswidow

    Short answer, she sold out.

  • Lol! Soo funny! I love the reaction like lubylu312. I also like 3:22 to 3:40 :) :D

  • LOL, i love the doll's reaction at 3:28

  • I never knew dolls could get bladdered

  • likeeeeeeeeee PENIS!!!!

i love that bit, thumbs up if u agree

    :P

  • i love the dolls, especially the katy doll

  • вот это трескач!!!! хахаха!!!!

  • penis!

i have never laughed so hard in my life xD

  • Wow people these days are a bit too sensitive. I'm homosexual and I don't feel offended or anything. In fact I really like this song.

  • this was so awesome on the california dreams tour :')

  • Lol it's not anything to do with gay people. It's actually quite clever in the way that it exploits the fact we call metrosexual/feminine men gay, despite the fact they don't even like boys..

The song's about the fact she fell in love with a guy who's so feminine he wears more make up etc.. but isn't gay.

  • @blakesquakers It's really more the frustration of being with someone male that's so annoyingly feminine. I've been with a guy like this, and it was so annoying, but of course, society these days likes to frown on actual manliness so...

  • @RainAndKisses I won't say much because I'm not exactly the manliest person. But you're right, it can go too far and I guess it'd be annoying. I wouldn't say society frowns on manliness.. but it's opening itself up to allow men to be more feminine which I'm kind of glad of.. to an extent.

  • My ex is who this song is about.

  • I actually don't even think this song is about someone gay so people need to stop getting offended! I think it's about a metrosexual (A guy who acts feminine and so on but is actually hetrosexual) but who knows

  • so much love for this song!

  • No You Don't Even Liiiiikee..... PENIS.! :'D

  • I'm Gay, Im Not Offended, People Who Are Offended To Be Honest Just Want Attention :D

  • i know a guy like that, apparently he's called justin bieber

  • you pull them down and there's really nothing there xD

  • she´s sooooo fucking sexy

  • how stunning is she!?

  • WHY THE FUCK DO WE HAVE TO LINK YOUTUBE WITH GOOGLE ACCOUNTS!

stopping me from watching vids if i dont link, fucking stupid, for security reasons, never had any problems before!

    well atleast im here now

  • DAVE GROHL GUITAR

  • This used to be one of the most hardcore songs I knew :') along with 'fuck you' by lily allen :')

  • The song is all about a guy who should be gay thus 'ur so gay and you don't even like boys'. But I understand the confusion; I was a bit perturbed when I heard the lyrics.

  • i kind of thought she was describing her idea of a stereotypical gay guy (sounds more like a hipster to me but whatevz) and is pissed because he's supposed to be in love with her, not mozart and hemingway and makeup. he's straight but he's more interested in everything she mentioned than her boobs. she's not using the term gay to be offensive. someones got their wand in a knot!

  • Anyone who's still offended by us using gay as a negative word can just jew off, and stop being so bloody black about it.

  • @SkrebMasters Amstell...

  • @SkrebMasters

    Simon Amstell, is that you?

  • @SkrebMasters I can see your frustration but you need to learn to respect other people. You probably won't know how it feels because you don't belong to a minority, but you may experience this in your life.

  • @SkrebMasters Way to steal Simon Amstells words

  • @SkrebMasters ^^ Buzzcocks.

  • @SkrebMasters how many people do you want to offend in one immature pathetic redneck racist homophobic comment? So I guess U R just a CUNT

  • 64O people are so gay that they don't even like boys..

  • 64O people are soy gay that they don't even like boys..

  • more than 70% of us use 'gay' as an insult, stop getting petty about silly lyrics.

  • Penis

  • STOP THE STUPID ARGUMENTS IM GAY AND I FUCKIN LOVE THIS THUMB UP FOR NOTICE!

  • Penis;)

  • I think she's saying he's gay because he's so in love with himself.

  • its horribly hypocrritical of her and society to think supposedly acting 'gay' is wrong and disgusting, but being a girl who likes ot kiss girls is 'hot' and 'sexy'. its incredibly insulting to both gay men, and women in general, because shes putting social and sexual pressures on both genders.

