Thanks man! Don't use an amp for my YT vids. I use a Boss ME-50B pedal then (in those days) in a mixing console and in the DV camera. Nowadays it's Boss-ME-50B then in the computer.
Don't remember my exact settings on this one, but I usually like to put tons of mid in my tone.
Aaaw crap. I was sure the first bass I'm going to buy would be a J-Bass, but after seeing this cover maybe a P-Bass would be a better suit. Which would you recommend? (I mainly want to play metal)
Quite a question man. The J-Bass is more versatile: it is good for pretty much everything. The P-Bass has a very distinctive tone. I think you should continue to browse youtube and listen to different players playing both basses and then make your decision based on your own ears.
Well done Sir! It's nice to bring out Ian's work a little; makes it even more enjoyable.
I also appreciated how you mixed it; just enough bass to be heard but not overpowering. And, well done not jumping around. We can see both hands and the whole fretboard all the time. That's important for those who are studying (not me, I'm just enjoying). :) The question now; is that 100% true to the original, studio version, or just your interpretation of what it was or should be? Good job!!!
Thanks a lot for the nice comment. I like youtube vids that I can learn on. Kind of like tabs, but better. I try to do the same. Is that 100% true to the original? Most probably not. The notes are a best effort, and the rythm, the groove, is my interpretation.
Yeah, too bad the bass lines are a little ... boring... most of them anyways, Priest really is a guitar band. This one I had to practise more than I thought, especially the ending, and i still screw up the timing in the vid. *Sigh*
for sure... nah, I didnt run out of 311 tunes. I was just taking abreak from them, a goofing around a little bit. Im wrking on a Chili Peppers collab video with a coipl eof others, but we havent gotten on the same page yet so theres a bit of a stall... but 311 has about 160 songs so I dont thinkI will run out any time soon!
Your bass sounds absolutely beautiful here. Wicked cover too!

Great cover dude!!! How do you have your E.Q. on your amp set up? Because your tone REALLY resembles a rickenbacker tone and I love it!!!!
