I was just curious. How exactly did Dan Inosanto meet Bruce Lee? I know that Dan was an instructor for Ed Parker, and that Bruce Lee did a demonstration at one of Ed's tournaments. Is that how they met? How did Bruce even get an invite?

As I understand it Inosanto was one of Parkers top students & when Bruce Lee first arrived Parker introduced him & Lee, & asked him to show Lee about town etc., and from there they developed a friendship.

I'm sure it's explained in a couple of books, but I heard it way back in the early 90's when I first started training, might even have been at one of Inosanto's seminars when someone asked the same question.

Have you ever seen "Dragon: The Bruce Lee story"? That's a movie (after BL's death) that describes Bruce Lee's whole life.

He has fought alot of unofficial fights on the street and else where.

BL's own words are he broke boards in demos to show how easy it really is. Other than showing board breaking is a gimmick, he never did it. No one he ever trained or worked out with has ever mentioned him using board breaking. His last one Hong Kong tv you mentioned he even used his son Brandon to show how easy board breaking is. BL was all about making an art that was efficient and worked on the street, not something that only worked in a dojo or in light contact sparring.

Lee trained Joe Lewis for some time. Joe Lewis essentially tested Lee's theories in the 'lab'-- the fighting ring. When confronted with Lee's not public fight record, he said "who cares. He [Lee] was interested in becoming the most famous martial artist, to promote his art". I'd say he succeeded. Joe Lewis is a great kickboxer, but he isn't a household name. Peace
