it's true that kim jong il was born in russia. that is *an open secret* here in my country since the late 80s when books started to pointed it out. i heard the chinese and south korean people also know about it. kim il sung was born and grew up in the northern area close to both china and russia. he could speak chinese and russian as well as korean. he was a member of the partisan which was an anti japan guerrilla group. thats why he was elected leader of north korea by the soviet union.