  • @chchciccone being kinda general there, about it being incredibly insulting to gay men and women. After all, I, myself, am gay, and I don't feel insulted listening to this song, at all. :P

No one said that acting gay was wrong or disgusting, it certainly doesn't come up in the song. Basically, he's meant to be her boyfriend, but he's not acting like it. :P

  • @bitterending14 it is not general to say that songs such as 'i kissed a girl' and 'ur so gay' are damaging. if you choose to ignore what society is doing by constantly making fun of gay culture and people, then thats up to you, but me, even as a straight woman, dont think its right at all. she showing a huge double standard here, which is that when a guy acts 'gay' hes gross and disgusting, but when a girl does, its oh so hot, 'cause guys can jerk off over it and it makes you more desirable...

  • @chchciccone At no point does she make out that he is actually gross and/or disgusting for acting that way! and "I Kissed A Girl" is more of a reference to the sexual precociousness of girls, not because its hot, or makes you more desirable, whilst drawing off Perry's own personal experience!

I don't want to get drawn into arguing over this, because I have better things to be doing with my time, but the whole dispute is down to interpretation, and how you interpret the song, yourself.

  • @bitterending14 when someone says 'you're so gay' to make fun of someone, thats negative, and it never will be a positive because of the connotations behind it - shes using a guy acting gay as the butt of her joke, and thats not fine. if she didnt like the way the guy dressed, or acted, why was she dating him in the first place? she is singing this song for girls who are pissed off with their ex and have now decided to make fun of them out of spite and bitterness.

  • @bitterending14 this also isnt an argument, but i am genuinely surprised that you find a song that will reach millions of people and children, about how annoying it is that a guy 'acts gay', is totally fine. will you be okay with children going up to a little boy in their class who is a little more effeminate than others and saying 'ew youre so gay' and making fun of them? i doubt you would. why then, is it acceptable for a woman in music to do this? harvey milk would be disgusted, and so am i.

  • @chchciccone I've dealt with children, and seeing as I still go to school, I still do deal with people making those kinds of comments everyday. And its been happening long before this song was released, so thats not much of an example. And Perry isn't making any fun, the song is a long comment on how her boyfriend acts very effeminate. Is it acceptable to make fun of homosexuality? No, but Perry does not actually comment that crime. She simply comments on her frustration over the matter.

  • @bitterending14 but shes perpetuating that cycle, that you yourself have experienced! i cant even imagine how you would be okay with this if you've experienced such horrible torment or even something milder - its never ever okay. how can you not see that people are influenced heavily by pop culture and music videos, so if its seen as okay by people such as yourself, then everyone will think its okay, and then go on to hurt others because of how they act. its just so obvious to me.

  • @chchciccone well as a gay guy myself i think its funny.

  • Katy Perry before she realized her boobs could take over the world.

  • Katy Perry Is Such A Stunna Muffin!!

  • lol penis

  • She calls this guy gay, but at the end of the day, shes the one who likes to kiss girls?

  • love the end!

    PENIS!! lol

  • Reminds me so much of an absolute tool I went out with.

    So glad thats over.

  • at the end lol!! "dnt even liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike........... PENIS!"

  • @sim12366 okay, and I wasn't acting cool:L! and I do have a life, otherwise I'd be dead! And I just have my own point of views just like you do, when you said 'how offensive.' and I don't act like I own youtube, I just reply to comments that i don't agree with.

    kthanksbye:).

  • @sim12366 That was just a fail of a come back.

  • @sim12366 because i was being sarcastic.

  • pretty sure she doesn't play guitar, and I didn't hear a guitar in the song either, fail....

  • @sim12366 No problem?

  • @sim12366 she's not on about gay people, she's on about how her boyfriend started wearing her make-up and started being really up his own arse!

  • @MissMad4Strawberrys people come up with all sorts of arguments to why this song is not homophobic, but I can't say I agree. She starts off with saying she hopes he hangs himself because he cares about his looks and he is in to poetry and arty stuff. Firstly it suggests that men should not be in touch with their feelings any more than women and secondly it suggests that gay people, or men who don't act according to the traditional gender rolls are wrong.

