  • got it thanks

  • how do you change the tempo of a imported file?

  • @guitar0124 That's the time stretch feature. Hold down the Alt key and put the arrow right at the end of the file and you'll see it become a Clock. Drag it right and the file slows down. Drag left and the file gets faster. I don't have a video on this yet but give it a try. We can do a Skype session also and I can show you live, right there.

  • @guitar0124 My Skype name is "themuzic"

  • Say I wanted to slow down only one track? i.e I have a piano part that sounds slightly fast, and I mean very slightly. It seems to hit on time, but sounds just a little fast. Does that alt, grab and drag you posted at sitmatt13 apply here?

    Thanks

  • @foxdfive1 If the entire track is just playing early (but never speeds up more by the end, then what you need to do is shift it, not speed it up. You can do this in the inspector for just that track by using the "Delay" option. Typing a negative number makes it play earlier but in your case, type in a number like 20 and see if that shifts it enough forward to make it sound synced. Now if it starts ok but speeds up as the song goes forward, then the Alt and drag function applies.

  • Well done Johnny! Clear and concise. Thank you..

  • Thanks muzic, I just tried it and it hit the slow down quite abruptly, The edit you made in the middle of your video( not the end). I didnt see you gradually step down to the slower tempo. Example, my song 110 bpm I slow down to lets say95 and then come back up. You must have gradually slowed it down. Ill look again --

  • This is just what I needed for a song I am working on, but Im not quite clear on adjusting the file tempo if it does not sync with everything else. Above you said push down alt and drag the end of the file ( you mean the wav file ?) and if so, doesnt that make the length of the file smaller?

  • @foxdfive1 Yes! It makes it smaller but it will speed it up if it's too slow. Making it longer will slow it down. That's the time stretch!

  • How do I adjust file tempo?

  • @sitmatt13 Do you mean when it doesn't sync with the project? If so, hold the "ALT" key, grab the end of the file and move left or right. This will increase or decrease the tempo of the file without effecting the song.

  • @themuzic Thank you!

  • @sitmatt13 As I described it for Foxdrive. Making it smaller will speed it up if it's too slow. Making it longer will slow it down.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. Can you do one that shows how to set different tempo on the metronome for recording? I tried this once but when playing back the recording was off after tjhe first change of tempo.

    HELP

  • @MrLoveBites Boy, that's a great question actually. I'll have to see if it's even possible. If I figure something out I'll post a vid.

  • @themuzic thanks, I'll be looking forward for it. Thanks for your response

  • is there a way to add a click track?

  • how can I change the tempo of the song without affects the midi on my tracks?

  • @bennyboytx You can not. Any changes to the tempo will always effect the midi. Most DAWs are like this.

  • when i adjust the tempo at the top the top two midi drum tracks change but my audio tracks stay the same as before

  • is there any way to type in the tempo on the tempo bar like you do the main tempo of the song below. the reason is, on the macbook without a mouse i cannot accurately move my finger over the pad and stop on the exact tempo figures that i want, its a nightmere! haha. please helpl

  • how do yu change the track colours? mine r all blue, or green. loooks nice but just wondered how uve done that. not a very important question i kow haha

  • nice porno music

  • how can I adjust the tempo of a single track not the whole song just the loop in the song so it does not effect the other parts in that section of song?

  • @slipknotlifer Put the arrow over the end of the event. You'll see it change to a sideways triangle and a line. Hit the ALT key and you'll see a tiny clock appear. Now you can stretch and shorten that loop event's or midi event's timing, without effecting the rest of the song.

  • One other thing that I can't figure out is how to "explode" a GM file out into individual midi channels ....any ideas ???

  • Is there any way of drawing a tempo slope? There is such a feature in Cubase, but I'll be damned if I can find it in Studio One!

That said; overall, Studio One is a fantastic product. I'm totally hooked, after using Cubase for 12 years!

  • @dermo65 Not yet but it's coming in version 2.0 that should be out this winter.

  • Good onya mate, thanks for sharing valuable knowlege.

  • very useful thanks for the tip!!

  • Is it just me or does this guy sound like Casey Casem?

  • @tgnz24 That's quite a compliment. Thanx. I grew up listening to him.

