A new analysis of Alliende's autopsy appears to show that he was shot first with a smaller gun, then shot again with an AK47, in an attempt to make it appear that he committed suicide.
@monelleny Thank you for sharing that information. I think many people (including myself) already assumed that they just executed him and tell everyone else that he shot himself (to demoralise his supporters). Maybe you can share a link to that information so people can read it.
Alliende's body has just been exhumed for study. I heard about that on National Public Radio today, and that''s what brought me to this site. If you do a Google search for Alliende autopsy Dr. Luis Ravanal, you will see many articles about this.
There is an interesting article at Wikipedia under Death of Salvador Alliende. It appears there were quite a few witnesses to the suicide. I don't know what to believe. It will be interesting to see what this new investigation comes up with.

Most of those "witnesses" are probably in the pro-Pinochet camp anyway, because they were the ones who stormed the building. I think this new study is probably the most truthful.
Allende was the first democratically elected communist president. He was the leader that unlocked the truth. The truth being that socialism and communism can work, but only under free democracy, liberty, and limited presidential terms. The people are suppose to vote freely for their leaders and should have the right to criticize them if needed. No needing to lock people up or kill them if they aren't 100% for the government. This is what Allende did and it worked, fast socialist change democrat
