Shearer even said on TV that he was looking for houses in Manchester before he went to Newcastle, his boyhood club so obviously a part of his mind wanted a piece of United, who wouldn't. He's the Premiership all time top goal scorer but never won a trophy there. Whereas Andy Cole is 2nd all time top scorer but has to have a JCB carry his winners medals. Love this clip everyone seems to say how composed Shearer is, but I would say that expression is more of the look of, "glad this isn't a pub late in the night." I am not going to get into the debate of who would win if they did end up in a fight, but Shearer showed a good level of professionalism here.
Keane may (or may not) be tougher, but Shearer was by far a better player and this was a prime example of it. Keane lost his head and it cost his team.
