  • is this machine for sale.

  • @PINKBOY1006 Well,I suppose it could well be...

  • that's pretty neat. it sounds good and you can take it anywhere.

  • @stewie100 lt is too,and you can.

  • Thank you so much for sharing the video! I had a record player when I was 3 (back in 1969) looking very much like the one you shown! Sadly, after several house moving and all that, I never got to see it again. Been my life-long dream to have one exactly like that again ever since. Would you happen to have the model number?

  • @adamas66 Sorry to hear about your lost player. There's no model number shown on this, but they were made as valve mains-only and also as battery-mains transistorized machines.Ebay's a great place to look for one of these as they always seem to have a few old Philips sets on there.

  • actually.. it did say how to place tthe batteries haha! nice record player!

  • a ha.. I'll look into it when I'm done with my exams at school :p ;)

    Thanks a lot!

  • What do you call that wheel below the volumewheel? What's it function?

I'm reparing a similar player for a friend and don't really know what it is for..

The table itself doesn't turn on itself, I had to give it a spin, when i put the needle on, it slows back down..

  • @Pietero555 There's a tone control under the volume control on this.lt sounds as if there might be a tired or weak spring that holds the idler against the turntable on your friend's one.

  • Very crude!!!

  • No trimmings, except the tone control!

  • Can you use this unit on the mains? Is the cartridge/stylus mono or stereo?

  • This is mains or battery, but you'd need a rather strange mains lead! The cartridge is the usual GP205 type, and is stereo.

  • I take that back--yours is a lot fancier than the one I have. Mine's very basic.

  • Sounds like it could well be,as you say,an earlier one.Have you tried it?

  • I have an earlier model of that one. Played pretty good, haven't used it in ages.

  • They made various versions down the years, some were stereo, and all with that detachable cartridge, which made them easy to change the stylus!

  • i had one too ; was yours virtually identical to this except that there was no 16 speed, a plainer looking turntable with a rubber mat & no shiny chrome on the tone arm or stylus also a slightly different looking speaker / lid

  • That really sounds good...that's a pretty substantial record player, sometimes these portables will be be smaller and have the speaker underneath the record.

  • l know the sort-there was a Fidelity model sold here that was like that.VERY tinny that was too, with a mini BSR turntable.

Singing sounded like they'd blocked up their noses!Everything else?Rubbish.
