I have a type of auditory dyslexia that sometimes causes even the most elementary form English dialogue sound like a foriegn language. In addition to this dyslexia I also have Asbergers' syndrome which is a pervasive devopmental disorder that hinders the ability to decipher non-verbal communication in addition to changes in expression and vocal tone. In other words, I WOULD NOT be able to UNDERSTAND what the fuck the drill instructor is saying (actually yelling/barking).
Man. I wish I knew what I signed up for. The first time my DI farted on me I didn't know what to do. So I just stood there and ate the farts, being the bigger man.
I few years later, 3 deployments under my belt and picked up rank and now they expect me to do the farting. This is ridiculous. I didn't sign up to fart on scared boots.
From what I observed having been around both the Army and Marines , is that they do almost the same job..however..the Marines usually require a great deal more yelling, screaming and profanity.....and I never could understand why???

That would mean that only the top 1 percent of people who take it can be marines, which is bullshit. You cant get "at least 100" because there is no higher score! If you are talking about standard score, than 100 works out to be less than one in weighted score, which is pretty appallingly low. Marines need around 30
@gunterdak Only way you can get over 100 is in the categories, such as a GT score ( got a 111GT) which a 110GT is required for special forces in the Army, I had a 115MA for Marine Corps 2141 AAV tech

America would be crap if they had as many people as us Australians had. We only got 14,000 people in our Air Force ffs, yet we still manage to hold our own in joint missions with the USAF

Kind of pointless , i faced shit similar to that in the army (not us army) and it didnt motivate me at all , it just got on my nerves and made me hate those sergeants... On the other hand , i felt great courage and motivation when i was being trained by those calmer sergeants that didnt yell but explain things normaly , and boost your morale all the time...it really boosted my willpower to fight and respect them as leaders... those men are real soldiers , not these assholes...
This training is absolutely essential to producing a Marine. Of course this kind of discipline would not be effective on a permanent basis. In the fleet, this does not happen. However, in basic recruit training this kind of treatment is necessary, and for 13 weeks, it is used to shape a recruit into a Marine.
Also, it is pretty disgusting to refer to the Drill Instructors as assholes. Those men and women have some of the toughest billets in the Marine Corps; their sole purpose is to shape nasty disgusting recruits into polished combat-ready Marines. That is not an easy job. Those instructors must be relentless, unyielding, and must outperform all of the recruits that come under their care. There are very few people in this world capable of doing their job.
@ErinMathis Yeah , i get what you say , the pressure and the stress to shape a soldier tough , i underwent that kind of treatment too , but it never realy did any good , only made me pissed and not respond to commands very well... But my "unit" , or what ever , i dont know in english , consisting of about 10 of us was the best and the toughest in the batalion for some time , and our instructor was ok , and the corporal was also chill , but was declared the best soldier of our generation...

That's why Marines can deal with the stress many can't. Once you've been trained to deal with the stress, the teachers at your MOS school don't act this way. Yea, motivation is good, and essential to success on the field, but the 13 weeks is meant to weed out those who are not strong enough to discipline themselves, and adjust. You can't just put people in a situation then face a stressful situation unprepared.

Man there is no way to escape getting ripped by the drill instructor in boot camp. You can do every single thing correctly and you will still be picked out and ripped on. I was in the Air Force and every single branch gets ripped on like that. When I was at Sheppard for tech school the marines were still getting screamed at during tech school. Same with the Navy, but the Air Force and Army were more about schooling. Army was always in poor shape compared to the Air Force oddly enough.

@gunterdak when I was in, the top value for the ASVAB was 148, you had to ace all the sections of the test to get that score,
they may have changed the scoring on the test since my time

In Korea when the Army retreated they left behind the fallen. The Marines also had to step back and regroup. But when we did step back, the fallen were with us.

But if China wanted to invade America they would be able to easily. America's population is around 307.5million China's is around 3.1 billion.
Ofcourse China could even more easily invade Aus, but we are more friendly with China then you guys are. But if China did invade you, you'd had the UK and Aus on your side.

There's a good reason we didn't intervene in Georgia, and that's simply because we knew about that douche's little border war bullshit. Problem is, we in the US Army KNOW China was involved in the 2005 raise of insurgency in Iraq. So the question is, why haven't we done anything about it? Answer: We already have, and they cut the crap. Now China has re-evaluated it's stance on hostile action on the US.

Kind of pointless , i faced shit similar to that in the army (not us army) and it didnt motivate me at all , it just got on my nerves and made me hate those sergeants... On the other hand , i felt great courage and motivation when i was being trained by those calmer sergeants that didnt yell but explain things normaly , and boost your morale all the time...it really boosted my willpower to fight and respect them as leaders... those men are real soldiers , not these assholes...

This training is absolutely essential to producing a Marine. Of course this kind of discipline would not be effective on a permanent basis. In the fleet, this does not happen. However, in basic recruit training this kind of treatment is necessary, and for 13 weeks, it is used to shape a recruit into a Marine.

Also, it is pretty disgusting to refer to the Drill Instructors as assholes. Those men and women have some of the toughest billets in the Marine Corps; their sole purpose is to shape nasty disgusting recruits into polished combat-ready Marines. That is not an easy job. Those instructors must be relentless, unyielding, and must outperform all of the recruits that come under their care. There are very few people in this world capable of doing their job.

@ErinMathis Yeah , i get what you say , the pressure and the stress to shape a soldier tough , i underwent that kind of treatment too , but it never realy did any good , only made me pissed and not respond to commands very well... But my "unit" , or what ever , i dont know in english , consisting of about 10 of us was the best and the toughest in the batalion for some time , and our instructor was ok , and the corporal was also chill , but was declared the best soldier of our generation...

@ErinMathis With that said , hope you get what i mean... On drills and terrain exercise we were the most organised group , had the fastest soldiers and the best shooters... And , you know , others that had drill sergeants like this guy in the clip had no morale , werent that good , and moastly , just , spent time hateing the guy... Our captain was similar to this , the leader of our company(or whatever) , and EVERY man in the batalion hated him... we're soldiers , not animals...

@Altegore it's not meant to motivate you. and that's why there are the few and the PROUD US Marines. Not everything in life is easy, no stress, and everyone's holding your hand. That's why Marines can deal with the stress many can't. Once you've been trained to deal with the stress, the teachers at your MOS school don't act this way. You're nothing but a recruit until you walk through those doors and earn the title marine.

@Altegore It's training, it's not preparing for a mission or deployment. Yea, motivation is good, and essential to success on the field, but the 13 weeks is meant to weed out those who are not strong enough to discipline themselves, and adjust. In life you never know what to expect, you'd begging to deal with one of these 'ass holes' then be put in some of the situations on the field. You can't just put people in a situation then face a stressful situation unprepared.

Man there is no way to escape getting ripped by the drill instructor in boot camp. You can do every single thing correctly and you will still be picked out and ripped on. I was in the Air Force and every single branch gets ripped on like that. When I was at Sheppard for tech school the marines were still getting screamed at during tech school. Same with the Navy, but the Air Force and Army were more about schooling. Army was always in poor shape compared to the Air Force oddly enough.