  • I enjoy reading about how this song is oh so homophobic. Being gay and loving this song makes the whole ordeal humorous. <3

    ... PENIS.

  • @arkaeoperix just like women can like sexist music and people can like music that is racist against them, gay ppl can of course like this song. Doesn't make it less homophobic

  • @carmencapel69 I disagree. This song is not trying to be homophobic, it's not attacking gay people, it's attacking people who act like the stereotypical gay person. I have a straight friend who is one of those people. He's far more insulting to who I am than this song is.

  • @arkaeoperix "it's attacking people who act like the stereotypical gay person" and that isnt homophobic?

Plus, gay men are not the only men who care about their looks, enjoy poetry or emotional conversations, Hemingway etc, so stop thinking you own the rights to that sort of behaviour thank you.

  • @carmencapel69 Um, I never said I "own" those rights. The point I was trying to make is that Perry is talking about a stereotypical gay personality on a straight male, and was attacking the straight male, not the gay people, so no, it's not homophobic in that sense. The straight males who do act like that annoy me personally, as they give gay people a bad name. This song is more heterophobic than anything, in that sense. Oh, and you're welcome. (: (Though I'm not sure why you're thanking me).

  • @arkaeoperix Why is she attacking him? Because he acts "gay" and gay behaviour is a lower form of human behaviour compared to "straight". This is why gay kids get killed and commit suicide. To quote Ellen Degeneres

"...being gay is a punchline of a monologue or how often gay jokes are in a movie. And that kind of message, laughing at someone cause they're gay, is just the beginning. It starts with laughing at someone, then it's verbal abuse, then it's physical abuse, and then it's killing."

  • @arkaeoperix plus Ben, I have to say, if you gay men don't own the rights to act a certain way, why do you feel offended when ur mate acts that way? He gives gay ppl a bad name? How is that when hes not even gay? He is probably just a guy trying to be himself. All men arent macho and loves football and fighting etc etc. I'm a girl and I used to go dressed in baggy jeans and big hoodies, doesn't mean I was trying to act or look like a lesbian, I was just being me.

  • @carmencapel69 Sofia, She's attacking him because she feels hurt that he's acting and being a different sexuality to what he said he was to her. I experienced the equal and opposite effect when my boyfriend broke up with me in an attempt to be straight. If I were to write a song "You're so straight and you don't even like girls" no one would complain. It's a blatant hypocrisy which I'm sad to say comes from a group of people I am associated with due to my sexuality.

  • @arkaeoperix So cause a guy likes Hemingway and H&M scarfs he needs to "be a different sexuality"? Do you realise how narrow minded that is? Let the guy enjoy these things without assuming stuff about his sexual orientation! I'm not a lesbian because I like South Park or... oh I dunno, Peep Show. I'm sorry you're bf broke up with you and tried to be straight, but do you think it might have got something to do with society's view of homosexuality where being gay is the worst possible punchline

  • @carmencapel69 And, Sofia, it's bad that he's doing it, because he's rather promiscuous too, thus adding the idea that all gay men are whores, seeing as the metrosexual stereotype he carries is also associated with gay men. What's more, he's only doing it to be "different", I know this, he told me, he's acting that stereotype, he admitted it wasn't his natural personality.

  • @arkaeoperix I have a friend like that, everybody thinks hes gay and he is totally promiscuous. So what? He likes wearing tight trousers and eccentric tops and he likes having sex with a lot of different women. Who cares? Sex is not a bad thing, neither is looking or being different. Don't see how it will make YOU look bad.

  • @carmencapel69 It makes me and other gay people look bad as it reinforces homophobe's stereotypes that gay men are all whores. He acts out the gay stereotype with other worse things, thus making people think gay people are bad. Stop putting words in my mouth, Sofia, it's annoying. I never, ever, said the guy "needs" to be gay, but he acts the stereotype of it, concerning Perry who obviously wants a straight boyfriend, thus she point out he's very "gay" but he doesn't like boys.

  • @carmencapel69 In fact she says "and you don't EVEN like boys". This implies she wants him to like guys, thus, her being homophobic would be ridiculous. No homophobe wants someone to be gay, it doesn't even make sense if they did.

