Some people don't understand the hype around Raikkonen. This however is what it's about. He's sensational to watch. That and you have to love his attitude. But just look at that McLaren, it's so stunning. Quite sad when you then take a look at the newer cars, for example that new Lotus with the ugly nose. Hideous.
@Killfist I agree he's fun to watch but imo he's overrated as a driver. 2008 and 2009 are clear examples. You would never see the likes of alonso or vettel getting beat by massa no matter the circumstances. I'd even throw button into that mix as well. Kimi needs to car to his liking to excel. Vettel, hamilton, alonso are just always fast. Im not really expecting much from kimi in 2012.
@xflynskywlkr23 I love how you say "get beat by Massa" as if he's totally crap. xD
I agree with your comment though. I'm not expecting that much either, though I do hope for it. People were also all hyped cos of Schumacher's return but c'mon, it was to be expected he wouldn't be able to run in the front. All I want is some more action. Last season has been so boring to watch.
He just did only perfomance as well as Massa in 09. Second, as for 08 singapore, He could not keep pace with Massa until his trouble pit stop. He was outpaced by Massa in that race. And he didnot finish his race by shit mistake......
And Australia 08, He did spin when he tried to overtake Glock....
@chanyiwei mclaren. Hamilton is the same way imo. The mp4-24 was pure shit at the beginning of the 2009 season yet hamilton drove the hell out of it. 3rd in australia in a car that was 1.5 seconds off the pace. Kimi had as many wins in 2008 and alonso did in a freakin renault! Im sorry if my opinion hurts you as a kimi fan but it's just my opinion.
@xflynskywlkr23 it was massa that need a car suit his liking to thrive!~ He suck because he was driving Alonso 'car...where as Kimi won 1 wdc by driving Massa ' car for 3 years as you know kimi would nvr make a selfish demand on the team to built the car around him~!! Facts proven on the track in which the car tend to understeer alot in which Kimi prefer a more oversteer car~!!
@chanyiwei yes that is just what im talking about. It's very well possible that the 2007,2008 ferrari's didn't suit his style and that was the main reason he struggled but that just goes back to what i was saying that he needs the car to suit him to excell. Massa is the same way imo. Alonso on the other hand has shown he can win in anything. From the super soft pirrelli's to the super durable michelins days. From the understeering renaults to the very grippy front end on the 2007
@GalaxyPowerTy in 08 you means...when ferrrari is building Massa 's car....with schumi his mentor being incharge and jean todt left.......typical useless Troll...go f yourself...shallow superficial shit....who knows nth
@GalaxyPowerTy yea he did. His car broke down in Spain and Nurburgring. If he hadn't, Lewis could've not had problems in the last two races and still would've lost to kimi. So yea he did deserve the title. That would've been the third title he deserved, 03, 05, and 07.
@GalaxyPowerTy go watch 2008 again....shit luck + hydraulic+ gearbox hampered his chances when he come close to win........~~!! enough with your trolling....shittiest thing ever alive....!!
@GalaxyPowerTy mind you in singapore he move to 3rd from 15th after pit mistake~~!! shit luck as i said...In australia he encounter mechanical failure dude.....go rewatch~!!
@GalaxyPowerTy because of luck?? Lewis ruined his chances in Brazillian GP..if kimi never won consistenly in 2nd half even luck will not do him any justice!! stop trolling around with cheap comment like this!!!
This is propably the fastest Mclaren-Mercedes car....sure the cars that Hakkinen won championships in 1998 and 1999 were excellent too, but it was just amazing how much bigger fuel load Kimi could have on qualifying and still be on pole or atleast in top-3....
We all know that if that car had been as reliable as it was fast, Kimi would be 2 times world champion, Santander Eyebrow Falonso 1
@blainyrules Heh, true...Kimi deserved so much more, if only the Mclaren had been more reliable during those years....if he had won the championship 3 times, I dont know if it would make any sense for Kimi to return, but I just really hope that Kimi would return now, maybe for 2013 get to Mercedes or RedBull and win atleast 1 more championship...we all know that Kimi has all the skills to do that, if he would only get a car capable of fighting for the championship
@banzaiHonda03 it would have been if they still had the 2004 tyre regulations. In 2005 the tyre compunds were a lot harder as the tyres had to last the whole race. This is why Ferrari struggled in 2005 because they could not get the hard tyres to work. So no it is not the fastest F1 car ever (that would be the Ferrari F2004) but it could have been. It is certainly my favorite F1 car though!
@shazmeister2005 You know, the 2005 cars would have been even faster than the 2004 cars on the normal tyre compounds. The 2005 cars started to actually beat the 2004 lap times, or at least come very close to them. The lap record at Suzuka was set in 2005. The 205 cars had even more power than they did in 2004, and had as much downforce, maybe more, by seasons end.
Well, adapting to NEW rules is what applies to everybody. That's no excuse, especially for a team which at that time had pretty much limitless resources
The F2002 was the best Ferrari, not the F2004 (which still was one of the best F1 cars ever).
No, you see it's widely believed that the 1992 Williams-Renault FW14B was the fastest F1 car ever, because both Mansell and Patrese made everybody else look as if they were driving F3000 cars. Mansell took 14 poles, still the record
Listen up. According to Stats F1, the 1992 Williams was generally a whole second faster than the 2nd fastest car in most qualifying sessions, and in some a full 2 seconds faster! Both the 2002 and 2004 Ferrari's were around 0,3 faster in the qualifying sessions and DID get frequently outqualifed (7 times in 2002 and 6 times in 2004).
The 1992 Williams also was 1-2 second faster per lap in the races too. Compared to the 0,3-0,4 seconds per lap for the 2002 and 2004 Ferrari.
@McLarenMercedes Yes you are absolutly right, in terms of being faster than the opposition in a particular year the 92 Williams was in a class of its own (although the 88 Mclaren might have something to say about that). But in terms of out and out speed and lap time 2004 was the fastest year and the Ferrari on the whole was the fastest car in that year.
@SennaHamilton4ever Not neccesarily, the fastest laps were all faster in 2004 this is understandable with the no refueling and deradable tyres now. In quali it depends on the track, twistier ones the red bull would win whereas faster ones the ferrari would win, then again the playing field isnt level with DRS now, that would buy the 2011 car a few tenths.
My original post was in 2010 and was correct at the time, 2011 would be much closer, i doubt there would be much in it
