  • awesome thanks so much (: I want to play folky style music helpin a lot

  • thx

  • Who is this guy?

Can someone tell me if he s got a profile here on youtube?

  • Lovely hands:)

  • Yes... BACK THE WAY YOU CAME...!!

    ***leave banjo cock shotgun-

  • simple and clean ,a bit like me

  • I agree that you have fun right away, but the teacher I had (twenty years ago) and many other teachers recommend using picks from the get go if your learning bluegrass.

If your learning Folk and Old time (I play those styles too) strumming is only a minor part of the picture. Look up Rocket Science Banjo. The Doc shows pretty slowed down technique.

Most of all...Have fun. Listen to your favorite style of banjo OFTEN, and find a jam to learn in. Jamming is the best way to pick it up!

  • Это жалко

  • I struggle with strumming. I've seen some players picking in a song, and then strumming later on. I really can't strum the strings with the thumb pick without getting caught. And I don't have enough nail on my fingers to just not have picks. What do people do to get around this?

  • @quantomintomentum i strum it with the back of my index finger using my nail in a backwards motion and it works for me. I too get caught up if i try and strum with picks on, i end up nearly ripping the strings out

  • @quantomintomentum ....they grow their nails . It hurts my fingers when I pick the hard wire strings and find picks are to loud ... so I use the clawhammer method .... it works fine .

  • I like the way you teach, nice an calm and slow. Thank you.

  • Then it would'nt be called strumming then would it??

  • how to play that!!!!!!!!!!!.........

  • i think mark knopfler pickings guitar like that.

  • dude looks and sounds like sweets from bones!!!!

  • @TheSmokieFan LOL I thought the same thing!!

  • Nice job...

  • why doesnt he use the pics that go on ur fingers

  • not realy a need to

  • @skott1090 The finger picks are mostly to amplify to sound.

  • @skott1090 Because a nigga too gangsta fo' it. LOL

  • @skott1090 because he is strumming not picking

  • What are you talking about? in about half of most bluegrass songs the banjo strums at the very end.

  • Not to mention that the clawhammer style of banjo playing practically strums all the time

  • @TheAlmightySchwartz Because he is strumming, in bluegrass picking they use picks.

  • @TheAlmightySchwartz Half doesn't mean all.

  • nice explanation, thanks

  • @polpol12 pls how to play

  • hello.could u please tell me what type of banjo do u suggest for a begginer?each has a different techinc and is destined to play diffenent kind of songs?is 4 string simpler?is 6string more suitable for someone who already play guitar?i dont have any idea...thank you very much.

  • Personally, I would suggest a 5-string, simply because they're much more common. Tabs are much easier to find for them, and they're very versatile. Six string banjos are pretty cool though, especially if you tune them into standard E like a guitar. It can give a whole new sound to rock songs, I'll tell you that lol.

  • thank you very much!

  • you have big hands