  • @arkaeoperix No Ben, it means that he should act more masculine, because being a sensitive man who cares about his looks (in her mind) equals gay.

I'm from Sweden and I couldn't give monkey's what other Scandinavian girls do or who they sleep with (cause some people think that Swedish girls are slags and they might think all Scandinavian/blonde girl are Swedish and that might make them think I'M a whore) WOAH big deal!! Let your friend act and dress the way he wants!

  • @carmencapel69 Not just in her mind, in the mind of a lot of society. Perry takes this stereotype, which is wrong, and parodies it. She mocks the stereotype as not restricted to gay people, and points out being concieted and vain and acting like you're deep is a bad trait regardless of who you are. In my mind, any man or woman OBSESSED with how they look equals annoying (and this song is about someone who is obessed with it, we're not talking washing his regularly).

  • @arkaeoperix hah yeah and Perry wakes up and looks the way she does, does she? She basically takes the stereotype of a hipster (vain and pretentious), and calls it "gay" to emphasise that it's a bad thing. She sings "I cant believe I fell in love with someone who wears more make up than me" like women are the only ones allowed to wear make up. This song is basically just a big f u to the people outside the traditional gender norm. Sarah Palin would love her

  • @carmencapel69 So she doesn't want to go out with a man in drag? That makes her a homophobe. I don't want to go out with a man in drag either. She's not saying wearing make up with men is wrong, she's just saying she wouldn't fall in love with someone who did. She doesn't emphasise it's a bad thing using gay, she's emphasising the stereotype is a bad thing. Because being vain and pretention is a bad thing.

  • @arkaeoperix Wearing a bit of make up does not make you a drag. Stop labelling people like that. And being vain and pretentious is not the stereotype of a gay person, its the stereotype of a hipster. She is using "gay" as a bad word, just like kids do when they think somethings bad. That is, imo, homophobic.

  • @carmencapel69 It's called exaggeration to make a point. To try and label me as a homophobe is as bad as me labeling men who wear make up as people in drag. What's more it's completely illogical, seeing as I am gay. Perhaps where you are people who are vain and pretentious are seen as hipsters, but from where I am it's a general stereotype of gay people, regardless of how wrong it is. If we as part of the LGBT community keep attacking straight people, then we are asking to be hated.

  • @arkaeoperix I have never called you a homophobe. I said this song is homophobic. And what do you mean by LGBT community attacking straight people? When and where has the LGBT community done that?

Being gay is a strange idea to straight people eh? Why do you think that is? Could it possibly have a connection to that its accepted to use "gay" as a synonym for "bad"?? Thats why, to kids and stupid people, being gay is a "strange idea".

  • @carmencapel69 To continue my point, being gay is a strange idea to straight people and that's not their fault, just like it's not our fault we are gay. So they're bound to make little jokes about it, they're bound to ask questions. If everytime they make a harmless joke we say "Homophobe, we now hate you" the LGBT community will be hated by even myself. She's not being homophobic, she doesn't want to be, she doesn't intend to be, if this song was "Ur so gay, so you should die", then I'd agree.

  • @arkaeoperix "if this song was 'Ur so gay, so you should die', then I'd agree." Her first words are "I wish you would hang your self with your h&m scarf". So I take it you agree?

  • @carmencapel69 ... OOH GURL YOU'RE GOOD AT THIS. I'll stop, you're wayy to observant for my inane ramblings. Oh wells, Katy's not a homophobe, I'm not offended, all is well. :P

  • katy perry's not homophobic and neither should you lot be jesus crist i hate ignorant biggots katy perry loves and supports gays she was not making fun of them on this vid and after all she did kiss a girl

  • @BlondeCurlsBlueEyes

using the word gay as a insult is just sick anyway

it would be good if it wasnt ur so gay and stuff in it

  • @BlondeCurlsBlueEyes Why should that annoy her? Some guys just aren't very manly, there's nothing wrong with that. It's nothing to do with being gay either.

  • I hate how she calls a boy gay as an insult, and yet her next song as about kissing a girl, which is passed off as a good thing.

    hypocrite much?

  • LOL barbies good song though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
