Would anyone happen to have promos of these from there local PBS station. I would love have some, since i don't have any of them. Especially these longer versions!
A world made clear every day Your eyes will see a whole new way Our quality comes through, we'll show you how (Just watch us now!) We're PBS, we've got a different point of view (Just watch us now!) You've got a choice, so make it see what we can do Come see the light Come see the light Public TV (Just watch us now!) PBS!
man, i still miss watching old pbs shows [past and present] like, once upon a time, i-sland treasure, star lore, storylords, shining time station, zoobliee zoo, newton's apple, and where in the world is carmen sandiego, and other old pbs shows that i can think of, these old shows are always in my heart (and mind) forever and ever, along with stefano, my fave cartoon charicters, ransik, and everyone on raw, smackdown, ecw, and tna.
god i miss watching pbs, and i also miss watching shows past and present, like, Once Upon A Time, I-sland Treasure, Star Lore, Storylords, The Letter People, Square One TV, Captain Kangaroo, The Puzzle Place, Zabomafoo, Zooblie Zoo, Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego, Shining Time Station, Newton's Apple, And Long Ago & Far Away. But These Shows Will Remain In My Heart (and mind) Forever and ever.
This looked like the beginning of the end of the PBS that everyone knew. I *never* knew did any such image campaign - *that* early. So after the 1984 ID being retired by the end of the 80s, with this image campaign, more corporate underwriters (oh wait, sponsors), and crappier programming as the 90s went by, I guess PBS was dead then. I can't even tell you when I last watched a PBS show... (other than NBR, but stopped watching that on a daily basis after the PBS takeover in March 05.)
"Classic: The Finale" (aired 12/31/1988 at 11:59pm) ends with this PBS song promo.
NOTE: The girls I'd like to date are Caitlin Wachs (actress in which toddlers see), Lexi Leibl (my sister), Jordin Sparks (AI winner), Alexa Nikolas (late), Selena Gomez (late), Demi Lovato (late), Jamia Simone Nash (late), Elle Fanning (late), or Hayden Panetiere (actress who loved horses).
"Classic: The Finale" (aired 12/31/1988 at 11:59pm) ends with this PBS song promo.

The first show on PBS including the PBS 3-D Glass logo is "Old School: The Finale" at 11:59pm, on June 15, 1987. The music to this is beautiful. I loved it.
I remember the localized version of this on WKNO Channel 10 in Memphis. They had the "PBS" text to the left of the logo fade out and replaced with "WKNO" in the typewriter font.
I remember a custom version for KVIE in Sacramento as well, only it just had the "TV Tube Segmented 6" logo on the screen against the dark teal background...
Whoh, chill chico. I thought I posted a follow-up comment here a few months ago saying that I accidentally pressed the reply button under you instead of the one directly above. It was when YouTube had a tendency of killing comments before they even came up. I was actually replying to VideoWizard2006.
I used to watch a lot of Sesame Street as a kid until I was 11. I was 9 or 10 when they used to play this commercial. And my friend who was my age that my mom used to babysit for every day after school was there. And I used to make him watch Sesame Street with at 4pm. He hated it, cause he would have much rather played Nintendo or gone outside during that time. Well he used to sing along with this commercial only instead of just watch us now, he'd sing "Don't watch us now" or "Just hate us now"
They did use the instrumental version on WCTE-TV 22 in Cookeville, Tennessee for their newscasts back in the early 1990s called "Upper Cumberland Tonight".
Well, techincally the slogan here is "TV Worth Watching", which isn't ripping NBC off, but it does get debatable when they emphasize "just watch us now" in the lyrics.
I'd love to see someone mash this up with the NBC "Just Watch Us Now" promo from the 80s.
"We're PBS... just watch us now!"

@ryanasaurus0077 I used to work at a PBS affiliate at around this time and had a copy of it laying around.

I remember seeing a version on WHYY.
GameShowNetwork2 1 year ago
@GameShowNetwork2 Was it called "WHYY, Just Watch Us Now"?
gshowguy 1 year ago
@gshowguy Yes. There was also a version called "We're TV-12, Just Watch Us Now, TV-12". Then in 1992-93, it was changed to "WHYY, Where You Belong"

There's a new star that's shining
A difference worth finding
The magic of seeing something new
Come see the light on PBS
And see how good TV can really be
(Just watch us now!)
Adventure, drama, mystery, and nature too
(Just watch us now!)
TV Worth Watching means our shows reflect on you

worstamericanhero 4 years ago 15
Yes. In 1982, it was "We're NBC...Just Watch Us Now."

And the Family Channel did in in '97(?), too.

WFWA in Fort Wayne used that music for its Station ID
innewscenterhd 3 years ago
And also as a music bed at sign off. I produced several of those IDs back in the day. I also signed that station off many, many nights...

Just watch us now?! Um... NBC did that in 1982, which means that PBS is kind of ripping them off with this promo.

Family Channel (now abc family) also used that slogan around 1996.
