Forget Radiohead - EMI had to build a cd - manufacturing plant - just to make enough cds of this album - it was that popular. Just to give you an idea - it was in the U.S. 200 billboard album charts for over 28 years, 1 in every 14 american citizen under 50 years of age owns a copy - source wikipedia. (. This 1 album exceeds anything done by radiohead, nevermind any of there other albums. (the wall has sold as many). radiohead - jesus fuckin christ behave.
@tommogts Sales have absolutely NOTHING to do with talent. If they did, Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber would be some of the best musicians of all time. Radiohead and Pink Floyd are both great bands. Kid A, OK Computer, In Rainbows, and Amnesiac are just as artistic and vital in the history of music as any Pink Floyd album.
The Dark side of the moon album will live forever because it is the journey of life and death and it is the most insightful recording ever made. From speak to me/Breathe (Life) to Eclipse (Death). Its a guide through life.
Food and Water is something humans take for granted, so they invented money...But they only have two hands, it's impossible to triple task. Sometimes you just have to Cop on the Chin, like you'r wife when she trying to swallow CUM.
Fuck Radiohead there is hardly anything that Holds a candle to this sound and anyone who says different has no taste in music Floyd stands alone plain and simple same as sabbath no one can match them either they are our pillars of that era of music before it turned into mostly Garbage now.
@mrjoew8 love this album too, tho if it was ahead of its time why is there still nothin that sounds like it? just a thought, been struggling with the concept of time. we are on a big rock twirling round the sun. there are many other rocks twirling round many other celestial bodies but none of them constitute what we consider time. money too is another weird concept, we like to think we are so rational but we let our lives be ruled by things that only exist in our crazy little heads - $ & time
Why all this comparison between Radiohead and Pink Floyd? Pink Floyd have a level of talent which still leaves me in awe every time i listen to this one track alone. Radiohead are pretty damn good, but let's not get carried away.
my mom my dad and i were arguing about this album. my dad and I in favor of pink floyd and my mom against. she said "its the music of stoners." my dad came back with "its the music of angles." i love my family.
People simply have no idea just how groundbreaking and revolutionary this album was for its time. To name a few, an album that is more of one continuous song, powerful female R&B vocals in a rock song, incredible saxophone solos, an entire electronica track.
We all take these kinds of things for granted in popular music nowadays, but almost 40 years ago they did it all first and in one album. An epic masterpiece.
@BlackHole2005 yes indeed, my dad would play this all the time when he drove his trans am, so pink floyd is a bid influence on how i started listening to rock'n roll, but the funny thing is now im almost 23 and i just realized how modern pink floyds music is!! AND YOU ARE RIGHT, THEY ARE FROM THE 70'S!!!
I live in yuma az, people dont listen to this shit here but im 19 n i grew up w/ this music, I love Pink Floyd. Goood memories. i honestly remember like every word n noise in this album n animals, echos...the wall part 1 &2.....damn. I used to get blown to "Any colour you like" *remenising* ahh
@ThyDanny thanks for the upload of this whole album it truly means a lot to me. i wish youtube had enough space on videos to run this all together though
even though it was made in the 70s it still sounds modern fresh and exciting. The most forward thinking and dynamic band of all time, forget Radiohead.
Now why would you go throwing another band in this.... I happen to enjoy both of the bands pretty equally and feel their both give different aspects of music wonderfully.
@AboveDelusion I can't find my comment on here, so I forget what it was that I actually said, and I'm pretty sure it's an old comment, and my musical taste has changed greatly in the past four months, so I turned out liking the album a lot and buying it on iTunes.

@T3hpwnin8or Ermm I'm sorry , but I dont think 15 year old girls that listen to lady gaga and company , listen to Radiohead. And in my opinion I admire Radiohead and think they're a superb band, one of the few good bands remaining nowadays
@pantapdiazho Pink floyd and aphex twin are radioheads parents, and then radiohead has a baby with U2 to make coldplay, then radiohead has a another baby with rush to make muse.
(Lol, there's some really big age gaps with some of the parents here haha)
@MoreParksLessParking Uhmm I think its more like Pink Floyd, Aphex Twin, and Radiohead are completely different artists. Muse made a career out of copying Radiohead's The Bends/OK Computer style and Coldplay just fucking suck...
@MrFicction I get that coldplay thing but seriously, HOW the is muse a ripoff of radiohead? Like yah, matts & thoms sound VERY alike, I'll give you that. However, the actual music of the 2 bands are miles apart. They both have very different feels to their music. They both have depressing vibes, but muse is more fast paced, running away from an atomic bomb that just hit your town depressing, and radiohead is slower, walking through a disease ridden town with random bodies dotting the dirt roads.
@MoreParksLessParking I like your analogies, however I feel that Muse's style is just too similar to 1997 Radiohead to be ignored. The Radiohead influence on Showbiz and their later albums, especially "Origin of Symmetry" is just massive. But maybe it's just that Radiohead is one of my favorite bands and I've lost interest in Muse. Ehh, idk.
@MrFicction I personally don't see any resemblance in radiohead's and muses showbiz stuff at all. it's probably the closest sounding album muse had to radiohead. However showbiz is like 0% percent sounding like radiohead to me, and the rest of their work is like -10% percent sounding like radiohead. Especially their 2 newest albums. coldplay is a much more accurate ripoff of radiohead I'd say, because they have a very soft sound just like radiohead. They just take the avante garde stuff out.
@MoreParksLessParking Yeah you're probably right about the lack of resemblance in Showbiz, its been a while since I've listened to that album. But I definitely hear it in all of their other work. Coldplay, I couldn't say because I honestly haven't heard much of their stuff besides their singles.
money was the first pink floyd song i ever heard. i loved it instantly the next day i preceeded to listen to all of eclipse, the wall, and quite a few other loose albums.
my mom just told me that this was what they listened to when they were young.. thats almost 40 years ago.. She also tilod me that they would never listen to music from theyre parents youth, but here I am, 15 years old. Lving it! :D
...Good for you mate. Now listen to all of Floyd cause it only gets better. My Dad was a big Elvis and Johnny Cash fan. Tried to get him to listen to this when I was your age, but no use. This I beleave was my 1st Pink album, yes album, I listened to. Don't do the stupid Wizard of Oz thing with this either, it's an insult to the band and their music.
well, excuse me.. I'm a big fan. I have listened to all of their music for a long time. My dad has many of their origional released LP's. They are lovely to listen to. That sound of good old 45's is just pure joy :D
my first floyd track that i ever heard and i fueless bandcking loved it ,my favouriye track at that time. From then on i just got into floyd and loved everything that i heard of theres!!there just a timeless band and that is hard ta come by these days and in there hay day!!!makes ya proud ta be british(born and breed)not cause you've lived in england for 5 years and ya classed as british by de-fault!!!!!!
