One problem with Islam is that is requires complete surrender to the Koran, like there is nothing else. That is in my opinion deprives people of theit own opinions and ability to make their own decisions. That's like a slavery.

If one look at the literal meaning of "Islam" s/he would see that it comes from the verb "aslama" that means surrender, submit, obey; sincerity & peace. This is Islam. And it doesn`t have nothing in common with what some ppl do for some political and economical reasons. What we see on the tv, what we read in the newspapers not always is the truth.
