Why 14 month old still not talking? My son is 8 months old and can speak, the girls begin to talk faster than boys. Just a lot of talking with your child children learn quickly and are willing to joint talks.
I do not want anyone to consider it malice, but for me it's a little surprise.
Perhaps this is also dependent on the country that some children grow slower and others faster.
@checkoutmrpushypants It's amazing how quickly they catch on. Teaching them sign language makes it so much easier to communicate with them and know what they want.
@Jiggerhead1 No. Her hearing is fine. We were teaching her to sign so she could communicate with us better. It worked really well! She's 2 1/2 years old now, and she has a little sister. Her little sister just turned 8 months old, and she can already sign Mommy, Daddy, Eat, More, and Milk. It's amazing how quickly babies learn how to sign.
my son is 13 months and he is making lots of noise and loves to talj in his own way so i am a little worries that sign language will just make him mute. i want to encourage him to speak, even if he doesnt make sense because that way he will learn to talk and not make signs. he also is half japanese so i need him to speak two languages.
@projectdurden We were also worried about Lilah talking because she started using the signs so much and didn't try to say the words very often, so we quit using the signs as often. She started talking like crazy, but we really wish we would have continued using the signs. Lilah has a little sister now, and we're going to teach her how to use signs, too. We're going to start teaching Lilah how to use the signs again. If I were you I would keep using the signs the entire time and don't quit!
@LibbySmith0003 Actually, Using sign language is an excellent way to teach your children to communicate. I'm an Early childhood educator, so I have studied this. The reason is that words that we understand and words we know how to use are stored in different areas of the brain. So even though your child might not know how to use the word, they understand it. By adding sign language, it helps the child communicate with you much better until they learn how to use those words.
@XOXHyuugaNejiXOX It was so amazing to watch her learn how to communicate with sign language. It was so easy for her to learn, and she was quickly able to tell us what she wanted when she couldn't say the words. It's a fun and easy way to communicate with little ones before they can actually speak the words.
@projectdurden Actually, learning sign language at this early age (or even before) SPEEDS UP language development as well as, later on, larger vocabulary.
@BrittanyPunches Exactly! Lilah is talking very well for her age, and she has a wide vocabulary, too. We just recently started using sign language with Lilah's little sister, Londyn. She just turned 8 months old, and she's already picking up on the signs! Amazing! Lilah's helping us. :-)
@projectdurden you shouldn't worry about them being mute, cause your teaching them sign if anything if would enhance their learning and understanding cause they'd be able to communicate with you more clearly what they want. as long as you still talk as you sign there shouldn't be any problems. i have a friend whos whole family is deaf but her and shes never had problems with speech
@LittleMimis1019 Lilah can talk just fine. She actually turned two yesterday and talks all the time. We were teaching her sign language at this time, so she could communicate better with us.
@LibbySmith0003 That is good. I have a friend who's cousin didn't speak until she was four because her parents taught her sign language and she didn't want to use anything else, so I've been discouraged. I'm glad it worked out for you guys. That's wonderful. ^.^
@randomchick101lol Lilah is 14 months old in this video. She's 15 months old in the 2nd video. We started teaching her sign language when she was a year old. She picked up on it very quickly!
Sure! I'll upload some more videos of her sign language. She's learning more and more signs every day! It's amazing how quickly she learns how to use them!
That's really good! I have tried to teach my 12 mth old grandson some sign language---but--unfortunately-- his parents don't do it---so he hasn't really picked it up!

"I see babies crying
I watch them grow
They learn much more then I'll never know
And I think to myself
What a Wonderful World"
