They might have improved the AI for the console version (I haven't checked) but the AI at our arcade is set to max and it's the easiest fighting game to clear that I've played, I beat seth just pressing light-kick with Sagat and using 1 ultra.

By the look of the roster, they created groups of 4 (besides the 8 "originals" and the 2 on the 4th row). I guess they needed a 4th Alpha character to complete the bottom.

When SF2 came out in the US, they mixed up all of the boss character's names.

Balrog(US) = M.Bison(in Japan)

Vega(US) = Balrog(in Japan)

In the Japanese version, the "M" in the M.Bison stands for Mike. But as I said, they changed the names in the US version because Mike Bison is very similar to Mike Tyson (the heavyweight champ at the time) and they didn't want to get sued.

I think the roster is fine the way it is. Bring Rose and Fei Long into the game is great. I always loved the new Fei Long moves. Sad they rid his anti-air move. Rose is always good to use. I am learning her alot more, I used to use Ken, Sakura, and Zangief in the Street Fighter Alpha. In Street Fighter 3, I only use Alex and Ken. The other SF3 characters piss me off for some reason.

At first, my thoughts about the Street Fighter 4 roster was that Capcom would probaly reintroduce some characters from the first Street Fighter, followed by SF2 and Alpha. If I had to pick set of characters to appear from SF3, then my selection would be Alex, Elena, Oro, Ibuki, Remy and Sean. I'm glad that the roster is at 25 (including Rose) and I can't wait to play the game.

I think Crimson Viper is Rose's alias. Same fighting stance, same lightning-shaped bang on her widow's pack, same pointed eyebrows, and similar throw (Alpha Rose: Headstand energy shock vs CViper: indian-sitting on shoulders while head shocking) Her special moves appear to be derivative of Alpha Rose as well. I can draw comparisons, but maybe CViper is to Rose what Guile is to Remy. Who knows? It would give CViper more character as well as adding an interesting dimension to Rose's story.
