hey,man ...i have a problem with the windows 7,a few days ago my laptop(dell) can't stay close if a close or hibernate, its appear a blue screen with many letters,
There's numerous guides out there. I honestly don't remember now it's been so long, but it was essentially copying the contents over, and making it bootable.
Its funny at how the little thinking spiral looks just like Ubuntu's... I have heard that mac is basically started out as a linux based system it self...
IIRC, and I may be wrong, I think that OS X is based off of some flavor of BSD. I think earlier versions (like 10.4 and prior) may have been Linux. I'm too lazy to check the accuracy though. :D
I suspect that part 2 is in reference to the second set of videos. Due to YouTube limitations, I had to split part one and part two videos, so there's something like two videos for part one and three videos for part two.
10.6 Snow Leopard TransMa'ced on USB. ->Syslinux: I hit escape and choose the "81" option .I get a "Press Enter to start up Darwin/x86 with no options, or you can: type -v and press enter to start up with diagnostic messages. Type a '?' and press Enter to learn about advanced startup options" Followed by a "boot:" prompt with blinking cursor... When I use wither the Enter, or -v arguments the syslinux loops back to the previous screen..."Enter two-digit hex...80 or 81....blah blah blah...
Hey anguish thanks for the guide. I haven't tried yet, but I do think it would be easier to boot from linux rescue cd on USB and run gparted. For most, the GUI is a welcome addition when partitioning and formatting.
It very likely would be. I had issues (for whatever reason, probably the drive itself) getting gparted to cooperate with me on a USB key I tried it on. Since I really only needed to do this the one time, I was content with the method I used.
how do i prepare the thumb drive i have got all the windows 7 install stuff i just dont know how to prepare***sorry its a dumb question but im new to the minis and usually just use discs**
The obvious question is that you are in the install for WIndows 7, correct? If so, you should be able to get in without issues.. HOWEVER, and it isn't something I had thought of, but you may need to hold the FN key down. By default, that would be hitting PRNT SCRN unless you changed it in the BIOS, which you can see that I actually did. HTH!
The installation is part two, the prep was part one. The 10 minute limit on the videos had me doing some chopping. So there were two overall parts, but videos were chopped down even further.

I cannot get the usb with windows 7 to boot. Did i miss something in the prep video? Do i have to make it bootable?
bocumbie1 2 years ago
I don't believe I did anything to the USB drive I use to make Windows 7 bootable. Just the copying/renaming of a particular file.
