I know this is VERY late, but.. living in Fukuoka and having studied Japanese for the past 3 1/2 years.. I'm able to relate to you really well, and I found this video really inspring. 今から本当に頑張るよ!:D
My dream is to be a recording artist in Japan. I know that no matter what people say, I will not be changing my mind. After watching this, I'm really wishing that learning a new language was easier!! heheh
You gave me such inspiration today c': Thank you for that wonderful speech. I do definitely want to go to Japan and do wonderful things. I'm going to work even harder on my Japanese studies!
@iAmTOPVictory same here :O I've been learning japanese for nearly a year now and I dreamt of going to Japan since my childhood, but now my parents have doubts to let me go (11th march 2011) T.T but I will go, no matter what they say, because this is my dream, although they don't understand ;)
Watching youur videos and thinking about my goals. I know that anything is possible and you have inspired me to come out of my comfort zone and achieve my goals in life :)
When I decided to learn Japanese I found it hard( as I generally do with languages) and gave up. :( But you have remotivated me to go try harder to learn it and one day go to Japan. Thank you so much!!!! :D
thank you. Just In the past month i have made the decision that I am going to Japan. Before I has planned to be a vet and for three years got nowhere with it but suddenly I have a new goal and its considerably more possible and I've made real progress and although I know your message wasn't directed at me particularly I can relate to it and I thank you for it no matter how cheesy that may seem. C= The encouragement is greatly appreciated in these shaky beginnings of my new dream...no future. =)
Hi. I was wondering how do you manage to live in Japan, because I heard you cannot stay there for more than three months. Is that right? If so, how do you do? I really wanna live there but that thing is giving me trouble xDDD Thanks you~~ !!
I've been studying Japanese for 6 years now, and I just wanted to say that your videos have inspired me to take the JLPT 1kyuu! I don't know what I want to do with my Japanese skills yet, but I'm taking the first steps now, so thank you c:

But I will keep trying because I want to go to Japan and study there :) Thanks again
Im going to learn japanese because i love that country is good for me to live there and never been there, I start traveling age 15 alone to United Kingdom, to italy, Espanha , Germany and also portugal.
Okay, no more letting my parents rule my life; I'm 18, living in Alberta, going to a French University in the fall. Now, if only I could actually get into a Japanese class...
You've inspired me to live how I wanna live, not how someone dictates me. Thank you!!!
(PS. I love his reaction to the Yule Log. Canadian classic!!!)
I've been dreamimg to go to Japan ever since I was a kid, and I'm finally planning on how I'm going to get there. My parents set up a bank account and started me off with $100. I'm in grade 9 now, and I've already signed up to learn Japanese, so I'l be learning it as soon as the school year starts. By the time I graduate, I know I'll be able to realize my dream! Thank you so much! どもありがと!
@iAmTOPVictory Me too :) It's been my dream as well. And once I reach Junior Year, I'm going to take Japanese classes. I have many tools to help my learn and Ciaela's videos are a huge inspiration for me! :)
Ciaela, I am going to Fukuoka, then Nagasaki next month, and I just wanted to tell you that you have me so much hope when I watched this video. Thank you very much (:
wow I've always wanted to move to Japan from Canada just like you. I can't stand living here anymore TT. I'm gonna join the exchange program for university and go to Japan and definitely live there after. My dream was always to move to someplace that makes me happy when I grow up and it's Japan in this case but I've always thought I could never do it but I am so gonna do it now. If i die of radiation, it's worth it T__T
I dont care if you read this comment or not. I just want to public to know that your video has pushed me and my family to fullfill my dream. As of 4-20-11 Im going to be participating in foreign exchange for 1 year. Thanks gurl. You really helped.
Hi from Toronto! I just subscribed and I'm loving your videos. Right now I'm laughing because I have the same red plaid pajamas with white piping. Zellers? :) Thanks for all the great Japanese info.
I never thought that some one can inspire me with just a few words. i am usually the reason i don't move froward. Your so right....!!! My dream is to go and live in japan..... ありがと!
Oh. you are such a motivation for me. your advices encourages me a lot throughout the school and everything beyond that. I need to say this now, and eventhough I know that you're probably won't read it, otherwise I would forget to do it.