  • can't say how much these videos are helping me! thanks!

  • @pineBluff15 I think so. I dumped Cubase completely after 6 years using it. There are bunch of features in Cubase that Studio One does not have. For me, they are features I never used. That said, I run a small studio as a business and I have found nothing that I miss so far. Now, also realize that Studio One is still growing. We have version 2 coming in the next year and it will only get better. That's why I'm so into it. Studio One is even better for those starting out as it has no bloat!!

  • @pineBluff15 There is a video for that by presonus. It is very simple. I'll post a link on your youtube page!

  • @pineBluff15 My Akai mini seems to be working with no problem. are you selecting it in the track you are trying to record? Or, you can select "All Inputs" in the instrument track. Also, there are a few cracked versions out there and the midi stuff doesn't work.

  • Have you guys seen the Windows 7 equipped StudioBLADE keyboard workstation from Music Computing? It comes with the FULL VERSION of Studio One Pro!

  • @musiccomputing Yeah, I have it in my favorites on my page. It's pretty nice. But for the money it could have had flying faders. I would be all over it if it did.

  • Great tutorial man! I have a question though: Is it possible to change the tempo in a section just for one track? I'm using drum loops but there's a section in the song where I actually want to double the drum tempo for the drum track only. Thanks

  • @jasonstallworth Not for a single track but the time stretch features in S1 for a sample or loop can do just that.

  • as I can square a drum loop recording the time of my already created?

  • @jesus5612 Well, I'm not understanding your question. Sorry.

  • Hello there, I am playing tracks live using studio one but I want them to speed up gradually from let's say 90bpm to 92 within 5 minutes of music. I did it once manually using the "alt" key but every time I try it again it slows down instead of speeding up. Is there an easiest and more understandable way to do it? Thanks a lot.

  • como puedo cuadrar un loop de bateria al tiempo de mi grabacion ya creada ?

  • @jesus5612 Sorry man. English?

  • I learn alot from this video thanks but may i have the product key if not too much to ask i cant find ma disk with the key ill appreciate it

  • @xratedrep13 Seeing that you have posted under different names here through out my Videos I can only assume you are looking for a cracked or free version. I do not work with people like that. You either buy it or you're shit out of luck!!

  • One question my friend... How can I quantize an audio track a little out of timing? (like a bass guitar out of time or something) is that even possible on Studio One? Thanks!!

  • @VictorGl3z There is no automatic way to do this so you would have to highlight the hit points manually to the grid and move them one at a time. I think Logic has this ability but I'm not sure.

  • @themuzic Thanks!

  • does it have pitch correction?

  • @banivakacacani No, Studio One does not have pitch correction but ti works great with Melodyne plugin. You can however adjust the tuning of a track and, on that same track, cut the audio into smaller events and tune each event differently. Not auto tune BUT you can retune a track pretty easily.

  • @themuzic

How can this be done. Is there a plug-in or something.... Cant seem to figure that one out.... (tuning)

  • @Dsynthsounds If you open up the Inspector, highlight the event you want to tune and in the inspector, you will see 2 choices. One for "Tuning" which is small steps and another choice for "Transpose" where you can change the actual key without effecting the speed or formant.

  • @Dsynthsounds Nope. Not a plugin. It's in the Inspector on the far left. Watch the video again as it explains how to open the inspector.

  • this will soon rock the DAW market...

  • @kubalibre77 And it's even better now with have dynamic timestretch now in version 1.5. This was done with 1.0.3. Now you don't have to cut the audio track anymore. The audio files now just automatically adjust.

  • Thank u Thank U Thank U! I just purchased Presonus Firestudio Project and am just learning. I hope U have other vids. Please let me know. :)

  • Thanks man. Great video.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing :)

  • i would like to see a simple video on cross fades

  • Thanx for checking it out. I'm glad they're helpful. There is another guy makeing similiar videos but the only thing is there is no narration. Makes it a bit hard to follow but he gets into things I have not dived into yet. See the link on my chanel page.

  • Johnny, I love these videos, I'm new to DAW recording in general and you've really helped me click with S1! Presonus ought to hire you - you're an excellent teacher, presentation is first rate!