I´ve been watching your videos for some time. I wanted to go to Japan since forever. As soon as I´ll have finished my master degree next summer, I´m gonna take a plan to Japan and do a working holiday for one year. Wish I could have gone when I was younger (I´m 26 now) but I´m so happy that my dream will finally come true!!
I really love this video. It's really inspiring. The dream part. The music made me cryyyyyyyyyyyy TT^TT You're an awesome person. I hope you don't mind when I ask you what your dream/dreams are?
Temple University Japan = my gateway to see the pillows live and to be able to complete all 4 years of college in Japan without having to take japanese (except for the required japanese class unless u are there to teach english) btw....what age do you need to be to buy beer from a vending machine rofl
thought a tear would comes out from that speech. She didn't, but few days ago after sub to your chan, I decided to learn japanese, guess you're pretty good at making someone else think he can do stuff just like you did.
Japanese used to be one of my project, i've alway been curious about other culture. I'm french, ve learnt English, bit of Spanish, Japanese's gonna be a huge challenge. But hey you're right. Dreams don't come up themselves.
I was simultaneously uplifted and depressed watching this. Sigh. I'd love to go back to Fukuoka *dream eyes*. Anyway, you gave cool advise that's worth a good rumination stew.
all were words i needed to hear...even though i have some barriers right now. i will seriously think about your steps to change speech. thanks a lot!!!
Today I watched your video first time, and I thought that your Japanese is very very well and like Japanese. My thinking was change that If I do my best for study english,I can talk english like english people.
I going to checks and watch your video in the future!!!!
micaela.... I usually hate motivational stuff.... but you made it sweet and concise so that my disgust for that stuff disappeared and as a result I have finally started my own blog! thanks! waiting for your next video and blog post!
Very wise words, I enjoyed listening to this video very much. It was great to hear something so uplifting, positive, thoughtful, etc for once in a very long time.
I have been studying Japanese for a long while, and can sadly say I have come nowhere close to where I would like to be by now. Now, when I feel like I can't study any more, or find myself at a bored spot, I'll refer back to this video to remember what I'm truly aiming for.
Aww, haha, Ryuhei(spelling?) is a stellar dude. He wants to know exactly what to say if he's put on the spot like in this video, but he's the best the way he is!
I liked your journal of early Japanese writing, Ciaela! Here, on YouTube, we only see the experienced gaijin. It's nice to be able to see some of how you started your journey!
Thanks for sharing a little bit of your new years experience with us! We will be here with you both for another year, for sure. ;)
@TJPguy well he used more vulgar language at me then just "Stupid" and i dont think it would be wise to list those swear words on here, so I sugar coated it. lol.
I started watching your channel a few months ago and your videos are always so inspirational!
It has always been my dream to go to Japan and sometimes I feel like this dream will never happen. But you're right about taking the first step to try and make your dreams come true. Nothing is impossible. All it takes is a little effort each and everyday to try and work hard towards your dream. I don't want to give up my dream so easily without even trying, so thanks for those encouraging words! =)
great video. esp the beginning. i also like watching the fireplace program... and "looking like a chump"
i think ppl really overestimate the difficulty of visiting a foreign place. i went to england twice and it was easy enough, just save up money and get cheap hostel etc. but people irl get so shocked that i could somehow travel to europe?? it's not that hard i think??
awww ciaela, that was so inspiring! Your channel is my inspiration, because I want to learn japanese(witch I will do this year =3) and I want to go to Japan, but for this I have to save money and I'm already planning how to do that. I'm only 17 and I have already traveled to 4 different countries, including Canada! Learning new cultures is a pleasure for me,I love new challenges. Thanks for the advises and the great channel!
I love going through people's things and display homes and stuff :3
That piano track was a killer btw. Think I might put it on my iphone and play it when I talk to sound inspirational and insightful. :D Not that what you were saying wasn't. :3
Good video, thanks for the uplifting words. Personally, I would've preferred a Japanese video with English subtitles. I like the challenge of seeing how much I can understand without resorting to the subtitles. じゃ ね
@Expresso98 You assume too much of me. My Japanese isn't fluent enough to say it in Japanese and have it have the same impact. English is my first language, and the easiest way for me to express myself. For simple things, or funny stories, things where it doesn't matter if I make mistakes--I don't mind using Japanese then.
@RusconiDom IT IS! We watched for a while, and I kept telling him "SOMETIMES YOU EVEN SEE THE HAND, OR A NEW LOG BEING ADDED" then just as I decided to start recording a video, IT HAPPENED!
While you're there, talk to everyone and decide what you could get from Kamloomps or the surrounding area to export to Japan that would be in demand so that you can start your import company. DO EEETTT.
This is a such an inspiring video! I've a daily viewer of your vlogs for sometime now and I'm finally heading to Japan to work this year to Teach English (After visiting twice and loving it!), your video has just made me realise my dream is becoming reality. Thankyou for adding to my inspiration to do this and thankyou for all your awesome advice ^___^ Hope to see many videos from you in 2011!
@PunkPlaidKitty that or they're lazy bums and hate to see other people getting off of their asses making their dreams come true (because they're too lazy to do something about it themselves)
yay! i am actually in japan right now! i got here on the 5th and i'm staying until late march. its my first time here and i'm pretty disappointed in my japanese, but i just need to think about how much better i'll be by the end.
thanks so much for this video. i really needed it :)

Thank you.

Sometimes I think it's so hard to try and go to Japan, but when seeing your videos I just can't give up.
Thank you for this :)

great video. esp the beginning. i also like watching the fireplace program... and "looking like a chump"
i think ppl really overestimate the difficulty of visiting a foreign place. i went to england twice and it was easy enough, just save up money and get cheap hostel etc. but people irl get so shocked that i could somehow travel to europe?? it's not that hard i think??

Did you use music from Kingdom Hearts for the cellar scene? I'm almost certain that I've heard that melody in some video game.
P.S. You're so lucky that you play the guitar; pianists don't have the liberties in terms of mobility. Keep rocking:)

明けましておめでとうございます, Ciaela-さま! 2011年もどうぞよろしくお願いします!
Good video, thanks for the uplifting words. Personally, I would've preferred a Japanese video with English subtitles. I like the challenge of seeing how much I can understand without resorting to the subtitles. じゃ ね
Expresso98 1 year ago
@Expresso98 You assume too much of me. My Japanese isn't fluent enough to say it in Japanese and have it have the same impact. English is my first language, and the easiest way for me to express myself. For simple things, or funny stories, things where it doesn't matter if I make mistakes--I don't mind using Japanese then.
Ciaela 1 year ago 9
@Ciaela O well, at least you convey the impression of being an advanced JPZ speaker! ^_^

DO EEETTT.

Quebec is a beautiful place, lived there for 5 years.
Did you make the music to this video? If you did, it helped with getting your point across.
Agree with the GOAL thing Japan can be a tough place to live but rewarding when you put in the hard work and it starts to pay off.
